Help remembering survival fiction

Does anyone remember reading a homebrew survival story that was written in (what I remember as) a homesteading forum, in a series of posts several years ago? I never finished reading it and can't find it in my bookmarks.

I recall that is had a community banding together to develop and till community gardens with the advice of an elderly man; some shadetree welders who fabbed tools; and a veterinarian who acted as the doctor.

Does this ring a bell?

I checked out Lights Out, turns out I *had* read it before, but it missed some key details and the story line wasn't quite like the other story I was remembering.

With amazing google-fu and process of elimination, I finally found it. It's called "We interrupt this program" from Homesteading Today.

Read that, very good story. I think the author has/had another effort floating around that he never finished (I know, surprise) that was alos very good reading.

As soon as I read your post, I knew the story, but couldn't think of the name. I really enjoyed reading it.

Well it looks like "Light's Out" is going to be a movie now (a series). I've been doing a little bit of email correspondence with one of the Executive Producers of the movie "Remnants" (finally got my copies) and he sent me an email today with a link to the "Indiegogo" site for the movie "Light's Out".....it was a great read when I read when I read it on the forum here.

He sent me an email last month and said he will be producing a new move and said I would recognize the story but would not tell me what it was....well now I know, I would have never guessed it.

What happened to halffast....is he no longer a member here?
