Just wanted to remind everyone that we're about two weeks from kicking off the annual membership fee drive.

Heads up!

As an aside, vBulletin 5.0 was just released to production. I'm going to wait two months and then we're going to upgrade.

Just so we can start saving pennies, what's the goal per member? I realize some can't afford anything in O's economy and those of us who can afford a few dollars extra will try to pick it up.
What's a good number to shoot for? $25 each? $50 each? Give us a target.

The goal is equivalent to $12 per member per year. But there are many members who are so financially strained that they can't send anything, so I always ask that those go can, please send more to cover them. Since we're now one pay period away from the drive, that's why I mentioned it now, so people can budget for it.

Oh, and the new version should also allow us to reinstall all the nice styles we once had in each room. I looking forward to that. When we upgraded to the version we're on now we were ONE RELEASE EARLY from them including a style importer from the version 3 release. And they released that version about six weeks after we'd upgraded. I was upset to say the least.

You guys do know that this thread was just a heads-up, right? I'll send out the global email when it's time. Sure you can send it early, but that wasn't the point of this. I hate the annual fund appraiser more than anything else in my life, and want it to be, above all things, SHORT.

ETA: Thanks to those who've already sent theirs in. Everyone that does it early shortens my personal misery.

Hope I shortened your personal misery. We all seem to have enough of that lately. Still praying for you also!

Done :-) Dennis, I think you need to post a Dennis Olson personal misery thermometer. As donations come in your misery level drops :-)

I don't care if you do your part or not. At least you continue to benefit from the forum's existence. I'll let your conscience decide for you as to whether or not to support the forum. Bear in mind that keeping the forum open has nothing at all to do with me personally. It's for everyone. Your call man.

Dennis,

I will not use PayPal - been ripped off before. The address at the top of the forum - is that the one to use for snail mail???

By way of clarification, anyone who thinks that the 12+ years I've run this place has been some kind of "personal reward" to me, is entirely delusional, and in need of serious medication. Between the regular requirements for new servers, dealing with the site host, raising funds to keep the lights on, and of course, the wonderful experience of the UB scum trying to destroy my life for nearly a decade, it's been anything but fun and games. And let's not forget my losing my job because I run the place.

No, Grantbo, if you are unhappy here, it's time for you to move on. Your participation, as well as that of everyone for that matter, has been entirely free from consequences. Only MY participation has not. Only MY participation has cost me dearly for a decade. Go away Grant. Find a new cyber-home. Jackass....

Thanks for the reminder Dennis. Thanks to EVERYONE who entice me to this board several times a day for the REAL news.
It's not always a good place for those who like to bitch about each other since it seems everyone can hold their own.

Perhaps someday someone will fix this bug/feature - that has been with us since 2011:

http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/show...-date-on-the-forum-message-lists&daysprune=-1

click on New Messages - and tell me the date/time of the latest post from the thread listing - pix in above.

Indicates to me that the administrators of TB2K does not read the Member Suggestion fori very often.
Why donate when such notes are ignored for years ?

Why donate? Do you come here to read? How often? Would the place closing bother you?

As to your problem, did you ever try to PM a staff member and call their attention to your thread? We don't get many posts in that room, which is why sometimes things get missed.

Yes I made a big deal of it back then - but that was soon after the last upgrade ...

Maybe after the next upgrade you can check that room a few weeks later for remaining issues.

I'll put a few dollars in the mail this week. Going on three years of poverty row and financial hardship so it feels good to be able to do anything.

Mine went in the mail today. Thank you Dennis for all that you do here. I asked myself what would I do if I did not have this place to check into and read the truth and helpful hints and testimonials, and I admitted that I would miss it. It has become an integral part of the day.
