Here's an old cartoon that shows our current free-spending government and a screwed-over taxpayer is by no means something new under the sun. Note the guy on the left is President Truman (1945-1953). Although I think the "billions" is so darn cute considering what's coming out of D.C. these days.

My response to the weaponry comment would have been "oh, I have that covered already, complete with long-range sniping capabilities - you won't even make it to my yard."

All humor aside, the point is still made - there are for a certainty people that are more than willing to simply take what they can from whoever they know is "takable from," and if you mention preps to them that info is filed away in their "places to attack for supplies" list.

NC Susan, then you may love this one. It's from when the US was in Lebanon (I think in the early 1980s), but I think of it as the last few thousand years of Middle East history in a nutshell.
