OT/MISC Ever been stalked by a bird?

Goin' where the lonely go
Didn't think nothing of it this morning...darned ol crow sitting not 25 feet away from me just cawin' away looking at me...I told a friend that this meant somebody was gonna die....anyway....fastforward to this evening....yall know how crows are...crows will pull up a chair and put on sunglasses and invite themselves into your potato salad if that is what they have a particular hankerin for at the moment....

But never not ever have I been chased in a park and followed home by a crow like I was this evening and never has a crow swooped down and picked up a tiny piece of cardboard and tried to drop it on my head like this one did this evening....and yeah I usually have big hair (the higher the hair the closer to God is what I always say) but I had on a ballcap....
Now if Heckle and/or Jeckle show back up in the morning they better be BB proof....

Mockingbird near the nest in the tree beside the paddock. Mama is grumpy in the morning.

The cat won't go out until later when things calm down.

Maybe he was expecting a handout & trying to bribe you? We had semi-tame chickadees when I was a kid, & heaven help you if you stepped outside without peanut butter first thing in the morning...

Crows are messengers from the "other realm". They usually come around when there is some lesson you are supposed to learn.

Nothing to worry about except . . . well . . . you aren't paying attention

So far it's only card board he is only dropping card board on yer head.

My recommendation is . . . pay attention

before i have to go all postal on ya.

hahahahaha

I had one side mirror on the VW stalked by a redbird ~ hubby had to put a bag over it everyday at work to keep the bird from attacking the mirror ~ he has finally left ~

I had one land on my head and peck me once, walking in the parking lot of one of the casinos at North Shore. Scared the daylights out of me, having seen the Birds. Personally, all birds terrify me. I'd probably start carrying a stick or umbrella or something.

However, I think Ravens foretell a death. I'm not sure I believe this on crows -

Crow: Keeper of the Sacred Law

Crows are the keepers of the Sacred Law and to have a Crow totem is very powerful. Personal Integrity is your watchword and your guide in Life. If you have a Crow totem, your prime path is to be mindful of your opinions and actions. You must be willing to walk your talk, to speak your truth and to know your life's mission. Crow is an omen of Change. Things that you have been working toward will come to fruition when Crow appears. Crow lives in the void and has no sense of time; therefore, it sees past, present and future simultaneously. Crow merges both light and dark, both inner and outer. It is the totem of the Great Spirit and must be respected as such.

Crows/Ravens are cowards but years ago in Bermuda I was attacked by a seagull while in my sail boat.
I whacked him with my hat as he swooped down on me.

A friend and I were chased for no less than a quarter mile by a rabid horse fly. Would have won $10K on Funniest Video show easily.

Crows are super smart and have long memories. Remember the thread last fall about the crows harassing the police? I think one had shot a crow and they all came like the mafia to leave a strong message. ;)

That crow recognizes you from somewhere, could have been a few years ago.

I've been attacked by three different hawks at different times and places. Crows can be friendly, half tame if they're in the mood. I watched some out front once herding a baby rabbit back toward its home. Really. They were protecting it. I imagined the crows wearing old West lawmen outfits, telling the baby rabbit, go back home boy, this is no place for a tasty morsel like you. The crows were in a wide semi circle, slowly walking the rabbit back home, nodding purposefully, almost whispering, shoo boy.

Do you resemble Euell Gibbons? He used to stalk wild asparagus and may have stalked celery too. Could have been retaliation if you'd been foraging. Euell passed on and may have been reincarnated as a celery for biting mother nature too often. :-)

I was stalked by a celery once. Probably not the same thing though.

I was stalked by a rooster. Mean little booger. Had a broken wrist at the time, and he wouldn't back off. He was warned, but fools reject wisdom. He could outrun me, but the lead caught up with him. That technique works with crows, also --if they are in season.

Thanks, Dennis and Toup. Sorry I went OT on the thread, but when I saw my bomb, it was kind of like a crow dumping on my head!

I found a crow with a broken leg outside one of the clinics that I serviced. It was sitting by my truck and couldn't fly. A cat was sitting about 15 feet away--waiting for supper. I took the bird home and hand fed it, actually force feed it with raw egg and milk until it was strong enough to eat solid foof on it's own. I had the bird in a large cage that I built for about 5 or 6 weeks. When it was healthy enough I turned it loose. It was released several miles from where I found it. Several days later I was at the clinic where I found the bird. There were 3 crows sitting on a power line. When I got out of my truck one of the crows flew down and circled me cawwing. It did this until I entered the building. I have often wondered if it was the one I helped.
