Another Short Short Story Contest

The prize isn't much. The winner gets to be interviewed and have his or her story read on National Public Radio, and also gets an autographed book on "How Fiction Works." But on the bright side, there's no entry fee. The entry must be sent in by August 25th (this Tuesday).

Your story must be no longer than 600 words, and begin with the sentence, "The nurse left work at five o'clock." One entry per person. Stories must be received by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
