Beef Products Incorporated says for 30 years it has been committed to making a safe and quality product.

BPI representatives blame ABC News for ruining the company's reputation in just two weeks.

"The reason we have asked you to gather here is to advise you of the status of BPI as a result of the media frenzy brought on by ABC Nightly News," said Regina Roth, BPI Co-Owner.

BPI held a news conference Monday to explain its Lean Finely Textured Beef product (LFTB).

"These lies started a little more than two weeks ago, but word of social media has taken over like wild fire. We understand consumers are concerned. If I heard only what they're hearing, and didn't know better, I'd be concerned too," said Roth.

Recently ABC News has done a series of unflattering stories on the topic of LFTB.

They interviewed ex-USDA employee Gerald Zirnstein, who used the term "Pink Slime." They then repeatedly used the term "Pink Slime" throughout their stories.
