My Flag

At the front of my home
I've hung the flag
of the United States of America.

It was to the Republic
for which it stands
that I put it there all day and night
lit by a special light.


I saw the USA for most my life
as one nation under God
and indivisible.

Where I kept in my heart that
that there was liberty and justice
for all.

Now all I have is my home and my flag.

All else seems to have gone from my dreams.

It came to me as I said 'goodnight' to my flag on my front porch. I do that every night before heading for bed.

Say a prayer for our country too while I look at it.
