I need help. I have acquired an old push planter made by Sears. It is Model 980.1 per the tag on the handle. It is incomplete and rather rusty. It also has a 10x cast in the seed tub. It is interesting in that it uses a drum to dispense seed and not teh usual disc. I am guessing late 1800-1920s at the latest. Does anyone have an old Sears catalog from that time that may have a picture in it? I am going to try to get it going again and need to figure out the missing parts so I can make them. Thanks

Mecoastie:

I actually do have an old Sears Catalog from 1912. It is fragile and I will look through it tonight to see if the item your talking about is there.

Let you know what I find tomorrow night.

Looked at the Sears catalog and I did not see any model numbers listed for plows.

Is there a company name on any of the parts. The 1912 Sears book lists Kenwood push plows.

I could scan the pages and post them if that would help.

Can you post a picture of what you have? I searched Google images and found a lot of things but none identified by that number.
