IMO, it's quite evident that the law they were enforcing was written more for times of anarchy, not snow storms.

Most states have specific criteria in their laws when riots are occurring or there is civil unrest. Banning of gasoline in small containers (think molotov cocktails),selling of alcohol (promotes stupidity) and the carrying of weapons plus a specific curfew makes sense.
Now IMO, the carrying of weapons should not be prohibited only say during the curfew hours that people can be about doing legitimate business.

But these are just my opinions.

Several have alluded to the facts. The facts need to be more overtly stated.

1. N.C. passed a state statute on this.
2. The city fathers declared a state of emergency.
3. Paula May only enforced the existing law.

It is not Paula May's fault that a state statute was passed or that the city fathers declared an emergency. Paula May has done all 2nd amendment people a favor by calling attention to the problem so that it can be rectified in subsequent legislation. Most police chief's would have ignored the law only to bring it out and enforce it when you really needed your 2d amendment rights the most. Paula did ok.
