For those BOL owners out there ....

Actually this happened in Norway but there are a lot of stories out where animals (four and two legged) get into structures left unattended for lengths of time. Just a thought. And man, think of it, a drunk mother bear. :shkr:

Four bears break into cabin; drink 100 beers

A mother bear and her three cubs broke into a Norwegian cabin this week, reportedly drinking more than 100 beers, eating all the food and even knocking over a wall.

"They had a hell of a party in there," owner Even Borthen Nilsen told The Local. "The entire cabin was destroyed."

Nilsen says paw prints on the cabin windows and bear excrement outside the dwelling leave little doubt they were responsible. And besides, your average criminals don't typically break down a wall when the front door will work just fine.

His mother and grandmother were first on the scene, finding the entire cabin ransacked, including a set of destroyed appliances.

"The beds and all kitchen appliances, stove, oven and cupboards and shelves were all smashed to pieces," he said.

ABC News adds that along with the 100 beers, the family of bears also reportedly ate all of the food inside the cabin, which included chocolate spread, honey (of course) and marshmallows. You know, just the bear essentials.

And perhaps worst of all, Nilsen is worried that the family of bears might return for a follow-up engagement.

"The mother has taken her young there, thus there is no guarantee that it won't happen to other cabins, or to our hut again," he said.

There have been a number of recent, unexpected bear appearances. Earlier this week, a black bear walked into the lobby of a New Mexico resort. The incident was captured on the resort's surveillance camera but the bear had backed out the same door before authorities arrived on the scene.

And back in April, a family of bears walked onto a Pennsylvania news weather set, rummaging around freely while the meteorologist hid away in a side room, continuing the broadcast.

When I was the cook for an outfitter a while back, one of the cabins was wayyyy off the beaten path in NM. The year before a bear or two got into the cabin and ate the couches, the foam mattresses on all the beds, ripped off the back door to get in, or out, and proceeded to have even more fun than that. It was a real mess. No food left in the cabin as we clean it all out before we leave and take it all with us, but the smells must have still been in there for them to do what they did. Fortunately, nothing happened the year I was there, 'cept going out at 2 am in pitch black to start the generator every morning was not my idea of a good time...lol.

It can happen anywhere at any time, so if you've got your bol loaded, and there are bears around, praise the Lord for them not getting in or get ready to clean up a very big mess. They are getting very hungry before hibernating and they'll eat anything and go through just about anything to get it.

I had my bear stories last year. The one I treasure, is noticing the dog barking and turning around in my computer chair to see a big cinnamon colored black bear's face pressed against the picture window two feet behind me.
