We are still trying to get the garden in here. We have had a LOT of rain. So we are kind of behind on getting it in. WE have planted part of it in the raised beds. So at least that part is done.
The tomatoes are planted in 1/2 barrels and covered with quilts at night. And they are now startig to bloom.
We have replanted a lot of herbs this year. And we moved a lot of compost to do it. But it sure is nicer.
But since the sun is shining I better get out and garden.

Going outside is like walking through a steam room. There needs to be another descriptive word between "muggy" and "rain". Everything is growing faster than I can keep up with ... especially the weeds. Didn't want another expense right now but it looks like I am going to have to mulch in several places or I'll lose what I have growing there. There's these vines around here that, while not as big as kudzu, have the same type of growth pattern. They can easily grow four to six inches in length and if you don't pull every little bit of root out of the ground you can expect the vine to come right back within a week or two. Bleck!

Need to put more fertilizer around the fruit trees. On a couple of them I'm going to use spikes instead to try and even out the growth. And with that I need to trim several limbs on the oak trees that are now so heavy with leaves they are leaning to far down. I've got a pile to burn back by the pond but when i have the time it is too wet, when it is dry I don't have the time to babysit it. Sigh.

On a positive note, received my order from Honeyville and I'm back to being very happy with our LTS food. I'm also very happy with the amount of canned meat we have, both home canned and commercial. Aldi is my friend. Grin. I've got a short list that will top off our cleaning and hygiene supplies except for monthly replacement as needed so I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in that area as well. My dehydrator has been going all week which is another really good thing.
