Some reports hint our ambassador to Libya was raped and tortured before his death, citing evidence from photos in middle eastern press (belt unbuckled, pants pulled down, brusing on stomach area). If this turns out to be true, what difference will it make in the US response to the murder? Would you feel differently if you heard he'd been tortured, rather than just dying of smoke inhalation? Would/Should US policy change if this is the case?

It's a hypothetical question at the moment. But as the investigation continues, who knows what will come out.

Whether he was killed right away or tortured and sodomized (which appear to be factual), this should happen:

Boimb the city until there is nothing left of it. Remove all US personnel from Libya first.

The Benghazi, Libya Consulate (with no Marine contingent or reinforced building protection) is warned on Sept. 4th that a mob protest will be held on Sept. 11th at its location. No additional Marine personnel are moved to the location from Tripoli. However, for reasons unknown, the Ambassador is on-site with 1 USAF Communications Specialist, 2 lightly armed Marines, and an undetermined number of Libyan security personnel.
The mob protest was actually a cover for a well-planned and organized assassination attempt by a team of 15-20 AQL (Al Qaeda Libya) fighters who were there to kill the Amb. in revenge for our killing an Al Qaeda leader in June.
At 10PM, AQL opened fire and attacked in two waves. A running gunfight ensues and it lasts until 2:30AM. For reasons not explained, no attempt is made to reinforce the Marines during this 4.5 hour battle. For me, that seems like mis-reporting because it does not make any sense.
The fight began when a volley of RPG is fired at the Consulate from the crowd and either those rounds set fire to the building, or the building is set on fire. After the volley, one team of AQL moves to breach the Consulate, but comes into contact with Libyan security and is supposedly repelled. During the fight, the Amb. becomes separated in the dense smoke and dies of smoke inhalation, however, for some reason the post-mortem report confirms that the Amb. was sodomized shortly before his death.
The USAF Coms. spec., and 2 Marines move to a Consulate car to link up for extraction at the safe house, but come under close small arms fire. The 2 Marines are killed on site after volunteering to form a rear guard to protect the car in its escape. The remaining USAF Coms. Spec. attempts to drive away, but is ambushed by a blocking AQL force that was waiting for him and was assuming that the Amb. was in the car.
It is also being learned now that during the engagement, the al Queda assassination squad received real time intelligence on the Ambassador's vehicle, convoy and route, the safe house location and when the Ambassador arrived, the relief force, their timing, route and rendezvous destination. .
As this is happening a 6-man ex-fil team from Tripoli is helicoptered to the safe house. Upon landing they take heavy weapons fire from a neighboring farm house.
A Marine(?) sniper moves to the roof, but is hit by an RPG round and falls to the street. One soldier is killed on the ground after landing. (That makes 6 casualties. The media refers to only 4.)
As this fight is on-going at the safe house, Libyan security forces are arranging several unarmed pick-up trucks to get the Consulate staff from the safe house to the airport, but the on-site commanding Libyan officer was told that there would be only 10 people. There were close to 37. At some point the safe house catches fire.
In the confusion, more trucks are gathered up from what has been referred to as "friendly Libyan forces" and all of the remaining staff, Marines, and the casualties are moved to the airport. One report noted 15-17 casualties at the safe house (+2 KIA), but I do not know where that came from.
Somewhere in all of this some friendly Libyans take the dead Ambassador to the hospital, but first parade his dead body around.
There has been no mention of the names (or where the bodies are) of the 2 Marines and the USAF Coms. Spec. killed at the Consulate.
It has been reported, but not confirmed, that Obama was informed that the Consulate was being attacked and he then went to sleep. He does not appear to ask about the outcome until the next morning which left him unprepared to make a statement. Romney beat him to that statement and condemned Obama. Also, on Sept. 11th, the Egyptian Embassy was breached by a mob and no effort was made by the Marines on duty to stop or remove them from the Embassy walls. As it turns out, the Marines at the Egyptian Embassy are not permitted to carry live ammo. Oops.

Too late for the first item. Second and third should happen first thing tomorrow morning, since Obama didn't have the balls to do it today. I'm not holding my breath though. Maybe one day we will have a leader who will stand up for the citizens of the country that he "leads". Not holding my breath for that to happen any time soon either.

I guess all the blood lust and foreign enemies/distractions is doing what it is intended to do, and that is distracting Americans form the real enemy.

The rise in Pm's was an outcome of the FED printing...printing ...printing....yet, I see little outrage about this on the boards that I frequent. I will again predict right here and now, $5.00 per gallon gasoline, and a huge depreciation of the U.S. dollar(this will happen over the coming year into 2013 in my opinion) As for inflation? Liberating Libya consisted of eliminating Khadaffi, and installing a central bank.

And backing the MB.

Our foreign policy is completely insane and these incidents are just showing us what happens when you piss off enough people.

Nuking any city would result in the nuking of American cities, which would then escalate.

I'm sorry, but I think many of my countrymen have swallowed the propaganda hook line and sinker, and in their minds have made the Muslims into sub-humans, or untermenschen more accurately.

The biggest threat to us, our freedom, our liberty and our Constitution does not reside in a mosque. It resides in several large white buildings in the District of Columbia and all these false flag attacks are designed to shift focus away from that fact and toward these backward people who "hate us for our freedom and want to kill us all".

It's a game as old as civilization itself. It's depressing that so many otherwise intelligent and Christian people can be turned to bloodlust so easily.

Regarding Muslims invading America: in the words of Clint Eastwood "Go ahead, make my day". Because I and many others like me will resist any foreign invader.

I'm not afraid of Muslim invasion or terrorists.

What I fear is my own government and their deluded, propaganda soaked supporters, who in one breath condemn the government as they should, then in the next, when provided with some juicy propaganda, go apeshit and start cheer leading this obviously criminal org.

Anybody notice what happened at about 12:30 pm EST yesterday, specifically to the price of commodities and stocks, when Benedict Bernanke announced he'd be printing $40 Billion per month?

I guess all the blood lust and foreign enemies/distractions is doing what it is intended to do, and that is distracting Americans form the real enemy.

Just for accuracy, the 2 Marines referred to in the OP are, I believe, DoSS Contractors who are ex-SEALs...
Poster on another board suggested they were part of a QRF sent to the consulate (with the Amb??).
The reports are that they were working on returning fire and evac'ing people to the annex. When they went back for the Amb they lost contact with him in the smoke...

And the pics I've seen of the Amb are consistent with a hasty evac from fire...

NONE of the time lines I have seen leave enough time for "tortured and sodomized for hours" to have happened. PLUS all of the pics of the Amb I have seen are consistent with smoke inhalation as a COD, and not a lot of other trauma...I haven't seen pics suggestive of torture.

Nw, be that as it may, there needs to be an energetic response from TOTUS.
