I'm looking to find seed for the dwarf pawpaw (asimina pygmea) to try cultivating here in Oklahoma. From what I have read online, it is somewhat of a weed in Florida? Would anyone be willing to send me some seed to try growing? I can help with postage.

Hmmm, I "think" I know what you are talking about. I've only ever seen true Pawpaw grown as trees but apparently there is a type of Pawpaw that grows as an understory plant (read grows best in dappled shade similar to dogwoods).

Go to http://www.butterflyfunfacts.com/pawpaw-plants.php and they have some info on it.

I've also done some business with these folks over in St. Petersburg and if they don't have it in inventory they could probably direct you to someone that could help. http://shop.tropicalfruit.com/Whats-New_c_65.html

I've got quite a bit of it growing on my place. I noticed some fruit just last week so it may be awhile till its ripe enough for the seed to be viable.

Send me a Pm and we'll see what we can do.

The guy that does 'Eat The Weeds' has a you tube vid about the bush pawpaw in Fl.

I've lived in Florida for over 40 years - didn't know about this type of Paw paw. Hmmmmm - I'll check Kathy's suggested sites.

Thanx to all of you who have responded. I've been into this fruit for a little while, and I don't have the space for a full sized tree. If I can grow the smaller bush here, then it will benefit not just me, but others that I share the fruit with, including my 8 year old daughter. Idum, PM on the way.

Must be some hybrid as I've only seen full sized trees and we have them here but no seeds available until fall and they like damp ground or at lest I've only see them growing near runoff's and rivers, streams and ponds.

This sounds interesting. If someone has some dwarf Paw-Paw seeds available, then I would love to have some seeds or access to some plants.
