Hardening Off Question

I have 2 plants that I had in the garden last year. We had an early frost so I brought them in early last fall in big pots. They have done well in the house all winter and as things are starting to heat up for the summer I’m begging to think about moving them back outside. However… Before I do, do I need to harden them off again before leaving them outside 24/7? Or can I just throw them outside in a sunny spot and call it good? I’d hate like hell to kill them after I’ve babied them all winter.

Look for a place where they can get the sun they need but protected from strong winds.

3-4 days should be fine. Dessication (drying out) and sunburn are the two main problems... where you are, sunburn isn't too likely this early, though.

For how long?

Its just to give them chance to build its strength to stand up on it own with being blown over or bent and it all depends on the plants just how long. A little plant food may help.

What about a quicky plastic sheet (vapour barrier) tent for night time? Up here we are still down to 40F the odd night.
