HONORING THE VICTIMS OF THE TRAGEDY IN AURORA, COLORADO

BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION
As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on July 20, 2012, in Aurora, Colorado, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, July 25, 2012. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twentieth day of July, in the year of our Lord two thousand twelve, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-seventh.

Just as point of reference. The President as evidenced above can ONLY order the American flag to half-staff at Gov & Military facilities. Too many people believe he can ORDER it for everyone. (Not that it wouldn't be appropriate to not do so.)

Rightomundo. Abuse of tradition is a big part of destroying our respectful culture and is being done because they have 40 years of 12 year cycles dumbing down children in public indoctrination camps-herds who have no idea what is lawful or correct and what is not.

I didn't see this thread the other day, but today I notice some huge flags at half mast. I told my co-workers riding with me, "what have I missed"? I mean who died? A little searching and I find a news story and this thread. What ever. I'm sorry for the people who died, but people die every day.

He ordered it for both. I did not comply. It was not out of disrespect for the victims, but out of disrespect for the One that will use these victims for political gain. I did lower my flag to half staff after the Ft Hood shooting, out of respect for the military loses (paying no attention to our 'official' orders)....
eta: I have been giving serious consideration to flying my flag in 'distress' mode. Guess November will make up my mind for sure....
