BRKG Holder asking White House to invoke Executive Privilege on Fast & Furious docs - GRANTED!!

. . . .
Did he have Valerie's blessing on this, or did he overstep his bounds? If he overstepped, the WH is in major damage control mode at the moment (and O is probably back to his drone porn)....

Here's a look at how many times each president since Ronald Reagan have asserted executive privilege:

President Barack Obama: 1
President George W. Bush: 6
President Bill Clinton: 14
President George H.W. Bush: 1
President Ronald Reagan: 3

Yes, Obama has only used it once, so far. But he used it completely incorrectly unless he's saying he was somehow involved in it. It's been about a year of Congress asking for documents, Justice dragging their feet and then sending out a press release that they are cooperating fully. Issa gave Holder one last chance: Produce the documents BEFORE the 5pm meeting yesterday and we can put a hold on the contempt vote. Holder didn't produce the documents but offered the stupendously wonderful concession that he would tell Issa about some of the documents at the next meeting if he'd meet with him again. Talk about stonewalling! It gets fishier and fishier the longer he delays.

Okay, it's boring me. Take the vote instead of all this bluster. This is just political theater now and the Republicans are risking turning this to Obama's advantage.

You can bet your sweat bippi the the WH knew about F&F, and my hunch says it goes straight to the top.

Holder is Soetoro's firewall. If he goes Soetoro will be consumed by the flames.

He won't go.

He can't or the whole house of cards falls.

Wow, it looks like it is starting to blow up in their faces. Bad news for us ahead, I'm afraid. They won't go quietly into the night.

Good, but I read elsewhere this motion is mostly symbolic.

Without those papers, they cannot proceed with the CRIMINAL investigation, right?

It probably is symbolic. All the Repubs voted yes, all the Dems voted No. Same thing will happen in the full house if it goes that far. If he is voted in contempt it goes to a grand jury. How long is it going to take to seat a grand jury, hear testimony and decide criminal charges? Even if found guilty he faces a fine of a whole $1000 and up to a year in jail. By this time the election will be over. If Romney wins he gets replaced anyway. If Obama wins he probably gets replaced or he resigns to spend time with family.

Things are going to get TOO hot for Obama with this.

If there was ever a time for him to set in motion a false flag, this is it.

You read my mind. This shite will bog the news down for months or more. Every news station will have their long winded "experts" which usually say nothing because they are programmed as well.

There will be no room for important news. Only garbage.

AG Eric Holder releases statement following committee vote

Published June 20, 2012

| FoxNews.com

Attorney General Eric Holder released the following statement Wednesday following the house committee's vote to hold him in contempt of Congress over withholding 'Fast and Furious' documents:

“In recent months, the Justice Department has made unprecedented accommodations to respond to information requests by Chairman Issa about misguided law enforcement tactics that began in the previous administration and allowed illegal guns to be taken into Mexico. Department professionals have spent countless hours compiling and providing thousands of documents -- nearly 8,000 -- to Chairman Issa and his committee. My staff has had numerous meetings with congressional staff to try and accommodate these requests and yesterday, I met with Chairman Issa to offer additional internal Department documents and information that would satisfy what he identified as the Committee’s single outstanding question.

Unfortunately, Chairman Issa has rejected all of these efforts to reach a reasonable accommodation. Instead, he has chosen to use his authority to take an extraordinary, unprecedented and entirely unnecessary action, intended to provoke an avoidable conflict between Congress and the Executive Branch. This divisive action does not help us fix the problems that led to this operation or previous ones and it does nothing to make any of our law enforcement agents safer. It's an election-year tactic intended to distract attention -- and, as a result -- has deflected critical resources from fulfilling what remains my top priority at the Department of Justice: Protecting the American people.

Simply put, any claims that the Justice Department has been unresponsive to requests for information are untrue. From the beginning, Chairman Issa and certain members of the Committee have made unsubstantiated allegations first, then scrambled for facts to try to justify them later. That might make for good political theater, but it does little to uncover the truth or address the problems associated with this operation and prior ones dating back to the previous Administration.

I have spent most of my career in law enforcement and worked closely with brave agents who put their lives on the line every day. I know the sacrifices they make, so as soon as allegations of gunwalking came to my attention – and well before Chairman Issa expressed any interest in this issue -- I ordered the practice stopped. I made necessary personnel changes in the Department's leadership and instituted policy changes to ensure better oversight of significant investigations. And, I directed the Department's Inspector General to open a comprehensive investigation. That investigation is ongoing, and the American people and Congress can count on it to produce a tough, independent review of the facts.

When Chairman Issa later began his own investigation, I made it clear that the Department would cooperate with all appropriate oversight requests, while still adhering to our legal obligations to protect information involving ongoing law enforcement investigations, legally-protected grand jury material and other sensitive information whose disclosure would endanger the American people or our agents investigating open cases.

The American people deserve better. That is why, I will remain focused on, and committed to, the Justice Department’s mission to protect the rights, safety, and best interests of my fellow citizens and to stand by my brave colleagues in law enforcement."

Zero's constituents are either the very stupid, or libtards who have drunk the Koolaid (essentially the same thing). He is counting on the lapdog media framing this as two equal branches of govt duking it out over issues of national security. Of course the truth of his profound criminality and disdain for the rule of law is out there in the alternative media, but generally only white, gun-clinger types read that, and he has already written them off. The kept media has always had his back up till now, and he is gambling that they will continue to do so, even as he rachets up the level of brazen lawlessness.
It's all about the election. This is a ploy to make this go away until after then, IMO. If it backfires, and as fall approaches it looks like Team Commie is going down, well then it's time for Plan B. False Flag/Reichstag fire event. Mass chaos. 'Postponed' (i.e. cancelled) elections.

All I can say is: historically the Executive appointed Attorney
General has always acted as a "firewall" to the Chief Executive
and visa versa; sometimes it works, sometimes it does NOT.
"Film at 11", stay tuned; Obama's Watergate moment? Maybe
or maybe not.

I haven't read anyone's comments yet, but I was listening to talk radio show host Dana , and she pretty much said that Obama not only "showed his hand" regarding "Fast and Furious", but "he showed the whole damn deck"... And that the last president to try this was Richard Nixon... (and we all know how that turned out) ..
She said that an "Executive Privelege order cannot be issued by a president, unless he is a major component involved in whatever it is he is issuing the Executive Privelege for ..

VERY TELLING!!!!!
This whole mess stinks to high Heaven ...

Which indicates that this was planned in advance. You don't really think Holder ran panting to the White House for help and our Fearless Leader made a snap decision to do this? Delay, delay, delay until the election and then... what?

Yes, I think you nailed it too. But Executive Privilege automatically puts this into election discussion - and bumps aside the more important aspects. Like positions on issues, like economy performance to date, like promises kept/not kept. Even the ahem, socialist/communist thing about Obama which is a thought that most voters had no inkling before the last election. They all know now - and the thought scares them - even Democrats. Even certain left wing media now straying.

And they get away with it because our Kongres is to lame and/or too scared to fix it. Then there are the common citizens that "choose" to ignore it..

You're kind. Endowed by my creator - lucky horse.

I have no way to predict the future. Bams is a loose cannon right about now. He's liable to do ANYTHING.

The trouble is, any "normal" incident will be cleaned up and put away before the election really gets underway. Bams needs something bigger. Think the Iran Hostage Crisis of the Carter Administration which hung on until the two days after the election: it was designed to embarrass Carter and lose the election for him. USS Pueblo during the Lyndon Johnson administration is another of this class. Obama seems to have several avenues at his disposal to create diversion. You know I say Obama, it could well be a mover and shaker above him. Probably is.

BUT it HAS to be an incident to fit his character. Bams wants desperately to be a MacArthur. And the electorate who seek him out WANT him to be MacArthur. Bam's gotta be in charge but - he just don't have the moxie - or the ability. A natural born leader he is not. The electorate will not get their Black MacArthur. And this inability to come across credibly as leader even in a venue/incident made for him will be his undoing.

More likely Bams will dawdle along jumping from self sabotage to self sabotage until the election. Each of these shots to his political foot will be seen and heard - but not felt much by the electorate. And then come the election it will be the takers versus the producers. Issues will really NOT be the issue. Rather voting the wallet. It will fall into the normal two ring circus.

This outcome I can't predict either. Too many humans on the dole now.

Just a couple of thoughts. They don't come often enough!

Wouldn't this be "O" running cover for Holder and "protecting" him. My guess, it's because Holder has the "dirt" on "O''s birth certificate, releasing of college records, other background info, etc. Wouldn't Holder be the person to press the charges against "O".??

"O" wouldn't want that to happen, so he has to protect his "buddy"....

How is it that Obama can invoke Executive Privilege in this matter when Eric Holder had testified under oath that President Obama had not been briefed or involved in the communications involving "Fast and Furious"? Either he's involved directly or he is not. If he is not, there is no Executive Privilege to invoke. If he is, Holder just proved he committed perjury and they are covering up Obama's direct involvement and responsibility in the deaths of law enforcement agents.
