Meet 'Giant George' the 7ft-long blue great Dane who could be the world's tallest dog
Standing at nearly 43 inches tall from paw to shoulder and weighing a staggering 245lbs could this be the world's new tallest dog?

Pictured here in the parks of Tucson , Arizona , George, a four-year-old blue great Dane, looks more like a miniature horse than a dog.

'Giant George' and owner Dave Nasser share a couch together: The four-year-old blue great Dane, weighs a staggering 245lbs and measures almost 43ins at the shoulder.

The gentle giant, who measures 7ft 3ins from nose to tail, could be a prime contender to take the title from the former record holder, Gibson, a harlequin Great Dane who passed away from cancer last August.
Now George's owners, David and Christine Nasser, are awaiting confirmation from Guinness World Records to see if he has achieved the lofty heights.

'He's 42.625 inches at the shoulder,' said David. 'He's very very unique.'
According to David, George consumes 110lbs of food every month, and sleeps alone in his own Queen Size Bed.
David and Christine raised George from when he was 7 weeks old, but never expected him to grow so big.

With size comes problems: The giant great Dane barely fits in the back of his owner's SUV

The couple eventually had to move their aptly named dog out of their king sized bed, when he grew too large for the three of them to share the same sheets.
Dr. William Wallace of the Buena Pet Clinic in Tucson , who witnessed the documentation necessary for the Guinness record, said: 'In my 45 years of experience working with giant breed dogs, without question, George is the tallest dog I have ever seen.'
David is currently rushing to get that necessary documentation into Guinness as other dog owners are coming forth claiming the record.

As they wait for the results to come through, George is busy occupying himself with his new found stardom and even has a Facebook fan page and Twitter accounts for his adorning fans.
It appears as though the sky's the limit for this mammoth hound.

Paws for thought: George's giant feet dwarf his owner Dave Nassar's hand. Last August the world’s tallest dog, Gibson, a harlequin Great Dane, passed away from cancer

We had a huge brindle Dane when I was a kid; I rode him like a pony.

He was hit by a VW once; the VW had to be towed away and our Dane ran home.

The bummer is, that dog will be lucky to see its 8th birthday. The bigger they are, the shorter their life.

He needs to see an optrician about those crossed eyes in the SUV picture!
lol

Looks sweet, but I would hate to have his food and vet bill!

I wonder who trims his nails? A blacksmith? You would need a pair of hoof nippers to trim those things. Even my heavy duty nail trimmers wouldn't fit those.

What a beautiful animal tho. He really is a nice looking dog.

You would have to buy a cow a month to feed him tho. "if you fed him a raw diet like we do our dogs".

There was a thread here about 6 months ago, on feeding of pooches, and such.

It led to my wife and I doing some research on just what is in most popular dog/cat food, etc (if you knew, you'd never feed it to your worst enemy).

One of the reasons it caught my eye was one of our dogs was having "seizures" every 1 1/2 to 3 months, and they were becoming increasingly bad, and lasting longer. Took him to the Vet, who said, "Yup! what you have is an epileptic dog." and he proceeded to educate us on how to endure it.

All completely bunk. What we had was simply a dog who was more susceptible to all the poisonous crap they put in dog food, than the rest of our brood.

By way of saying thanks to everyone in that thread, and maybe help some other people with this, I'd like to share what fixed everything, for us.

About 7 miles from us is the town of Norco, Ca. which, like our area, it is houses set on large lots, and zoned for lots of critters (May not still be true, but a few years ago the horse population of Norco outnumbered the people. Whadya expect from a California town where the local 7-11 has a hitchin' post? ;)).

One of the places there is called "Gentle Giants, rescue and adoption". They specialize in just what the name implies.

Point is;
They also have their own product which carries their name, and is completely without what are called "animal byproducts". If you don't know, in many places "animal byproducts" is a legal term, which defines what is "acceptable" to put in dog food. Naturally defined by the people who make dog food. It includes just about anything that was once alive, and can be ground up into animal food. In fact it even includes "flat cats", including the plastic bags they were picked up in, and whatever they died of.

Gentle Giants, dog food runs about $5 more than most competition for a 40 lb. bag, but... It stopped our dog's seizures dead in their tracks! Also the rest of our dogs are a whole lot calmer, and such.

Anyway, thought I'd take the opportunity of this thread going by, to say thank you to everyone who participated in the last thread, and got us to go find our own solution for what the Vet either couldn't, or wouldn't see.

BTW, Gentle Giants is run by a guy by the name of Burt Ward. If that sounds a bit familiar, you're right. He was TV's Robin ("Bruce Wayne's ward") many moons ago.

See? there is a useful life possible beyond Hollywood, after all ;)

They really don't eat as much as you think they would, especially as they get older. Trimming the nails? I let the vet do it. Pooper Scooping? Get a big shovel .... or two!

Sadly, they do not live as long as smaller dogs. That is why they are sometimes called The Heartbreak Breed - because you have them for such a short time. I lost my 200 lb. Dane one month before his 9th birthday.

I thought you guys would get a kick outta seeing this. I Snopesed it before posting, just in case.

I used to have a really giant GSD, but his life was way too short. Still miss him with all my heart. I posted pics on Animal Magnetism a few years back if'n ya wanna see how handsome he was.

ETA: I dusted of the thread from three years ago: http://www.timebomb2000.com/vb/showthread.php?t=235838&highlight=pass

He brought a whole new meaning to the saying about being the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

Try WWW.Omaspride.com - my animals LOVE the treats, and I'm going to start using their food.
