OT/MISC Do You Talk About Timebomb in your house...?

DH & I quite often talk at night about what was posted here. We have ever since..., well the board has been here.

I use people's screen names when I say who posted what, etc.

Now, for some reason I usually think everyone is female when you can't tell by their s/n - like "Snowmiser" for instance, or "SpiritBear" :)

DH always thinks that the same people I think are female are male :screw: & grin!

So, is it a truism that Men think most other posters are male and Women think the same posters are female???

(It reminds me of when Neo first meets Trinity and says: You're the one who hacked the IRS database? I thought you were a guy.

And Trinity says: Most guys do...)

:D

Just wondering if others think the same way - or is it just us? :hmm:

Mrs. Hand thinks we're all crazy. :eye:

Mr. Hand is powerless to do or say anything that will serve to disabuse Mrs. Hand of that notion.

I usually don't make assumptions since I have been wrong so often.

A lot of people don't realize the "d" in mine is for David

When I relate 'tin foil' news to DD she responds with 'don't tell me, Timebomb again?'.

Mary

Now see: dstraito - how could one possibly know the "d" stood for David - and does that necessarily mean you're male? :spns:

Mr. Hand - lol, well Mrs. Hand is probably right - I think Mr. Mary ( ) thinks the same sometimes (isn't it nice that I said "sometimes"? ;) )

MtnGal - Now see, you must be Female, although you could be trying to fool us all, hmm..., :D

Well, if she doesn't disagree with any of it, and if she thinks we're nutz, then that means she's..... :D

And I talk about TB at home, but Hermione and Odin don't seem to care about world events. Though they DO care about supper....

I got totally flopped on by Hermione again this morning (you can't sleep with 115 lbs of dog across your chest!), received my wake-up face-nibbles, and everything snapped back into perspective... ;)

See, there's Male or Female: Barb - does it mean Barbwire? or Barbara? You really can't assume anything with that s/n ;)

Which of course leads to Marthanoir - sounds French, how do you pronounce that? Or did you just make it up? Or are you really your "crazy" wife posing as you online? :hmm:

And Dennis, what if you just mis-spelled your name when you signed up? and your name is *really* 'Dennise' - huh? we really don't know now do we :D

I thought YOU were female because of the "Martha" at the front of your name!

Okay, now: "aintitfunny" is a good one - Male? Female? You can't even guess with that one! ;)

Do You Talk About Timebomb in your house...
Stable - no. Don't talk.

I have shown Stableboy some of the posts - he seems attracted to the woo-woo mostly - but more because he finds humor I think.

Owner I NEVER communicate to - although I have surreptitiously arranged to have something print out on his printer - this always without claiming attribution. And (fortunately) without discussion either way. I think I prefer not to know if the arrow hit the mark on these.

So, is it a truism that Men think most other posters are male and Women think the same posters are female???
I don't ever think other posters are equine, although I certainly follow any gender suggestions that the name or post brings forth. Sometimes, like with Quark, it's hard to even assume humanity. His another case of "the post is more important than the deliverer."

He (Quark) must have one heck of a wireless modem.

Well, when Quark posts and you try to read them, they move from sight and change - so you can never really read what Quark says - you can only *think* you know what read, because you can't really read it.

There, that make sense, right? :eye:

Glad to know there are horses here - I thought so but wasn't sure..., huh? lol

First thing DH asks when he comes home for lunch and again at the end of the day is "What's happening on TimeBomb?" We talk about it a lot!

Whenever I quote something I read on here my wife just say "Is that what your internet friends say?" So it looks like all you guys and gals are my "Internet friends"! :D

I cannot count how many times my wife has asked, "What does the board think of ....."

I am fortunate to have a WTGI spouse.

DW and I talk at times about TB. I am terrible coming up with names or passwords, so I stole mine from my son when he was 14. I have no imagination.

Mary

My Drawing of Monet
I didn't know Zahowey was a name..., it's pretty good, no Male, no Female that I can see (maybe I don't look hard enough :shr: :) )

Sometimes you can tell by the avatar, but not usually...

Geoffs, I was kind of sure that was Male, but not entirely..., DH is the same as your wife, but DH doesn't say 'your internet friends' (which sounds like Mrs. Brady, lol), instead he says: So what's up on the boards and when he wants to tease me he says: What's up with your Peeps? ( :hmm: ) I think he only says that because I laugh every time. And he printed this out: :screw: and put it on his visor - he loves that ones! Actually he thinks we should get it blown up and put it on the wall you first see when you walk in the door. He thinks if your not :screw: then don't bother coming in..., sigh...ain't love grand? :spns:

Palmetto: I guess we're both lucky with our D(w/h's) huh? Dang Straight..., Oh Yeah!!!

GQueen (odd way to shorten it, I know, no offense :rs: ;) ), we talk about TB a *lot* too - it's fun to tell him all the things going on, plus it's hours+ of *really* good conversation...!!

I tried, but the goldfish is not impressed by how many rolls of TP I have stashed away - and when I ask him who he thinks the next president will be, he just blows bubbles.

We talk about some opinions posted here when he is home.... It is a good way to check his response to things esp since it is against the rules for me to ask him questions..:lkick:

Okay, so we know for a fact that Blueberry's fish is Male. Good! ;)

Diamonds, I most definitely thought you were male..., oops sorry 'bout that, hey I didn't even notice you were an administrator. How's the pay? :scn:

We don't talk about it much because DH is definitely a DGI..........however DS1 is getting on board as a prepper. DS2 is a borderline prepper....there is hope for him yet. I just keep plugging away, one day at a time. lol

I don't talk about TB2K specifically or use folks' names ... I guess grayness and "secretiveness" can become a habit like anything else. I usually just say I "read it online" or "one of the forums I know about" or something along those lines. Hubby knows what I mean and doesn't need me to be more specific because he knows I wouldn't bring it up unless I thought it was important enough to put time into it.

As far as posters themselves ... Unless someone's screen name is obviously female I assume maleness until informed otherwise. Don't try and let it be a big deal either way.

Secret Service crawling up our asses! Now you know why I do so much shopping!"

First thing DH asks when he comes home for lunch and again at the end of the day is "What's happening on TimeBomb?" We talk about it a lot!

HAHA, fee-on-say says the same thing! He's addicted now, an info junkie, and he gets his fix here. See, that's the thing about the truth, once you get a tiny taste, you want more and more. Yeah, he's hooked. :D

I am constantly giving people TB's web address, usually with the teaser of "news you won't get anywhere else, breaking news before it hits the media waves, sometimes months in advance", and some hints that a lot of highly placed and knowledgeable people post here. See, a good pusher knows how to tempt one to the dark side. :D

Now, as to names, I've been surprised a few times here, I rarely go by name to discern gender unless it's obvious, such as kozanne (where is that girl anyway? Hope I didn't pizz her off about my palin rants, she's too smart for that I think.). I purposely use a gender neutral name to entice people to listen to what I say without prejudice-most people think I'm a man and give me more respect until I tell them, and most are surprised. I've been here so long I didn't care if I let my slip show.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, DW always asks whats new on the forums when I get home. Usually I give her a summary of what I've read that day and if its something important she'll want to read them herself. I'm on a couple different forums, but TB is the only one she asks about regularly.

As for the male/female thing, yeah, I tend to assume that most members are male (not sure why) unless an avatar or username suggests different. I tend not to put pics of myself on the boards simply to reduce bias, though my Rottie is a girl (130lb girl at that, lol).

Belties

Unless it's an obviously female username, I always assume male. But I have been surprised and found out differently! Throws my whole perspective about a person once I discover otherwise! lol

Belties, now there's a name that has no gender attached to it :ussm: I'm just the opposite, if you can't tell the gender, I think you're Female. I have no idea why...

HighStrung, that's a great name, btw! Yeah, those of us who can talk about TB with our better-halfs are lucky... :)

Flipper: I'm trying to get one of my sisters to at least read the front page. She won't. She's not a DGI, she's an: I Don't Want the Details type :p

I don't really tell anyone else about this site because mostly everyone else I know is a definite DGI -

bumblepuff: What a great s/n too! Can't guess, so I'll default to female :D - great scolding by Condi, lol...!

Snaglpuss: "On the Yellow Website..." :lkick: good one - DH likes the actual picture of the Timebomb :shr: & :D

KathyFLA it's not a big deal to me either, I just think it's funny that guys think most posters are Men; and women think the exact opposite -

Ahahahahaha..., I like it...!!!! (A Lot! :D ) - and I always thought you were Female, not because of what you say, just one of those things ;)

Double_A, yeah, I didn't know what name to use, so I just went with something sorta close to the real thing. I wish my last name began with a "Z" - it would have been fun during school years :)
