Just for giggles and grins I plucked ONE half price angel food cake out of the WHOLE GROCERY cart full of them marked half price in the bakery section of my Fred Meyer grocery, with the idea of trying to slice and DRY it in my barely on 200 degree oven as a "prep" dessert or treat.

I should have bought ten of them. They came out wonderful!!
I Called the store and they are all gone. I will know the next time I see them.

Hmm, maybe I should try slicing and dehydrating some half price poppyseed or chocolate muffins, or pound cake?

I don't know... it would seem that the angel food cake is a different type of baked good, but you (and us too) will never know if you don't give it a shot!

Oh yeah, I thought I was the only one who bought one of something and went back to find a pile of them gone. ;)

If I can afford it, when I see something on sale that I can use in my preps, I buy them all, but then I'm compulsive that way.

Wait! Wait! Wait! So you dried a store bought angel food cake? And it came out good? Did you use a dehydrator or just a low temp on the oven? How would you store this for long term?

I know...so many questions...

... if I recall correctly, an angel food cake has very little fat. If you try to dehydrate something like a pound cake, which is richer, I think it might not dry out as well. And if you keep it in storage, perhaps the fat will go rancid? Purely speculation on my part...

I came across some HUGE roasters (Oster brand) on Amazon for $33 each, +FREE shipping.
My eyes bugged out and I jumped, buying TWO.(One for a relative)

THEY MUST HAVE BEEN MIS-MARKED!!


I ALSO found the white DOULTON 10" SUPER STERASYL CERAMIC GRAVITY WATER FILTER CANDLES FOR $20 each(a little over half price) on Amazon and picked up 8 of em, but one arrived broken. I had them pick it up and they credited me for it. THEY ONLY FIT IN THE TWO LARGEST BERKEY WATER FILTERS, so DO NOT buy them for a "BIG BERKEY", THEY ARE TOO LONG FOR THE LID TO COVER EM.
