Please keep going with this. Sounds very interesting. How much change will this old man have and how long will he live now because of the shots? Thanks for posting this.

#1} Writing for the Internet has been bad for the overall quality of my writing.

When the Muse is with me--generally about four days per week, when I'm "With it"; I can write 2000-3000 words per day--in about a Six-Hour stint {Hiss-poor typist--but I type as fast as I can Plot.....}

But I'm generally not quite finished by the end of my session.....

And I start rushing, because I want to post it, and see everyone's comments.

So my stuff seldom gets proof-read, or rewritten--and about-15-20% of it is always rushed.

Going to try to change that this time around--but you'll have to wait longer for installments.

#2} To write convincingly, I have to pretty much put myself in the place of my Characters.

Currently:

I'm 55 years old--and in Hiss-Poor Health.

My interest in either Sex, or long-term entanglements is about as close to zero as it can get.

I have become resigned to the fact that I may not live to my appointed Three-Score-and-Ten; and that I won't survive very long after TEOTWAWKI.

Lets face it, stories with no Love Interest, about someone folding his hands and Resignedly Expiring lack essential Conflict.

I saw some of the stuff about "Super Mice" online--a part of that is true.....

Though I extrapolate freely.....

One of the few ways to imagine myself as a PAW Hero.

#3} My sister recently had some serious surgery {Epidural Abscess}. She's had to spend six weeks here at home, with an IV full of Antibiotics stuck in her arm 24/7.

I thank Jesus that she came through okay, but until she goes back to work next week, I won't have many guaranteed hours at the keyboard.....

{Its her Computer...}

And right now, both our Routines are in Tatters.

Thanks for the Interest and Kind words.

debralee--The mice live about 60% longer.

80 years X 160%= 128 Years.....

But they really don't know what it will do to humans.....

And the character--haven't even decided on his name yet--Is very different from the "Airborne Super-Soldier" Subjects.

He is near the end of his lifespan when he connects. He uses much larger doses.

{Retro-Viruses will either change the targeted genes--or not; but having many extra Nanites [tiny robots programed to expedite changes, and clear out debris] might very well change the process}

The Character is a very different body type from the 6' 180 Pound "Super-Soldiers". In his prime, he weighed 360 Pounds, and had the type physique that you see on "The World's Strongest Man" contestants. He was already very strong--and exceptionally big-boned.....

And so conceivably--he might live much longer.

I might have him hang around for generations--getting ever more Cynical and Misanthropic--But occasionally being imposed upon to do something for "His Family".....

Who aren't, after all, any Blood Kin.

Can he Sire Children?

Maybe. He doesn't know for sure; has little Sex Drive--and its an open question in his mind, and in the Reader's.

I'm too old and tired now--but I always believed that if I was ever tested and found Sterile, that it would be time to take up all sorts of Daredevil Sports, and start courting Death.

The Old Man feels the same--but as long as he isn't Sure.....

Also, the older he gets--the less inclined he is, to put up with any Spritz from Anyone. He's lived well past his time, and isn't going to compromise one Hair's Worth for the opportunity to go on Breathing awhile longer.

Uh, Duh!

Yeah.... please keep it going... I've a feeling that this one will flow out in [very] interesting directions... ;)

(Yeah, in case you haven't guessed - I love it!)

Very good start, just one little thing.... 50 cc shot into one buttock??? Max that is injected into the muscle (even a large one) is 3 cc. 50 would be painful and possibly compromise blood supply to the muscle or be like a pseudo-compartment syndrome (not good). sorry just the nurse in me, I guess.

We used to have some 30 CC Syringes that a cousin on Dialysis gave us.

They had a long tube--say a foot long--and there was a needle about an inch and a half long, and about the same diameter as a Coat Hanger Wire.

Don't know what he was supposed to use it for. We were breeding Dogs back then. We'd snip the needle off, and use the Syringe and tube for artificial insemination.

I once gave one to a Girlfriend who mainlined Heroin.

She took it as a joke--until she was out of a Rig one day.

{Of course, the Syringe had nowhere near 30 CCs of Liquid in it...}

You should have seen the Blood spurt when she pulled it out of her arm!:shkr:

Didn't know about the Pseudo-Compartment Syndrome.

Thought that I'd read of 50 CC Doses of Streptomycin.

Assume that he broke the 50 CCs up into smaller doses.

My Gout has been acting up.

Had it in one foot, or the other before.

This time it was in my left foot AND my left hand.....

O wondrous Joy!

My foot hurt so bad, that I was using a Urinal to avoid walking to the Business Suite.

With one hand near worthless, I missed a couple times, and my Sister--Just recovering from an Epidural Abcess--(Anti-Biotic IV in Arm 24/7 for Six Weeks) had to mop it up.

My Sister: :shkr::sht::shkr:

{And who can Blame Her?}

Foot got better first. I would walk, carrying my left hand in my right, because the jolts from Walking were Very Painful.

At any rate: The hand is clearing up. I have at least two new chapters plotted out--but won't really feel up to "Marathon Keyboarding" until Monday, or so.....

Having the comments in a different thread, although helpful for the flow of the story, made me forget to come over here and Thank you.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it. :D
