Geologist: Shaking Wasn't Florida Earthquake

PALM COAST, Fla. —

Investigators are trying to solve a bizarre mystery in Flagler County. A wave of people called 911 around 9:30am Friday to report the ground shaking in Flagler County. The calls all came from the Hammock area of Palm Coast (see map).
However, people in the north Daytona area, as well as in Deltona and as far north as St. Augustine, said they felt it as well. Many people were worried that the shaking was an earthquake.

The Emergency Management Office was on the phone all day trying to figure out the cause of the shaking. Residents said that buildings were shaking, and even a dispatcher in the county felt it happen.

"I live alone and I'm blind, and a while ago the house was shaking, do you happen to know?" a caller asked a 911 dispatcher.

"I'm not sure. We're actually getting quite a few calls about it now. We're having someone check it out, OK?" the dispatcher said.

The 911 call was one of about a dozen calls that poured into Flagler County. An unexplained phenomenon, described as everything from a low rumble to a window shaking movement, rattled residents from St. Augustine to the Volusia County.

"The ground rumbled and the building rumbled. Definitely abnormal for here," a resident told WFTV.

WFTV found at least two people who have experienced sonic booms and earthquakes from their time spent in California.

"That's what it felt like. It definitely felt like an earthquake," one resident said. "Enough to make you look to the ocean and say, 'OK, what's next, tsunami?' Because you're going, 'Is it an earthquake or not?'"

The U.S. Geological Survey told Flagler County that sensors in Georgia and Orlando picked up no movement. The National Weather Service reported nothing odd, and the Navy and Coast Guard told WFTV they had no information regarding on or offshore bombing exercises.

"We are checking with all the agencies that monitor those kinds of things and hopefully we'll come up with an answer, but right now, we're kind of perplexed," an official told WFTV.

Everything, from a meteor burning up to a moon phase that allows ocean waves to hit hard enough to vibrate the shoreline, is being considered as a cause.

Okay, I admit this is really weird and spooky. But, come on, how hard is it to dub a sound onto a video? That would be too easy to hoax.

An easy coordinated hoax from all around the world. Bwahahahaaha! yeah...

one word: creepy.

Interesting thread again, funny thing is I live on the border of east/middle tn. I live with in 1 mile of a mountain to the west and 75 feet from the rail rd. I hear trains all day. The other night I believe Saturday we were watching contagion awesome (movie by the way) and I heard the weirdest sound is started as a low pitched rumble then to high pitched with several large booms. the ground rumbled like like a train going by, but there were none going by. It was interesting also that I heard the rumbling over the TV and shut the TV down in order to hear what was coming thinking that train sounds different. It wasn't a train....

We are still hearing those noises around here. They stopped for about a month and a half after the first quake, after running for almost two months before it. Not only are there the wails and moans, but there are some ground rumbles and some very slow rolling quakes that we have had here. One of the roofers saw the trees in the distance all start swaying slowly during one of the slow rolling quakes, showing the "wave" in progress, and it was not the wind doing it. When the "waves" got up to the house he was working on, he felt it slowly in the rafters that he was putting up.

I don't think we are done yet, the ULF-VLF spectrum is VERY active now. The guys up at VaTech are saying that the probability for another quake on the southern East coast is very high for the next 30-40 days.

A couple of things cross my mind about this.. as you know the gov't is doing experiments with those sound cannons...makes me wonder if this could have caused some kind of disturbance deep within the earth. Or a space/time rift. Or something we have damaged we have no clue about. They SAY the micro black holes they are trying to create in Cern are harmless - are they? It's such a creepy noise and several have mentioned this is happening before earthquakes. Then I think of the Edward Cayce prediction about the poles reversing which seems out there, but maybe it isn't. As someone said, the sounds would be easy to fake on a video, but then someone credible on our own forum has hear it. We are playing with fire on many levels with the environment and don't know the consequences of our actions. There's an old indian prophecy that says the white men will ask the indian how to live again in harmony with the earth and it appears we are just starting to go that direction with all our prepping, people calling for sustainable living, seed banks, etc. I'm not sure what to think, but it doesn't seem like it'd be good.

Earth Groanings

Maybe this is off but perhaps this passage from Romans 8 has some clues:
19 For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. 20 For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of decay into the liberty of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and travails in pain together until now. 23 Not only so, but ourselves also, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for adoption, the redemption of our body. (World English Bible)

Not withstanding the earthquake booms have been reported in multiple situations and in multiple regions around the world for a long time prior to earthquakes occurring.

Interesting stuff on last years thread. There are several ancient cultures who use instruments that make similar sounds such as the conch shell and the Tibetan horn. Also the Tibetan throat singers make a similar sound. I don't think it is new to the earth.

One video had an old Mexican guy talking about the Mayans and how the earth was passing through an axis and would go dark for 60 hours. Then the sun would return. Similar Catholic prophecy.

Were there any earthquakes in Russia or Brazil last summer/early fall?

Sorry... Third clip in OP is a Transformers trailer

Is it the mysterious sound of the so-called coming Apocalypse? Some think that the mysterious sound heard in Costa Rica at around 12:30am this morning is exactly that.
Ronny Quintero, a seismologist said the event should be studied at the exact time and location of the anomalies to determine with certainty that there was no earthquake. He added that depending on the location of those who claim they heard the rumble or ”The Hum” it is easy to dismiss the possibility of tectonic movements.

Yeah there's a trailer for the movie at the end...but the clip from florida is from the youtube linked above.

Up to and before the movie trailer, you have an excellent collection of the sounds heard around the World on 110930 and since than. I counted 8 different examples...great job. Many people now believe these sounds to be related to the DUMBS being built all over the world. No one expects national governments to verify drilling is going on, yet the drilling machines are real and ample images exist. Weird that they would assign one to the Air Force and not the Army, go figure.

Heres the original philly report referenced from the news station 10

so I think the movie trailer was added as a "might be this" type of deal to clips from several videos.

RATTLE & HUM: Mysterious Booms Puzzles Residents in Horry County, South Carolina!

People in the northern end of Horry County were awakened with a start early Friday morning to what they say sounded like an explosion. People say the noise rattled windows and caused the ground to vibrate, but no one is quite sure what exactly caused the noise itself

Ground Shaking Booms Terrify Louisville 2011

Oct 3, 2011

The Lashbrooke subdivision in Louisville enjoyed a quiet and sun-bathed afternoon on Thursday. The peaceful surroundings of the affluent neighborhood along the Tennessee River lend no hint that its residents suffer from shell-shock.

"It's scary-loud. It's loud enough that it makes your heart stop for a second," said Andy Wombold. "It sounds like a shotgun or an explosion of some kind."

Audible range harmonics associated with the HAARP research program. Could audible ranges be somehow 'excited' by the higher frequency of HAARP? Just asking.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Frequency_Active_Auroral_Research_Program

The most prominent instrument at the HAARP Station is the Ionospheric Research Instrument (IRI), a high-power radio frequency transmitter facility operating in the high frequency (HF) band. The IRI is used to temporarily excite a limited area of the ionosphere. Other instruments, such as a VHF and a UHF radar, a fluxgate magnetometer, a digisonde, and an induction magnetometer, are used to study the physical processes that occur in the excited region.

The second incident occurred on the morning of January 12, 2012, the sound is heard for three hours and the noise that appears every three seconds from 3 am until dawn. This audio is successfully captured by one of the people of Kota Samarahan.More information can be read here http://www.theborneopost.com/2012/01/15/rumble-in-the-sky-over-samarahan/

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Unexplained chilling sounds, which filled the air of Samarahan in the wee hours of Jan 11 and 12, have residents there puzzled and perturbed until today.

One of the theories being thrown into the pan is that it could be a by-product of the High Frequency Active Auroral Research Programme (HAARP) undertaken by the United States, while others believed it were from processing machines hard at work at an oil palm factory owned by Felcra in Kampung Endap.

But the fact remains that until today the mysterious sounds, which some say resembled loud snoring sounds, remain veiled.

Teacher Mohd Ferdauz Jemain, who lives at Kampung Meranek, was one of those who heard the unexplained phenomenon on Jan 11.

“It was around 2 am when I was awoken by a strange sound. It was a loud hushing sound,
and quite similar to someone snoring.

“I immediately got out of bed and went outside of my house to see what was happening. The feeling was a chilling one. I could not establish where the sound was coming from … it was as if something coming from the sky.

“Frightened, I quickly dashed inside, but stayed awake till daylight as I would not sleep any longer. If I am not mistaken, the sound persisted until about 5am.”

To prove that he was not spinning a tale, Ferdauz said he had recorded the phenomenon on his mobile phone, and he played it for thesundaypost reporter yesterday.

He added that the matter became a hot topic of discussion in Samarahan that day, and
some of the residents even documented their experience on Facebook.

“Villagers in Meranek, Pinang, Sindang, Tambirat and even those living at Desa Ilmu housing estate have also heard those eerie sounds.”

Several residents suggested that it could have come from the oil palm factory in Kampung Endap, but resident Harith Amin, who had worked at that factory previously, brushed it off as nonsense.

The factory has been there for the last eight years, and I am sure it was not sounds produced by the machines there. In addition to that, no oil palm processing machines could produce sounds which could be heard 8km away,” said Harith, who also made a recording of what he had witnessed. To verify Harith’s theory, Ferdauz decided that should the phenomenon occur again the next day, he would make a dash for the factory.

Ferdauz: “I worked at a school in Sebuyau, so I wake up very early to go to school. True enough, the strange sounds happened the next day, and I quickly made a stop in front of the factory. No sounds came out from there (factory).”
Ferdauz claimed that he also saw strange pattern in the skies in the early morning of Jan 12.

“The clouds appeared to be in straight lines, and well formed. I have never seen anything like it, but whatever it is, I am sure there must be a scientific explanation for it.

“But later that day, an earthquake hit Sumatera in neighbouring Indonesia with a magnitude of 7.3 on the Richter scale. I am not sure whether both incidents are related in some ways.”
The incidents only occurred for two nights – Jan 11 and 12.

Meanwhile, Kampung Meranek’s JKKK chairperson Mahmud Pawi, who claimed that he also heard the sounds together with his family, said hoped that the authorities concerned could shed light on the matter.

“When I woke up that morning (Jan 11), I had goose bumps just listening to the sounds. I quickly woke up my entire family and we sat at the veranda trying to figure out what it was and where it was coming from.
“We hope that someone can step forward and enlighten us with an explanation.”

Search for Cause of KY Explosions Ends for Now - Still a Mystery

There are still no answers as to what caused an apparent explosion in Perry County (KENTUCKY) Sunday (DECEMBER 11, 2011) night.

Crews spent hours searching Sunday night after initial reports of a possible plane crash, but they gave up the search around 1:00 a.m. and said it was probably an explosion at an abandoned mine.

Now officials with the Division of Abandoned Mine Lands are saying there is no evidence at the mine that would support an explosion.

Some say they felt their homes shaking, others say they saw a fireball, but as of now no one can say for sure what happened in Perry County Sunday night.

One thing about all those vids...where is everyone else?

Except for one or two where the relative [[son/bro/hubby/wife]] goes running around in circles saying "Whas' DAT????' there seems to be a lcack of reaction from anyone else.

You'd think if that kind of noise was happening then there's be a zillion peple running around outside with their hair on fire. lights coming on and cars stopping.

Take the newscast of the ball game-almost no reaction by the fans or players that I observed. If I was on the field and this weirdassed noise started overwhelming the crowds and stuff I'd likely stop and look around thinking "WTF???"

Crowds kept cheering and players kept playing. No reaction.

While I'd love to see angels coming in on chariots or a bigassed building stomping moster show up I'm still a sceptic until I see proof.

At one time didn’t the US Navy experiment using ground tectonics to contact subs deep in hiding with out have to move and deploy their antenna and possibly giving their position away.

IIRC this was used off of the south eastern seaboard of CONUS and it was driving whales to beach themselves and driving the tree hugger’s nuts.

There was an X-Files episode on this exact scenario…

I can not shout loudly enough that while a good deal of this may be mixed-up movie trailers and other obvious sounds hyped up for the Internet: ANYONE living in the Mid-West/New Madrid Fault zone (or other geologically active area like Idaho, California, Japan, Greece etc) should pay very careful attention if they hear stuff like this.

Starting about five years ago now (can't remember exactly) someone on this forum saw steam rising out of the ground driving home towards their home in the New Madrid area. They asked for advice and pretty much everyone suggested they contact the local geology people, I never heard if they got anyone to listen or not, but that was a canary in the coal mine to me.

Here is an excerpt from the official New Madrid web pages talking about some of the reported stuff that survivors recounted at the time. Notice the "sounds like thunder storms," it is becoming increasingly obvious that like "earthquake lights" (also once thought to be fictional but since caught on camera and instruments) that these sounds can occur before as well as during quakes. It is probably the sound of a fault "waking up," and may be similar to the harmonic tremors that volcano's make.

Click on the title to link to the webpage:

Earthquake Phenonema
Sand Boils
The world’s largest sand boil was created by the New Madrid earthquake. It is 1.4 miles long and 136 acres in extent, located in the Bootheel of Missouri, about 8 miles west of Hayti, Missouri. Locals call it “The Beach.” Other, much smaller, sand boils are found throughout the area.

Seismic Tar Balls
Small pellets up to golf ball sized tar balls are found in sand boils and fissures. They are petroleum that has been solidified, or “petroliferous nodules.”

Earthquake Lights
Lights flashed from the ground, caused by quartz crystals being squeezed. The phenomena is called “seismoluminescence.”

Warm Water
Water thrown up by an earthquake was lukewarm. It is speculated that the shaking caused the water to heat up and/or quartz light heated the water.

Earthquake Smog
The skies turned dark during the earthquakes, so dark that lighted lamps didn’t help. The air smelled bad, and it was hard to breathe. It is speculated that it was smog containing dust particles caused by the eruption of warm water into cold air.

Loud Thunder
Sounds of distant thunder and loud explosions accompanied the earthquakes.

Animal Warnings
People reported strange behavior by animals before the earthquakes. They were nervous and excited. Domestic animals became wild, and wild animals became tame. Snakes came out of the ground from hibernation. Flocks of ducks and geese landed near people.

Strange Sound Heard Throughout Costa Rica

This news has rattled the social web whereas Costa Ricans and the world over are scrambling to figure out what this mysterious sound could have been. Authorities have yet to comment on the subject although OVSICORI, the Costa Rica Volcanologist and Seismologist Organization is saying there is no Earth movements recorded at the time of the strange sound.

Here is a YouTube video showing how it sounded. The second video was filmed in Kiev, Ukraine where the sound has also appeared. (at link)

It is important to note that this is not the wind nor was it filmed anywhere near the ocean. The sound was heard throughout the entire country from Heredia to Perez Zeledon.

What you are hearing is NOT HAARP. They are not running that system and even if they were it would not produce the effects that we are seeing. This is much bigger than what HAARP, and all of the rest of the IHs combined could even dream of doing. This is being caused by something much bigger, with the sun being part of it, but i'm not betting the major part anymore.
_____

The whole "188 day timing thing" IS starting to look more convincing however, and a few of my contacts up in VaTech land have been talking about this as well. We are beginning to wonder if there is something out deeper in space that is affecting us. Picture this:

365.25 / 2 = 182.635 days Every half year the alignment with the sun would be this timing, either with us on the inside, or outside of the sun.

Now, IF the object was moving, and everything in the Universe is moving, that could explain the extra 5.375 days. The question is, if you draw a line between us and the sun, continuing on in both directions, where does that point to? The next question is about the places that had the earthquakes on those days, were they in line with that alignment? That is what they are wondering now. I'm still trying to find some good software so that I can play with this idea myself, Stellarium won't do that easily.

And another thought in Revelations it tells us we will live as in the days of Noah. Well has anyone gone and researched those days, God gave Noah lots of heads up, and the locals as well but everyone ignored those signs except for Noah and his family. What does Gensis and ancient texts say about the events leading up to the flood? What kinds of sounds were they hearing???

Saved, to glorify God.
The problem is the REAL recorded unusual phenomena sounds are now mixed up with HOAX and normal rare but perfectly explainable unusual sounds.

Weather and other conditions can combine to project the sound of a train, military bombing range training, (or thunderstorm) passing FAR FAR from where the sound originates. 99.9% of the time I can never hear a train passing, but once in a blue moon you can hear a train (about 18 miles away) as it passes.

Tape recording the utube video sound, possibly a very real sound, the people in Russia heard would enable any other attention seeking person to PLAY the sound of the Russian phenomena while he pointed his camera out HIS window and claim the sound was occurring in Ohio or Ireland for that matter. So, we have to ask is this the exact same sound the Russians heard? Maybe it is because it is a RECORDING of that sound and not another instance of it happening.

Since some of the sounds do reference earthquakes in close proximity of the sounds I am wondering if you had tectonic or volcanic movement under the earth could it reverberate (sp?) through all the steel etc in the buildings and skyscrapers like someone said about the flagpole earlier?

increased energy coming in from the sun (space/universe) producing greater release of energy from the earth?
