Foodsaver question

Has anyone here used the Foodsaver to vacuum seal contents from canned goods? just wondering if the food inside the can will last longer if it (the food, not the can lol) is vacuumed sealed. Thanks.

Reader, I am going to assume that you are taking a big can and breaking it down into smaller packages. I have done that with dry stuff, I wouldn't with wet stuff. So if you are doing that so dry stuff will last longer I would say yes, that will work, especially if you are in a humid climate.

Yes about the dry. Why wouldn't it work with the wet stuff? Just curious.

In the case of a foodsaver, it will suck any liquid out just as readily as it will suck air. You have to freeze it first. Even then, if there is alot of condensation, that's a problem. So I generally I freeze it, wrap it (cling wrap is fine) then into the foodsaver bag to be sealed.

I went ahead and emptied the contents of a can of ranch style beans into a Foodsaver bag, and it worked just fine! No leaks. Promptly put it into the freezer. I, also, experimented with a slice of bread. Although the bread is flat, lol, it seems fine. I did not freeze the bread, but put it into the pantry.
