PRYR RQST Hermione was run over tonight - UPDATE, post #147, 275, 353, 394, 466 (pics post #412)

HUGE NEWS! As much as we (people) like to think it is, processed 'people' food is NOT good for dogs. Hell, it is not even good for people!!

If she eats, that's a win. I've been feeding her people food since she was a pup, mixed with her kibble. She has always been happy and healthy. (Canned green beans, steamed flavored rice, cooked and drained hamburger and rotisserie chicken. All that with Taste of the Wild Pacific Salmon kibble.)

HUGE NEWS! She just ate half of my Stouffer's turkey dinner. I then supplemented that with a cup of flavored steamed rice and another cup of rotisserie chicken. She ate every bite and licked the tray clean. I think she was crying after, because her eyes were watering after eating. Thank God that she's eating again, even if just a little.

I didn't give her more because she hasn't eaten in so long. I'll give her something yummy for breakfast, and maybe try to feed her later tonight.

Your post brought tears to my eyes. So glad things are getting better.

In a lot of animals (including humans) the salivary response is closely akin to the tears response. And people food is what Dogs are genetically bred to eat - at least the human diet from perhaps 500 years ago. Maybe not so much now with all the sugar, salt and fat. And not so much that as the CONSTANT American diet of it.

Eating is a good thing. Dogs seem to "know" when it's time and will eschew food in preparation. Obvious she's not ready.

And you're wise to pace it out a bit. Although I'm either off my feed or ON it. (bolded and capitalized for emphasis.)

Great news for her! Might not be so good for you.... Turkey has been known to do **legendary** things to the gas emitted from a dogs digestive tract......maybe her eyes were watering in anticipation. Be sure to give us an update on how this aspect goes.

Your latest update is v welcome news, Dennis. It sounds like you can put my ramp idea on the very back burner. Now you can zero in on a containment system.

Glad she's doing better. I skimmed through the posts but didn't read them all, so don't know if someone might have suggested this. I use Kraft Easy Cheese in a can to pill my dog. Covers the pills completely and he loves it. Even giant sized antibiotic capsules go down without a struggle.

Glad to see she's doing so much better and is eating. That is a very good sign. She'll be good as new in time. I'm glad. If she keeps eating half your dinners you'll lose weight too. :)

This is great news Dennis. I can sleep better tonight.

And there is nothing wrong with turkey. My dogs eat raw turkey quite a bit. Never had a problem with it.

I haven't posted either- been up to my ears. Your lady girl is lovely. I am so glad she is pulling thru this and is on the mend. Even tho the people never came and checked on things, you have literally hundreds of people who love and care for your pup, without ever having met her in person.

That sounds like fun! By the time all the TB2K folks passed out their treats, both your pups would be fat and happy and ready for next months tour.

GREAT news! Thank you Lord!

What a big smile she has. Either she's stoned and feeling no pain or soaking up all the attention from her "pa" and Odin or knows she's now a big celebrity. Maybe all 3?

She really does look great and glad you posted her pictures. Now we need to see Odin. We love him too you know. Hows he reacting to Hermione now that shes so much better? Poor guy. He doesn't understand why she's getting all the attention and half of your TV dinner.

Yes I think you should take the pups on tour. Oh gosh. Do they like hot dogs?
