Been off line for the weekend so just getting to this thread. Prayers to you Vicki as you work through your issues, and may your heart's burden be lifted as far as your relationship with your dad is concerned. I agree that you may find some closure if you go to the funeral but you only you can know what is best.

I am so sorry Vicki. I understand what you are going thru and I will pray for you. God will give you that extra peace and strength you need. I was so surprised at the peace and calm God gave me when my Dad died. It was surreal. May God bless you and give you that peace that surpasses all understanding!

Wise Owl, you are blessed and it's awesome your Father is still going strong. God Bless him! I wish it was as simple as that but what my Dad did to me, to my kids, to my brothers was not a one time occurrance. It was throughout our lives. It was an ongoing thing that ripped my family apart. My youngest brother wouldn't speak or have anything to do with my dad for over 20 years. It was close to that for my other brother as well. My brothers turned against me for many years because I kept saying he's still our Father and I love him no matter what and I tried and tried and tried. It was me who finally got my brother and Dad to speak once again and then my Dad turned on me again. it went on and on. The last time I finally gave up and that was many years ago now. I have felt peace ever since. I had forgiven him or so I thought until today. That's when the anger surfaced because time was up. He never apologized or well.. it's water over the damn now. It doesn't matter anymore. Now we can all heal. All of us. My kids never spent a day with their Grandfather. They wanted to. He didn't. It's very heartbreaking. It's hard to love someone who doesn't love themself.

Thanks for your prayers, it means alot. :)

I'm sorry for the situation your dad put your family in, and also for your difficulty having to deal during this time as you mourn his passing.

Some people are able to give love more freely than others. For those who are love handicap, it makes me ponder about what harm may have come to them in life that left them so injured. I believe too much trauma can fester into mental illness, and some people are born with it too.

May God bless you for your enduring love and may your father be made whole again and be healed by the Lord's love.

That was beautiful Chair Warmer and you do understand I can tell. Not that the rest don't understand because I'm sure they do but some people just say what they think and you said quite a lot in few words. I don't know if that was exactly the case but I'm sure it's not far off.

I had a beautiful experience today that shows what all of your prayers and God's love has done already. My youngest brother stopped in after work today and replaced a blown bulb in my cars headlight for me. He had to wait till my son got home from work with the car so we sat for about a half hour just talking. Now this brother I havem't spent as much time with because of the distance we had to endure but I've always noticed a sadness about him and today was no exception. That was until my youngest son pulled in the driveway. My brother got up to welcome him and my son jumped out of the car with the biggest smile on his face, open arms and hugged my brother like he was his own Dad. My brother's face lit up like I've never seen before because it was so genuine and so full of love. Amazing. This is the beginning not the end, of that I'm sure.

Thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart and thank you God.

Love you all!
Vicki
