In Appreciation

Thanks for allowing me to join this forum. I am a Canadian whose ancestors have been roaming around up here for the last couple of hundred years. My appreciation for my homeland is profound but no less profound is my appreciation for our closest neighbour, the U.S.A. My love affair with American began, as it did for many of my fellow citizens, at an early age living in southern Ontario. For my brother, it was a trip to Buffalo to see a football game or just to have some fun; for the gals, it was shopping across the border at the wonderful warehouse outlets so prevalent in those days. The love affair continued as my husband and I spent vacations boating on Lake Ontario, down the St. Lawrence to Alexandria Bay in beautiful upper New York State. And now years later from our sanctuary on the west coast, we have the privilege of spending the winter months in the U.S. southwest, the realization of a long-held dream. We came from modest families but have lived the "North" American dream: we worked hard (and still do) and made a comfortable life for ourselves.

For the first time in my life I feel another type of profound feeling, something I thought would never be part of my life: FEAR; fear for my personal financial security and physical safety and, perhaps more importantly, fear for the future of our two great countries.

Thanks to this forum, I have become a prepper. I have also found the situational awareness threat an invaluable "head's up" for personal safety. On our road trips, our beloved big black Doberman sits prominently in the back seat. That's about the best we Canadians can do!

After lurking for a number of years and viewing this forum frequently throughout the day, I have become impressed by the quality of information provided and by the high standards maintained by the Administrators. It is a privilege to be a member, and I hope I can also make some meaningful contributions from a "northern" perspective. I would also be pleased to address any questions from other forum members wondering about where Canadians stand on certain issues. There are a lot of misconceptions in that regard perhaps generated by the more vocal few of my fellow citizens.

Again, many thanks for this opportunity.

Wait! What?
Hi, I'm Nature_Lover, and I see a lot of online friends here from all over the net.
I've been reading TB2K for several years, and I'm ready to participate.

This is my second attempt at an intro, I lost my first one when it didn't post.
This is the message I got... "Your submission could not be processed because a security token was invalid."
So my intro is shorter than I had planned, because I don't know if that token is fixed yet.
Thanks for the add!

Dennis, thanks for info on Blogs. my bad on posting it there. How do I erase it to cancel that blog, I looked for a delete and didn't find any place to pull down or click. Sorry, I should have started out with reading for a while, but I am the type of person that just dives into things and learns on the job. Thanks for your help.

Hi:
Thank you Dennis for allowing me to join. I have just been a lurker for a few days and was unable to use many of the forum tools. Many of your discussions here really interest me. I look forward to participating and meeting everyone. I live in rural NW Arizona. I feel like my family is prepped fairly well both physically and spiritually.

Hello to you all,

Oh my, I just don't think of myself as a "lurker."

I've visited this site for a very long time and read "The Flying Dutchman" without fail.

How nice to upgrade to being a "Member," although it may take me time to figure out how all this works:

My little Yorkie is a joy in my life so I clicked on: rdog::rdog::rdog: Only wanted one running dog, but ended up with 2! Oh well.

Here in NE PA the "Greatest Depression" started some time ago.

I too have been a lurker for the past five years or so. I saw the invite for "lurkers" and said oh ya thats me. That invite got me motivated to finally join this group. Thank you for letting me be a part of it.

Adapting to the new paradigm
Hi all

Just wanted to say goodluck an Godspeed. Guess I am a lil bit of a latecomer here, but have been @TTOL for a couple years now. Seems to be a much broader spectrum of info here. Looking forward to the next 2 weeks of being able to read online. :bhmo: as I think that's all we've got. ( I sure hope I'm wrong )

I have only been here a few months myself.
It takes a while to learn the rules. I am still learning them.
