I am so very sorry for your loss. Had to get the kleenex to wipe my eyes. I have a 14 year old dog that got me through the loss of my wife to cancer. I know the day is coming sooner than I want to think about. Our pets are family members, and I mourn your loss.

She was my best friend in the world, helped me raise my kids, was only 9 years old. Took her to the vet. It was so sudden. I can't handle this. I don't know what to do.

Trixie is so cute. I am so very sorry at your loss. At least you were with her at the passing. They become like our kids. Praying for your peace of mind at this time.

It always hurts to lose such a close friend. I am hoping your heart can find some rest from the grief soon. Always remember the joy you shared with your friend and know that your friend was grateful for all your love.

My heart goes out to you. What a cutie she is :-) There is always that one special little gift from the Lord that is so precious to any animal lover. The Lord blessed you in your knowing Trixie and being the human choosen to look after her. That's the way I look at all my dear, precious animals that the Lord has entrusted me to look after. She made your life better.

Oh no...I'm so sorry, she's adorable. I pray God brings you comfort to fill that empty space.

Yes, she was my baby and absolutely adorable. Thank you for the prayers. This is not easy and I am slowly dying inside. Zoe (her buddy) is not doing well. Please pray for her too. She is our 3 year old yorkie.

I have never been able to hold an animal while it was put to sleep. But, I always vowed to be there for Trixie in the end. I guess God decided how it would go and that I would be there to hold her. I held her for several hours in the vets office while tests were be running, etc. That is how she left. Peacefully in my arms.

Having lost my boy after 13 years, I know what you are going through. It's been a year now, but not a day passes that I don't miss him terribly. I was with him to the end and yes, it's hard to bear. My condolences to you and your youngster.

Trixie is not lost--she just went ahead to scout the way.
When it is your time, she'll be waiting patiently for you.

And I know exactly how you feel--I lost my big shepherd Sammy at the end of August.

Trixie is adorable. Am so sorry she is gone, but she just went ahead to heaven and will be waiting for you. We lost
our 14 year old Pom almost a year ago and we still miss her, but we held her as she went also and know she went
in peace, so we know how you feel, and know Trixie doesn't want you to feel so sad but enjoy good memories of her.

God Bless you - It is so hard to lose a sweet pet. You will see her again because you love her - May God comfort and heal you all in this sudden loss.

You did the best thing for her, and gave her the last gift you could give her. Animals don't fear death, but they don't understand pain and not feeling well. It sounds like she had a wonderful life with you. It will get better, I promise, but it takes time. And they never, ever live long enough. :-(

Does this get any easier? She died two days ago. I slept great last night and woke up this morning crying. The pain is brand new again. I just miss her so much. She was always watching me. She was my buddy and baby. My other dog, Zoe, is depressed. They were really close. I feel like I should be trying to get back to normal, but there are so many reminders around my house. Her picture is up, her toys on the floor still. With my other dogs, they were old so I was more ready. I just wasn't ready yet for this. I feel like I should have done something more.

You lost your pup unexpectedly, even when it is "expected" it's hard to come to terms with.

It is hard, what you are feeling is normal.

It will get easier.

When the pain is hard, tell yourself a true fact about your pup.
Be specific.
"She had such a great personality...she rolled that ball with her nose like a pro! We were so lucky to have each other".

My theory is that:
You are acknowledging loss & filling the space with happy memories.
Your heart will eventually feel what your brain tells it to.

EVERYONE with a pet/once had a pet dreads/cringes thinking about where you are right now.
The pain & loss just SUCK and there is no way getting around it unless we never have a pet in our lives to start with.

Thank you, I will try to do that. I keep thinking about how she looked when she died. About how she hugged me one last time and gave me kisses. I've never held a dog before or have even gone when they've been euthanized because I didn't think I could handle it. Maybe I am not handling it? With her though, I had to. I had promised myself I would. God made sure I was there.

I've had some people tell me that they cannot have pets because they always die before we do and they grieve so much. I know what they mean.

When our pets die, we do go through the most horrible grief. It's not like it was a person we have fights with and can't stand. These precious babies give us so much comfort and all they ask for is a bit of our time and love. I do understand that initial feeling of being overwhelmed by unexpected loss (my beloved cat died when hit by a car) and I could hardly breathe for awhile there. I am more of a dog person myself and she was a young stray cat who came and wormed her way into my heart.

Anyway, God granted many blessings to you by giving you the time you had with her. A little light went out yesterday.

So sorry to hear about the passing of your pup. I woke up this morning with two huge furry bodies laying up against me. Morning snuggles all-round. I can't imagine the sadness of being alone when their time with me is through.

Thank you. I woke up and had Zoe, my yorkie, snuggled up against me. She seems so lost though and keeps looking for Trixie where Trixie used to sleep. I can't imagine going through this without any other dogs.

My 5 dogs are my comfort. (crazy dog person:rdog::rdog::rdog::rdog::rdog:)
I can sit in the recliner and one of my dogs will hop up and sit next to me.
I can feel all the tension leave when they come near. We call it doggy therapy at my house. I understand all too well.
