If you eat enough garlic then you will. It comes out through your skin.

In the second world war in Korea your forces always knew when an attack was coming as they could smell the North Korea before they could see them due to their garlic eating

Ok, Im on the band wagon! I got my DE last week and DH & I started taking it 4 days ago. I noticed more energy the first day. Yes, to the more vivid dreams and also being able to remember them the next day. Havent been able to do that for a while.
I would like to report HAPPILY that the ringing in my ear, AKA morse code beeps, has stopped! HALLELUJAH!
I took a 2 hour nap yesterday, which I never do and then slept for 10 more hours. DH started getting the flu-like symptoms yesterday: Upset tummy, tired, bad headache. He slept a lot yesterday and last night woke up in a sweat. Had to change his shirt. He feels better today. I wont let him quit taking the DE. I told him he's detoxing and to hang in there.
I feel blessed to have read this thread and thank you LeV. :boohoo:for bringing this to our attention!!!:spns: I am thrilled

Day 16. Have mild arthritic hands with early knot formation on fingers. Achy pain has abated. Still feel minimal stiffness. All in all this is definite improvement. Hoping with time the knots on fingers may disappear?

Um....don't be surprised if some of you enter "round 2" (and maybe more rounds depending on how sick you are) on the DE as you get rid of um.....more "gross little white things" as WG called them earlier. I seem to go in waves or rounds. Feel great, then wham. Repeat. Even so, DH and I continue to see good results. I'm up to 2 teaspoons today. :) Hoping to get to the Tbsp goal asap now. I'm soooo glad I took my time in the beginning though and let my body guide me on how much to take.

Hubby and I have had a couple of dark spots on our faces. They are both lightening up and it seems like they are leaving. I should've taken a before pic but I did take pics yesterday. I'm going to wait awhile and then if the spots continue to improve I'll try to post the pics for comparison.

Stormie, I'm hoping this helps my arthritis too. When I read reviews at Amazon there were quite a few praising this for those with the problem. I kept a few reviews to re-read from time to time to encourage me. Here's one of 'em. I left off the person's name for privacy.

Great for Joint pain and lowering cholesterol and so much more
3/19/12 I bought this stuff directly from earthworks after reading about all the benefits of taking this natural supplement. I specifically bought it for my mother who is on cholesterol medicine as well as other statin medication which i know damage her system. She also has severe arthritis which have practically deformed my moms hands.

She has been taking this for a full year and I have to say results were so great, i now take this and give it to my pets as well. Her hands look normal again, she can walk comfortably and the coolest part is the doctor congratulated her for her great results in lowering her cholesterol, high blood pressure and her diabetes. So good in fact the doctor requested she take the tests over as he thought they were a mistake. She is slowly weaning off of her statin drugs thank goodness to no joy of her doctor.

This person updated their post on May 4th of this year to answer a reader's question:

UPDATED 5/4/13 Hello there,
we both use 1 heaping tablespoon. I take it myself because it helps with my plantaar fascitis. I have had pain in my feet for several years and have gone to the ortho only to be offered a steroid shot each time. after I started taking this; It is no longer an issue for me, it's as if I never had it.

Some of us are exchanging updates about taking DE via PM so I forget to update here too. Sorry 'bout dat. In February I went to the doc because my bladder was driving me nuts. I always had to go to the bathroom like as if I had a bladder infection although I didn't have one according to the test they did. After taking this DE (now 3 weeks) that is GONE. Thank God!!

Reborn, I'm glad you brought up the ''''waves'''' because I'm still going through them, like maybe round 7.
But the BREATHING has been constant, perfect, and amazing. A lifetime of wheeze is gone.
I'm still doing the 2 quart pitcher, and if you try this, you'll see that a heaping teaspoon of DE is a LOT.

I've lived when lead pipes and asbestos were the norm. I ate food from aluminum for many years, until figuring it out. I had ulcers ((hyphylori) for 20 years and ate mountains of aluminum filled antiacids.. It's going to take more than a few weeks to clear this out. .....years of TUNA.....and fillings.... and CIGARETTES filled with at least 800 sickly toxins... on and on. Too many years of never sleeping more than 5 or 6 hours a night...

Just suddenly being able to sleep a full 8 or 9 hours is ... HEALING.. but that healing is a process.
My expectations is that I'll feel better in one year than I did 10 years ago. I can say that because I'm getting LOTS more oxygen, rest, and slowly ridding my body of pathogens.

Last week was difficult, and recognized as another one of them ''''waves'''' -- I felt tired and sort of weak. ((There were emotional things going on as well, with one of my children)).... I pampered myself with less work, healthy fruits and veg's and broths, and feel-good movies,...... that's when I decided to make the DE water pitcher... like a steady drip of the powder... in a constant flush.
I'm feeling quite a bit better today, and my body is steadily feeling unusually strong.

The area of my forefinger and thumb on the right hand has hurt for about 10 years.
The last couple weeks there hasn't been any pain there.

I still have lower back pain... and if THAT goes away... h-cow! I'd be thinking this stuff is the virtual, absolute Fountain of Youth Angel Powder!!!

Day 12 here, 1 TBS per day, no little white specks...but my knees aren't crunching, I'm not grunting to get out of a chair, and my allergies haven't started. I am taking 1 allegra a day, but not my normal dose of 4 benadryl. (yes, seriously, if I need it, it doesn't make me sleepy )

I am craving dairy, and wanting a lot more sleep, which is unusual, but ok. I have lost a few pounds.

What's funny is I do have more energy too, it's just not manic yee-haa! energy, but a slow sustained level--as in, let's go outside and do more work.

My rosacea is still better. That alone would make it worth it.

Day 20, just now took my two heaping tsp. I had to have blood work this morning because I have my very first appointment at the VA clinic on Wednesday, so I didn't take it first thing like I usually do.

I just checked the large brown spot on my face (the size of my little fingernail) and the smaller one below that has started to develop. The smaller one does seem to be much lighter and the larger one is fading very much on the edges and lighter over all. That's great because these spots were not the king that could be frozen off.

My energy level is still great, not feeling my age physically or mentally since I've been taking the DE.

I guess I should finally share my results with everyone too. I have been messaging with Reborn and sharing with her till I saw results. The first day I took a teaspoon I had a horrible headache. Just kept getting worse as the day wore on. Day two I had a bad headache and it turned into a migraine as the day wore on. Day three I had headache but I managed with it. Day four I had a headache but it eventually went away! So the headaches were my detoxing apparantly. Glad that part is over! I noticed more energy by day three. I have been chronically ill for several years so I haven't been able to do much at a time. My thinking is getting clearer but has a ways to go.

I am sure I have passed parasites. I didn't see them but saw their egg sacs. Yuck that was enough for me! Anyway, I just don't want to look now. I am taking a rounded teaspoon a day now as it is day 7. Tomorrow I try two teaspoons! I have had the same bladder problem that Renee described for years. Gotta go, gotta go, gotta go right now! And all the time! It is called Insterstitial Cystitis. I took pills for it for years but they got up to $70 a month so I quit taking them. It was hard for me to go anywhere as I had to find a restroom right away. This past weekend I realized that I made a two hour and a half hour trip and both ways didn't have to go to the bathroom!! That is huge for me! Then I realized I don't have that urge all the time to go. I am thinking it was caused by parasites now! I used to stay home a lot because I felt like I had to pee all the time! I was also able to do some very hard work this weekend in 96 degree heat index and I was fine!! I didn't feel sick or get a migraine or have to go lay down!! I could have done more work. And it was carrying heavy furniture in and out of a trailer and moving it. I would have never been able to do that before without getting sick! I am excited to say the least!!

Hubby has been taking it too. He is healthy to begin with so he had no problems with sickness or anything. He said from day one he could tell the difference in his energy level. He can work like a horse but age was catching up with him the past couple of years. He said he was feeling like he used to!! Yeah!!

I did feel sick to my stomach just slightly the first few days too. I forgot about that. I don't feel that any more. My face was looking pretty awful about the third day. It is clearing today. Hope it gets back to the way it used to look. I have an age spot on my arm that I have had for several years. The doctor said it was just thickening of the skin and didn't worry about it. It is brown. Well today it has softened and feels like it is getting better! I will let you know when it's gone!! I just cannot believe my eyes!!

I hope there are many more good things to happen for us all. I am afraid they will take DE away from us when they find out it is making us all better. You know they have to keep us sick!!!

Day 10. Still waiting for something to happen that's noticeable. I'm up to 2 Tbsp per day, 1 Tbsp in the morning, one in mid afternoon. No problems sleeping. Cramps in feet seem to be easing, but that's about it. Sweetie's up to 1 tsp morning and afternoon. Bladder irritation seems to be over, but she did the antibiotic thang just in case.

Still waiting to grow 5" taller, drop 20 lbs and start looking like Brad Pitt. Any day now, right?? :D

One thing I forgot to report is, earlier I was outside in the bright sunshine, bent over to pick something up and noticed my toenails. The smallest toe and the one next to it on my right foot have has a nail fungus (getting worse) for way too long. The fungus is essentially gone now, one more cutting and it will be gone. Now they look like normal toenails.

Day 3 for us. I didn't think I had anything to report until late last night I realized that I hadn't been sneezing like usual that day. Today I paid attention and I've only had to blow my nose one time, which is an absolute miracle! I live with Kleenex at hand all the time because my allergies are so bad and I haven't found anything that helps that doesn't put me to sleep. To go all day and not need to sneeze or have a runny nose is amazing to me!

Hubby says he doesn't see any difference yet, but I see him up and moving today, which he hasn't been able to do, and he's moving easier than usual. Nothing earthshattering, but nice to see!

My DH has improved energy and continues to have multiple, huge BM's every day. I am taking much less - 1 teaspoon/day. Really tired, everything hurts, bloated, constipated and really, really bad depression and anxiety. Absolute, full blown herx. I am floating in water - pushing magnesium, even took a laxative last night. So, while I am sorry I'm not seeing positive things, the fact that I seem to be herxing is itself positive. Something is dying, I think.

One maybe positive - I have those yucky, raised age spots on my back. I think they are getting drier. Possibly smaller, but certainly drier.

Well, I'm sorry but my report is not good.

After taking it for about 5 days, I got a bladder infection. (this is not uncommon for me)

We were out of town but as soon as we got home, I took penicillin because that was all I had. I also quit taking the DE temporarily. The infection cleared up immediately and I continued through the ten days. I also ordered some antibiotics just in case it came back because I have in the past used penicillin for the infection but 8 out of 10 - it comes back. (Penicillin is not good for bacteria infection)

I received the antibiotics and put them up for future use.

Before finishing the penicillin (toward the end of the 10 days) - I started to take the DE again.

After 5-6 days, the bladder infection returned. I tried Apple Cider Vinegar, Cranberry treatment etc... no use - started on the antibiotics.

This morning, I just realized that I do not have a bladder infection at all.

I have diverticuli and THIS is what is getting infected.
I have diverticulitis. It's very bad this go round.
It is different than what I have had in the past in that it is painful and apparently swollen a little more toward the bladder than further on my left side as typical.

Apparently, the diverticulitis has swollen my lower colon so badly that it is putting pressure on my bladder and that is why I thought I had a bladder infection.

Today, I will continue the antibiotics but discontinue the DE.

It's bad. Very swollen, painful and high fever.

I know they say it is good for diverticuli but maybe only for prevention.

NOW, my hubby is doing wonderful on it and thinks it is great. More energy, arthritis in hands gone and he feels great.

Hopefully, I will get better today. If not, I may have to go to doctor or even emergency room of hospital.

Try taking this along with plenty of vegetables. The DE shouldn't be a problem as it tends to lover bacteria levels and move rubbish out of your colon.

Alkaline Diet vs. Pharmaceuticals

http://suite101.com/article/how-the-alkaline-diet-cures-diverticulitis-a161697

Rarely in medical literature does traditional medicine specifically address the benefits of the alkaline diet in reducing diverticulitis. Medical research is funded primarily for producing pharmaceuticals, many that are acidifying. But, Ohio State University Medical Center confirms that a low-fiber diet is the main cause of diverticular disease. “The disease is common in developed or industrialized countries – particularly the United States, England, and Australia – where low-fiber diets are common…. It is rare in countries in Asia and Africa, where people eat high-fiber diets,” they state on their website.

“Fiber rich diets help prevent constipation by softening and adding bulk to stool and by speeding its passage through the colon. Such diets are also associated with decreased risk of diverticulosis,” concurs the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University.

Causes and Symptoms of Diverticulitis

What are the most common symptoms of diverticular disease? It could include mild cramps, bloating, and constipation. The most common symptom is abdominal pain with tenderness on the left side of the lower abdomen. Vomiting, chills, cramping, fever, nausea and constipation may also occur.

The symptoms of diverticular disease may resemble other medical conditions and it is advised to consult your physician for a diagnosis. Your physician may perform a digital rectal examination (DRE) or order a computed tomography (CT) scan to diagnose diverticulitis.

Treatment for diverticulitis may require medications and resting the colon, with liquid diet and bed rest. Hospitalization may be required for severe attacks and, the last resort, surgery, could be required to remove the area of diverticulitis causing the problem.

Disease Prevention on The Alkaline Diet

Diverticulitis affects a great many people in elder years. Before reaching that stage, it is smarter to change to a high fiber diet and eat whole grains. By following the principles of an alkaline diet to achieve a proper alkaline-acid balance your digestive tract will be healthy and normal. The alkaline diet is not merely a weight loss program but a lifestyle program that restores your health by creating an ideal alkaline-acid balance.

Top 10 Benefits of Eating Chia Seeds
http://www.mychiaseeds.com/Articles/Top10ChiaBenefits.html

3. Help Prevent Diverticulitis / Diverticulosis
With the abundance of over-processed foods and white flour on the market today, rich sources of fiber are harder to come by. These foods of convenience have contributed to the rise of diverticulitis. Irregularity is a

big factor in this risky condition. To help ensure regularity, you need plenty of soluble and insoluble fiber in your diet. If you don’t want to eat celery, and whole-grain everything…or piles of bran flakes, the Chia Seed is here to help. Each seed is coated with soluble fibers which aid its gelling action. The exterior of the seed is protected by insoluble fiber. The insoluble fiber is unable to be digested (it does not contribute any calories, or break down) so instead, it helps keep food moving smoothly through the digestive process. Soluble fiber, and the gel coating of the seed keeps the colon hydrated and ensures the easy movement of food.

I eat a very healthy diet which includes fresh veggies, fresh fruits and fresh meat. No processed foods.

I was diagnosed with diverticuli 14 yrs ago and I was 42 at the time. I have learned there are only two things that trigger diverticulitis for me and that is high stress and popcorn.

They say do not eat seeds or nuts but I eat them all the time with no problem. Popcorn is the only food item I eat that causes the infection. (kernals are not good)

I've only had one infection in the last 5 years and that was when I went to the theater and stupidly ate popcorn. The doc gave me antibiotics and it cleared up.
That is until now - twice - taking the De.

I do not have a problem with bowels - working normal.

I had a colonoscopy(sp?) 6 months ago and all was well plus doc said diverticuli was not bad enough to cause concern.

Has No Life - Lives on TB
LeViolinist posted this back on page 6 and it made me take notice. With MS the myelin sheath is so important, loosing it causes causes most of the problems with MS.

For years the professionals said once lost it couldn't be regenerated. Now they know it can be regenerated in some Ms patients, not in others. Perhaps this parasite is the reason. Also it would be good for ALS patients to note as they too loose the protective covering to nerves.

I've ordered and will be trying DE for this reason, I'm more than hopeful that other benefits will show themselves after reading and rereading all 700+posts. I've also been digging through research which has very little to add on DE and the myelin.

Sometimes just a small nugget like this is worth its weight in gold. I started regenerating myelin by using St John's wort. Have the xrays to prove the regeneration. That was just one of those small nuggets I found researching ALS for a friend. No MS literature contains this nugget. Sadly research does not cross fields from one disease to the other.

So, I'm anxiously awaiting delivery to get started.

http://www.shadowridgedonkeys.com/permaguard_humans.htm

Which is more dangerous? Despite their almost invisibility, small parasites can be extremely dangerous. Microscopic parasites can destroy calcium lining in your bones, eat the myecin lining off your nerve cells (causing breakdown of the brain-nerve connection) and even inhabit the liver, colon and other areas causing major discomforts and problems. The small parasites reproduce by duplicating themselves in a manner similar to bacteria or viral reproduction.

I love chia - we make the chia gel. You can read more about chia here:

http://www.rawreform.com/content/view/345/127/

We make some up, let it sit for about 5 hrs & put it in smoothies, dump a big spoonful on a salad, after oatmeal has cooled a little, we'll put a spoonful in there, etc. Then put it in the refrigerator. My daughter puts a little in her dog's food every day & it helped his dry skin.

Pests hate the chia plant so they leave it alone. You'll see organic chia also, but don't need that as they don't have to spray chia plants. We just got regular chia off Amazon in 5 lb bags.

Sassy,
My former boss had ulcerative colitis, so bad the doc told him he might need a colostomy. He started taking aloe vera at about a pint a day. After a few months, they did another scope and found his colon was perfect. No sign of colitis. Maybe that would be helpful for the diverticulitis also. Just a thought.

On a slightly different note, I'm on day 23, and so are our dogs. Our 18 year old Aussie, who we really thought was at death's door, is experiencing wonderful results. She could hardly move with old age, and is now amazingly mobile. Not exactly puppy bouncy, but now she can get up without help and can remain up without falling down and she's not just sleeping 22 hours/day, but back to roaming her yard checking out the sights and smells. I knew my arthritis pains were dramatically improved(gone actually), but hadn't really anticipated the dog's dramatic change.

My tinnitus comes and goes and I can't say the change is dramatic, but it does seem to be improving because in the past it was always there, never letting up. So, I hope that'll be another noteworthy benefit with a bit more time. And I think my BFF is FINALLY almost ready to start "eating dirt" as she refers to it. She has a bunch of health issues that the Drs can't track down and I have great hopes for her seeing a major benefit if she'll just bite the bullet and start.

Thanks for the link Happygrandma. Great info.

Alrighty, I thought this would be good to share here. It is something that I have tried to avoid looking at but something made me want to see the facts. Here it is... the icky truth and symptoms. (Gosh I so wanted to put my fingers in my ears and sing LA-LA-LA)

http://www.wisehealthcenter.com/Human-parasites-symptoms.html

WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF PARASITES?
The symptoms of parasites in humans will vary depending on the type of parasite that is affecting you. You may have contracted roundworm (the parasite that produces both trichinosis and ascariasis), ringworm (the parasite responsible for tinea capitis) or plasmodium (the parasite that causes malaria). However, there are some commonalities in the symptoms of human parasites that can indicate that you've contracted one of these infections.

• Diarrhoea Certain parasites, primarily protozoa, produce a prostaglandin (hormone like substances found in various human tissues) which creates a sodium and chloride loss that leads to frequent watery stools. The diarrhoea process in parasite infection is, therefore, a function of the parasite, not the body's attempt to rid itself of an infectious organism.

• Constipation Some parasites, because of their shape and large size. can physically obstruct certain organs. Heavy worm infections can block the common bile duct and the intestinal tract, making elimination infrequent and difficult.

• Nausea and vomiting Another fairly common symptom of a parasite will be periodic episodes of nausea and vomiting. Much like the symptom of diarrhea, nausea and vomiting can be caused by the infection of the parasite within some tissue of the digestive system, most commonly the intestines. It is within this area of the body that many parasites mature and even breed, which can prompt nausea and vomiting in many people.

• Abdominal Cramping Basically going hand-in-hand with diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, many parasites that affect people can also bring on some amount of cramping within the abdominal region. This is largely due to the body's reaction to the parasites as they breed and multiply. The cramping can run from dull to quite sharp, based on the amount of parasites currently in your system

• Shortness of Breath Sometimes the parasites, which usually reside in the digestive system, make a trek into the lungs. With this comes shortness of breath, coughing and wheezing.

• dizziness

• changes in appetite

• gas and bloating Some parasites live in the upper small intestine where the inflammation they produce causes both gas and bloating. The situation can be magnified when hard-to-digest foods such as beans and raw fruits and vegetables are eaten. Persistent abdominal distention is a frequent sign of hidden invaders. These gastrointestinal symptoms can persist intermittently for many months or years if the parasites are not eliminated from the body.

• indigestion

• multiple food allergies

• loss of appetite

• Headaches If you've contracted a parasite of some sort, you may also begin to suffer from periodic headaches, but these usually accompany the more common symptoms as mentioned above. These headaches are generally moderate to severe, and react to over-the-counter pain relievers like aspirin and ibuprofen

• itching around the anus especially at night (indicating pinworms)

• restlessness and difficulty sleeping Multiple awakening during the night particularly between 2 and 3 AM, are possibly caused by the body's attempts to eliminate toxic wastes via the liver. These hours are governed by the liver. Sleep disturbances are also caused by nocturnal exits of certain parasites through the anus, creating the intense discomfort and itching.

• sore and aching intestines

• weight loss (although not necessarily)

• itching on the soles of the feet sometimes accompanied by a rash

• coughing bloody sputum in some cases

• Fever Some parasites may also elicit a reaction in the body in the form of a fever. It may be moderate fever of 100 to 101 degrees Fahrenheit or a relatively high fever of 103 degrees Fahrenheit and above. The reason for the variance is two-fold, as it depends on both the type of parasite you've contracted and the way in which your body reacts to the parasite. With this fever, you may begin to experience the chills or the sweats, but that depends again on your reaction to the parasite and the type of parasite in your system.

• palpitations (indicating hookworms)

• anaemia Some varieties of intestinal parasites attach themselves to the mucosal lining of the intestines and then leach nutrients from the human host. If they are present in large enough numbers, they can create enough blood loss to cause a type of iron deficiency or pernicious

• fatigue If left untreated, parasites can lead to a great deal of fatigue and exhaustion, as the other symptoms and the parasites themselves will generally take a toll on a person's body. This will leave them lethargic and just not feeling up to snuff. It may also begin to cause some pain and discomfort in neighboring muscles of the body, especially when they begin to invade your bloodstream and inevitably your muscles.

• muscle pain Parasites are known to migrate to encyst (become enclosed in a sac) in joint fluids, and worms can encyst in muscles. Once Ads happens, pain becomes evident and is often assumed to be caused by arthritis Joint and muscle pains and inflammation are also the result of tissue damage caused by some parasites of the body's ongoing immune response to then- presence.

• conjunctivitis

• facial swelling around the eyes (indicating trichinosis)

• Wheezing and coughing , followed by vomiting, stomach pain and bloating (suggesting ascariasis or threadworms)
