I just got the email from the company HR dept this afternoon. I was not offered the perm job. I pretty much expected that, as I'm pretty old for their employee demographic. Anyway, at least I know what's NOT going my way.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers on my behalf.

Dennis,

I am sorry to hear this. However, that doesn't mean I will stop praying.

Well, that sure is a disappointment. I take it you will have built up some credits for UE at least for awhile. Prayers for finding another job.

Will you try to stay in TX? Or do you miss the WI winters?

That is a shame Dennis. The way they do these things now days sucks big time.
I will keep you in my prayers that something good comes your way.

I hear Houston is still cooking. I may end up there myself before long. Check out Indeed.com and search by city.

Freedom Isn't Free
Why in the world would they send you an email rather than tell you to your face? That is not cool. So exactly what does this mean. Was this their way of firing you or do you still work there until they say you don't, what? Either way it sucks but to tell you by email instead of face to face is rotten. I think I would ask to talk to the boss and get an explanation.

Dennis,

Austin is an empoyment oasis in the recession, especially for computer-savvy people like you. I'm sure you can find something permanent. Start looking while you still have the current job. Also maybe you can go the self-employment route part-time, consulting or repairing computers. Also retail establishments which sell computers sometimes need employees who know their stuff.

God has something else planned for your life! His plan is perfect!

Took the words right out of my mouth, so to speak. When I look at seeming disappointments in my life, I see that they were really blessings in disguise. I hope that soon you will see a bright, silver lining here, Dennis.

I'm sorry this didn't work out, dennis. But as others have mentioned, nothing happens without a reason. We'll have to keep hoping and praying, and waiting to see what that reason is! Good luck

I'm sorry, Dennis. I still believe God brought you to Texas for a reason so I know something will come up.

Nuts! Feels like a real dash of cold water, doesn't it? The good thing about it is that you still have all your fingers and toes and you can go back at it again. Sometimes a good nights sleep helps put a little perspective in the picture. It must be very comforting to know so many here are pulling for you. We'll just continue on sending the prayers up for you to land on your feet and into a rosy situation very soon.

Very sorry to hear that, but I'm sure that there's something out there and BETTER that will come your way. You're a very smart person and you deserve it.

That's bs; you are the perfect person for the job. notified via email? WHAT a weenie. As noted here, something great may be in the wings. I was tremendously disappointed when I was declined for the traveling Diebold gig after they had wanted me but determined I had 1 too many tickets in a 4 year period. But now, i will get to start into the EPIC food chain...(June 25)

Wow, didn't expect that after all the great work you've been doing. Their loss. You got this job, you'll get another, better, one. Take care.

I'm sorry to hear that, Dennis.

Nowadays, if you are not in the 26 to 40 year old age range, you don't have a chance at a permanent job with bennies.

Nobody wants to pay the company's portion of the health insurance premiums on the aging worker....

The system sucks, IMHO...
