OT/MISC Odin has a respiratory problem

You've sure had more than your share of vet bills lately, Dennis. It always seems to go in waves, so it's bound to end soon (& back to health)
. I was hoping it would have been Baytril, but Doxy may work fine. (our over 15 girl had a run in with a respiratory thing in 2005- 4 days in VREC, trach tube, the works...a bill suitable for framing. We still don't know what it was- only that it could only have come from a trip to the vet for gastritis.) I'm keeping Y'All in my prayers (fur kids always get extra).

He's not wheezing as much today. Been on the antibiotic for a couple days. Hoping the wheezing will be pretty much gone by tomorrow. It was bad there for awhile.

Contact your vet and see if there are cases of Canine Influenza in the Austin area. If so, ask him if these symptoms are consistent and then ask him if his VAX distributor is doing tests for the CI -- we have it down where I am - no trips to Petsmart. etc. and the vax manufacturers are testing for free.

I have a dog that does the gagging thing. The vet thinks it is allergies. I give the dog a benedryl if it gets too bad. Actually, I use the WalMart generic. I also give my dogs colloidal silver. I put some in their water dish.

Consider laying in a supply of fish antibiotics. Here are a couple of sources:

I try to keep a record of what my vet prescribes for each problem and the dosage so that, if necessary, I can substitute fish antibiotics.

DM, it couldn't be CI, because Odin hadn't been around other dogs for at least six weeks prior to his affliction. Hermione's the one who's had all the vet time, and she's symptom free. I figure the incubation period for the various doggie diseases is, overall, much shorter than that.

I keep the empty pill bottles for product and dosage data. Yeah, gotta get some fish meds, and not just for the dogs...
