OT/MISC Ways to "fight the system"

We've talked about some of these years ago, but its time to bring it up again. Our votes don't work, writing your congressman doesn't work, and there are a bunch of idiots around us that elected the president we have. Armed revolt is NOT an option. There are things you can do to not contribute to the system. Its a way of going gray or being John Galt somewhat. Please add to the list as you see fit.

Do not give out your social security number. Get a passport, use that for I.D. Don't use your driver's license as I.D. Use it for driving only.

Stop using your credit and/or debit card. Use cash. If you use credit/debit, you are at risk for identity theft, electonic theft, will have no privacy, plus you will go into debt. If you are in debt, you are a slave to them until you pay them off.

Do not own a large luxury house. Rent or own semi-rural land with a comfortable sized house on it. That way you do not contribute excessive property taxes (food for the beast) to the system. Energy costs and taxes associated with that are lower. Do you need homeowners insurance? I don't want to get into an argument here, but usually when you try to collect, they deny. For example, if your roof shingles are damaged in a hail storm and you file a claim, they will say that your roof is over 15 years old anyhow and you will only get a prorated payment (not enough to pay for a roof job).

Do you live in a neighborhood with a Home Owner's Association? If so, get out. Go rural.

Do you really need health insurance? If you go to the emergency room, they have to treat you whether you have insurance or not. I have health insurance, on the two occasions where I had large bills and really needed it, my health insurance provider denied the claim. MF, I am still PO'd about that.

Can you use candles rather than lights? Can you grill outside rather than use the stove? If so, do so.

Get rid of cable or satellite tv and the propaganda, commercials, and taxes associated with that. Get an antenna for your digital tv. When Television was switched from analog to digital, they let everyone think that they needed to get cable or satellite to continue watching tv. Wrong, as long as you have a digital tv or coverter box, you can continue using an over the air antenna. The bigger the better. The internet has its own issues, but it is important now days for the spread of information. With the internet, you can get Netflix and Hulu.com and others and won't need cable. If you need to watch that NFL game, go to a buddies house.

Do you need your own internet? If your neighbor has wireless internet, pay him $20/month for access to his internet connection. Works for me.

Going to the movie theater is a waste of money. Going to luxury restaurants is a waste of money.

Get rid of your luxury vehicle and get a beater that get's good gas mileage. You will pay less in ad volerem taxes, insurance, and fuel taxes. Get a Honda or Toyota - great gas mileage and reliable. Yea, I know they are not made in America, but not union made either (AFAIK). Don't purchase full coverage, get the minimum liability coverage (poor people don't get sued).
Get a motorcycle. Great on gas mileage, great in a traffic jam. Do you need to drive everywhere? Can you catch a ride with a friend, walk, or ride a bike? (Don't take mass transit).
Obey traffic laws. Go the speed limit. I know, you don't like to go slow, but if you get a speeding ticket, it feeds the beast.

Avoid roads that have tolls.

Do you need a land line and a cell phone? If you have both, you are paying taxes and fees that are used for stupid stuff like free Obama-phones for welfare queens and pimp daddies.

Don't send your kid to public school. Homeschool if you can't afford private school. In public school, your kid will be indoctrinated and will learn to cuss, learn about sex, disrespect their parents, and how to get beat up at an early age. Plus, if you send your kid to public school, the school will get more federal money.

A college degree is not a viable option anymore. You will owe so much in student loans when you graduate that it will take decades to pay them off after you graduate. Go to technical college and learn a trade, or if you go to a liberal arts college, take a couple semesters of math and a couple semesters of English. Thats it, you don't need calculus, you don't need music appreciation, fine arts, philosophy, sociology, psycology, etc.

Supplement your home heat with wood so that you pay less in energy costs and taxes.

Select a home with a septic system and well rather than city or county water and sewage.

There used to be two reasons to keep your money in the bank - safety and interest. Now, interest is near zero, its not as safe as it used to be (your bank could fail next Friday), you don't have privacy, and it is a pain in the neck to start a savings or checking bank account (they think you are a drug dealer or terrorist). If you have a judgment against you or owe taxes to the IRS, they can freeze your accounts or confiscate the money. For bills, keep just enough in the bank to cover them, and keep the rest of the cash at home under your firearm. Pay for bills with money orders. Mexicans do it, African Americans with bad credit and who can't get checking accounts do it.

Do not buy your groceries at a store that requires customer cards. Buy them at a Mom and Pop store with cash. Also, grow your own food. Plant fruit and nut trees now. They take a while to produce.
Can you buy your milk from a local dairy farmer? Can you buy eggs from someone that has chickens? Can you buy meat from a small town butcher shop?

If something malfunctions, can you fix it rather than throw it away and purchase a new one?

Save aluminum cans, save copper and other metals to supplement your income.

Own guns. Get a .22 pistol, a .22 rifle, at least one shotgun, a deer rifle, and another pistol of higher caliber. If you can buy them privately at rummage sales or flea markets, pounce on it.

Don't fly. Drive. If you live in Atlanta and you want to go to Nashville, you get in your car and you are there in 4 hours. If you fly, the flight might only take an hour, but you will spend more than three hours in airports, plus you will have your civil rights violated by TSA workers. (Gas $30, flight $200).

Love your neighbor. Share extra garden produce with them, barter with them, watch their property for them if they are out of town, feed their dog. Share tools. Do both of you need a riding lawnmower? A snow blower? Don't go halfsies on them, just have an agreement, I'll get a snow blower, you get a riding lawnmower, I'll mow your lawn, you snowblow my sidewalk and driveway.

Work for yourself. Start your own business if you can.

Shop at thrift stores and rummage sales.

Take your kids target shooting and hunting. If you don't have kids, take your nieces and nephews, and grandchildren. Seriously, the reason there are so many anti-gun nuts is because someone didn't take them shooting when they were younger. Their only experience with guns is what they see on the evening news and in the movies.

Brew your own beer. Make your own wine. Grow your own tobacco.

Do research. How do illegal Mexicans get by here in the U.S.? How do the Amish and Mennonites get by in the U.S.?

More to come.

Do not buy your groceries at a store that requires customer cards. Buy them at a Mom and Pop store with cash.

I use a customer card with cash purchases, but it has no name, address or anything attached. At at least a couple chains nowadays they give you a card and you can use it immediately while filling it out "later". (Funny how I never got around to it, LOL) I have another that has a junk name and address that I use for other things. My BIL filled one out with a fake name and " 9876 Whatever Street Anytown US 51234" as his address. Of course it's probably tied to his real name through debit card use, but he gets no junk mail about it.

I was thinking of this "fight the system" meme yesterday, and trying to remember a short story I'd read long ago. The main character throws a rock through the window of local politician's office. Glass replaced helps glass shop. He does it again. Cops investigate glass shop. Does it in another town. Then it spreads across the country with acts of vandalism and civil disobedience while he does nothing more.

While not being an advocate of violence or vandalism the idea was that one small act could send untold ripples and have untold effects.

Think outside the box folks. We need lots of ripples turning into a tsunami of change.

I can only advocate legal activities. All of the things in my list are legal AFAIK.

If you do have to shop at a grocery store that has customer cards, when they ask for the card, ask the person in line behind you if they can scan hers. I haven't been turned down yet. Usually they are very happy to do it.

"Armed revolt is NOT an option"

Then lay down...that's what they want. You point out some good advice but the above statement is unrealistic at best, eventually tyranny will be at your front door. At that point you have to make a decision as to your future.

Everybody knows its gonna come to that. Why get in 'trouble' before the 'trouble' starts? I intend on being a traitor bitch at their every move. If I bring just ONE down then I'll die happeh.

I don't want anyone to do anything that would get them in any legal trouble, and specifically stated I don't advocate vandalism or violence.

There's things like listed above. The small acts of defiance. Those are good.

Then of course there are the things we are told that we shouldn't EVER EVER EVER do, the things that gum up the works. And we should NEVER do the things that throw off the balance of the machine, that while it may not show up now, anyone who works with machines knows that can still be a problem later.

But we do need to think of new ideas, something different, a novel twist on how we handle the days and things to come. Work within, without and roundabout. Something totally out of the blue, like Navajo code-talkers were in WWII. We need to zig when we're supposed to zag, turn our shirts inside out and act as though it's normal, take a different route to work.

There's an old saying by Einstein, "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." We need to get sane. We need to do something different or we won't get anything different than we already have.

Think of going Galt. Now consider that idea has been done. What's the new idea?? Gandhi did sitdown protests. What else can be done? Look for the loopholes.

Somewhere out there are the ideas we need. The ideas that can build a future. While it's entirely possible that we are seeing the fulfillment of prophecy, in which case the story is already written, what if we aren't? After all, none knows the hour. It could be a long wait, and we'd better stay busy while waiting.

Given we are likely on the path to national healthcare (and no, Romney nor any status quo establishment Republican will change things...they are wanting to get their hands on that 1/5th of the economy as much as any pro-big government politician) there are things folks can do now to possibly make their life much, much easier in the next decade or sooner.

For starters, I think national healthcare will be a step back in terms of quality of care. Taxes will go up substantially to pay for this system. Pay cuts will need to be made in terms of hospital administration, research scientists, doctors, and nurses. Not sure if quality people will stay in those positions (*), would depend on many factors. If you already pay $500ish/month for healthcare, you won't see much difference in your paycheck, as that $500 will just go to Uncle Sam. Those government employees (most, not all) will see a huge increase in their healthcare costs.

So the first thing is to get healthy now. Try to get to a point where you exercise around 20 mins. a day. Do some stretching, weight lifting, and running/rowing/hiking. Mix and match, but get healthy. Big business can't tell a 75 year old they won't pay $100K for chemo for stage four or whatever lung cancer. First they would be called "heartless" and "cruel." However, if government does this, liberals claim it is "for the greater good of all." They know end-of-life care is responsible for a huge % of healthcare costs. So get in shape, get healthy, otherwise you may end up getting a thumbs down from the death panels...I mean local panel of those who decide if you get treatment since you are 200 pounds overweight.

Next is to plan financially right now. Those who can save and save a lot, and are healthy, have a great chance to quit their job that pays well, but they wish they didn't work, and instead take a dream job that may have never offered benefits, or benefits were just too costly. For example, say you live a frugal life for the most part. You spend a few grand on the home a year, a few grand on vacations, buy reasonably priced used vehicles, etc.. If you can pack away a couple hundred grand, or even a hundred grand, plus you have a paid off home, you could quit your job if you wanted, and likely take a lower paying job that is doing what you love, but currently pays no benefits. Those jobs pay not pay as much, or pay may very. I would love to work for a gun store or outdoors supplier, and if one has enough cash..they would be able to possibly open their own business, not having to worry about healthcare costs.

So right now, save your money. Another thing is that you could "fight the system" by working side jobs for cash money. Convert the cash money to gold and silver, hide it however you wish (bury it, etc.). This will help reduce the taxes given we will likely see massive tax hikes coming down the road. Just make sure to give a picture of living within your means. Not advocating breaking the law or anything, and if the IRS discovers you hiding untaxed assets, one could end up in jail, but likely will see massive penalties levied against them.

My take on this is a bit different. Spend it all but spend it wisely. Spending has a ripple effect in the community. The unemployed or under employed are part of what is fueling this. Keep your money as local as possible so your neighbors aren't part of the crowd that is begging the gov for help because that help always comes with strings attached.

For small business owners with employees or a FEIN #.... Shut down your business and get rid of the FEIN#, Then start new business with no employees. You do not need a FEIN# if you have no employees. When you go to start a new business bank account the banksters will incorrectly say you need a FEIN, ignore them and ask to see the law that says you need a FEIN when you have no employees, then open new business account. Net work with other owner operators, etc...

There is a large city to the west of me and small town (big enough to have a Walmart) to the east of me. Rather than do my shopping in the large city, we go to the small town to shop as much as possible. We avoid the traffic jams and crowds at the stores, and it helps support the economy of the small town rather than the large city. I still spend a certain amount of money for the things I need, it just goes one place instead of another.

Many of us already do many of these suggestions because we can't afford not to.

My two cents: stop talking about what you're going to do, etc. It saps energy and stirs up trouble.

When I told a cashier that I did not have a customer card (and I don't), she pulled one out from under her cash register and swiped it.

Excellent point, which explains why it was on the table in the first place.

If you're living a frugal life you won't be taking vacations, think of all the preps that could buy! I know, different lifestyles and income brackets. ;)

Life is short, in fact it may be very short. Do it.

Gold and silver will only be good for an extremely brief time, they plan on implementing the Mark (or cashless system if you don't hold to Bible prophecy) as soon as they can get it done, fiat currency being deemed worthless would be an excellent way to force people to take that mark, especially if they put $10k, $20k or even $100k into the account of each person who takes it, as a "goodwill gesture" and to get the economy up and running again so they can continue to use your labor to fill their coffers. Your comment about appearing to live within your means is a good one, one might even consider, in these days of joblessness, to drop their appearance of having anything of value, most thugs will save you for last, and when they come, you'll be ready for what's left of them.
After all, none knows the hour. It could be a long wait, and we'd better stay busy while waiting.
Another excellent point. Jesus is coming, look busy. :D

Lassiesma, you are absolutely right, help always comes with strings attached. (Worth saying twice)

Being poor helps one prioritize. I'd say the most important thing I did was grow a garden. You can do it in containers if your codes don't allow it (in AMERICA, land of the free, we can't turn our yard into a garden? I bet they wouldn't bitch if it was a dirt and rock wasteland, so one must conclude it is about self sufficiency that they have their beef). Where I'm at they don't care if your yard is a garden; I actually cut out of a magazine a story of a woman's front yard, she had mixed edibles in with her flowering and ornamental greenery and no one would ever know. Hidden in plain sight. And it was beautiful. Most hordes wouldn't know these things were edible. Our garden is very small but we planted high yield items such as tomatoes, potatoes and squash. You save a tremendous amount in food bills and you know it's good for you. Also you can put aside some for trading or unexpected lodgers, gardens are usually extremely high yield.

If you have been putting off that doctor or dentist thing, git er dun, costs will rise quickly and you may not have the means to pay later. Do try to get as healthy as possible. Incorporate as much raw food into your diet as you can handle, it gives you life.

We have been doing all on your list for years now except the tv part. We don't have tv reception up here even with an antenna, lol.....

As to the violence part, that may happen sooner than most would like if things continue down this slope life is on.

So, to add to your list, be ready for the above part..

Don't you think the more people that DO do this, the business's and jobs that will be in jeapardy will be the ones that don't produce anything of value or are in realistic terms, not needed?

in light of obam care, compile a large herbal and holistic library. instead of spending hours of watching TV every night, read through and learn from those books.

then grow all the herbs u will need. start dehydrating those herbs and learn to make your own salves and tisanes. a good book I recently acquired is 20,000 secrets of tea by Victgoria Zak.
another is DMSO Natures Healer by Dr. Morton Walker.

put together an herbal first aid kit. then LEARN how to use it. wean yourself off pain meds and beta blockers and high blood pressure meds as much as you can. there are good herbal alternatives and wean yourself now while you can still be monitored by a physician.

Good list.

I just wanna say something about the CCs. I have a couple I use and pay the balance off every month. There are many things I can only get online, not locally.

2 points -

#1 - I save a lot of money when buying online. Why should I pay $20 locally when I can buy it online for $15? Not to mention the time and takes to go buy said item. Also, factor in the gas used up in going to purchase this item and returning home. It all adds up.

#2 - I pay no sales tax (most of the time) on items purchased online. Don't feed the beast, right?

That reminds me of some things I do.

You don't need a credit card to buy online from Amazon.com and you can get anything from Amazon.

Whenever you've saved up enough change take it to the Coinstar machine at the local supermarket. Instead of converting it to cash, get an Amazon gift card receipt. Take the receipt, redeem the number on it at Amazon using some made up name and you can have it shipped anywhere in the U.S.
