Personally, I don't understand the concept of sharing stuff like this with others.

Damn straight. I'd never humiliate myself by admitting I couldn't fix my own lawn mower. Instead, I'd "fix" it and then claim it was made cheap, fell apart when I was fixin' it, and then go buy a new one. (hehe)

At least you didn't have to shovel three feet of snow! There must be a war on lawnmowers this past week tho'. Our riding mower wouldn't start. Got a new battery, still no start. Hubby called a repair tractor company. they charged 40.00 to pick it up. The NEW battery was no good!!! (I had wondered but kept my mouth shut). Husband went back to the company that sold the "new" battery and they wouldn't do anything about it! Needless to say, we won't be visiting them again.

Viyanna stood in the middle of her yard wondering what to do next. Her mower had
died, her weed whacker was fried, and her machete blade was broken. Yet still the
grasses and weeds grew as if possessed by evil lawn spirits. Viyanna sighed deeply
and regretted she had impulsively signed up for the Green Jungle SuperGro fertilizer
treatment because the salesman guaranteed her lawn would grow like crazy or she
could have her money back. Viyanna wished she had her money back to buy napalm.

You've actually got a couple a little closer, but the nearest to you is still about 85-90 miles away, outside of Lagrange near Lake Fayette according to pure-gas.org. There's another up near Brownwood in the opposite direction.

Just re-center the map and zoom in.

Thanks for posting this. I plan to run over to LA and get some of the good stuff for my mower.

Regarding using a push rotary mower -- I have one, but it does not work all that well on St Augustine or weeds. I'm on a steep (for TX) hill and mowing is a challenge. I've been thinking of going the goat route.

YW. :)

I have a friend who has about a one acre pond in his backyard and the levee side of it is very steep, pretty long, and generally a PITA to mow. He went the goat route and they keep it very presentable. He fixed a few tie-off points in the ground along the length of the levee and put two goats on chains tethered to the tie-offs. The chains are long enough to let them drink from the pond and when they get one area eaten down he just unhooks them and moves them to the next two points. During the late spring, summer, and early fall he doesn't have to feed them anything additional and they take care of all the table scraps as well.
