With a nod to JC Refuge, who developed and created this identical poll the first seventeen times, and to CfI for invaluable assistance, here we go again. The poll will remain up for five days. Your poll responses are private and cannot be viewed, but I encourage you to post your response and why you voted the way you did.

I am somewhere in between the bit concerned and the watchful ready and checking preps. We had to use all of our food preps in 2004 and 2005, and I am just now able to start restocking, so it is a bit disconcerting.

For many of these polls I was in the middle - watchful. Last poll I moved up a notch and am still there at glued to the tube expecting something any day. I check the news four times a day. How long ago was the last poll, maybe last Sept?

I was over on the Prep forum in "Weekly Prep Thread" to see how everyone else is feeling, because I'm nervously topping off my long-term food preps like crazy. Bought some more silver, a new pressure cooker and a case of motor oil, too. I put new tires on my bicycle, am getting my motorcycle its 10K service next week, just had my truck's issues all resolved, and I'm down to my final to-do's. I'm not freaking out, but I am ready for just about anything. I'm leaving the checking account as is, but I'm withdrawing the savings and am strongly considering stopping the direct deposit. Have been topping off all three vehicles at every chance, which gives me 60 gallons of gas plus what I have stored.

I just don't see the world continuing to spin the same way for much longer the way things have been going the past couple weeks. The price of food is escalating beyond belief, the price of fuel is hanging by a thread and if ANYTHING happens, I'm sure it will sky rocket.

Guess that makes me concerned and watchful.

This past week in the stock market has done me in.

I can say I feel like I'm having a cow, but I actually wish I was having one, because then I could slaughter him up for the canning!

I don't have enough of anything. I went to THREE mennonite markets today for dry goods and I'm hitting the Costco tomorrow for the canned and freezer.

I'm afraid my dollars are about to be worth nickels.

ETA: Dh ordered up a minimal solar system and rainbarrel catchment system today. I only hope it arrives before we need it.

I've given up on the MSM. They're just *issing me off with their non-coverage of everything important. So guess where I voted.

I voted "watchful, ready, and checking the preps, just in case."

Except for firewood, I feel pretty well prepped. I usually keep enough firewood for two winters. I've got enough for this winter and part of next. Will buy more in spring, but wish could afford to do it now. However, I do have a large propane tank with lots in it.

Everything else is in good shape. Need to get a bit more organized, though. When that happens, I may find a few holes.

Pleased to have my root cellar set up now and running.

I voted watchful. I'm watching Countdown to Armageddon on the history channel  .

Actually I have been topping off preps for the last few weeks after using them for five months to feed three familes during my mother's illness and passing. I didn't want to leave town long enough to do my usual shopping.

I lost all interest in prepping after her passing but I got an overwhelming feeling a couple weeks ago that I had to replenish my preps and so I am.

I have enough preps to live comfortably for awhile but I'm 'Feeling' like I should spend a few thousand more......and very soon too.

Dunno why.

I just can't put my finger on 'How' I'm feeling.

Strange as it may seem I really have no serious concerns. Most of my prepping has been done to help others but when you are basically alone and have the issued I have then it's more of an anxiety to "Get it on!" rather than it happening when you are too old or sick to do a thing to help yourself.

I voted for watchful and ready , but that is really just my normal state.
My preps are pretty well taken care of. For me it is just a lifestyle choice.

I didn't actually vote, because I need a category between "watchful" and "glued to the screen". Something like "Sharply increased Anxiety-still functional". Been topping off supplies and equipment as fast as my stack of dimes and quarters allows.

My focus right now is the risk of economic calamity, although that can change in the blink of an eye, considering world events

I agree that Economic issues seem to be center stage.

I think we are already in a stealth recession and not far from a bigger crash.

these tax refunds are Ben Bernankes helicopter money incentives but its too little too late now.

I posted glued to the screen. With the stock market, and the government issuing economic checks to stimulate the economy. I don't know but have the feeling it will take a war to correct things. It is also a little like I see history repeating itself.

Watchful and ready here...my senses have been increasingly moving to high alert these past few weeks and the intuitive nudges this week are about rounding out my collection of tools and gardening supplies and getting in another 50 lbs of hard white spring wheat. Heritage seeds have been ordered and are on their way. I'm thinking that it won't be long now as to hitting the fan due to the intuitive pressure to PREP that has been steadily building and I have been prepping since 1998. I'm not in a perfect situation but have done the best that I can do, thus, refuse to worry about that which I am unable to control...what I can control are the energies of my own emotions for which I alone am responsible. Some days are better than others.

A bit concerned. Actually, more like "resignation." We've done just about all we can do given our resources. Now it's more like waiting for my turn to perform whatever task it is that I'm to do. Put another way: Although I consider myself a "close-up" magician, I've done platform shows before. Same anxious feeling, albeit not as strong, waiting for the announcer to introduce me. After I'm on stage, the feeling goes away.

Watching and waiting here. I wish I had more money available for preps but any extra I squirrel away ends up paying for heating oil. Doesn't help that I just paid the property taxes either. I have to admit I tune in the news more often lately, watching the market ups and downs more than anything else and wondering how much more expensive my next trip to the supermarket will be. I'll get by but I wish I had a better cushion.

No concerns here. Prepped and ready. In fact I figured it was time to start rotating my stock again.

Cooked some "better if used by 14sep04" Hamburger Helper last night. Just as crappy as if it were fresh.

Voted watchful and ready, but know I need to check my preps - haven't been too good in rotating as it is much easier to eat what I just bought, so must get busy doing that and then updating what I need. Feel like 'something this way comes' in the near future.

Seems lately the stock market thing had me watching too much, but I've calmed down. I have my preps so I feel fairly confident unless something major happens like from outside the country...invading, etc. There's so many variables in today's world you almost don't know which way to watch. But if you can say watchful, I guess that is what I am.

Pass Go..........

Considering the state of the economy and the world situation as such, I was wondering if you think that Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun are doing their usual level of business, or are now or have been feeling the effects also?

Anytime I go to the casinos, Linda - either one - they are busy. The last time I went to the Mohegan Sun, 12/29 I think it was, I had to park on the roof. All the other levels were full. I go for the food and shows - I'm not much of a gambler. The people-watching is entertaining. I've noticed there are lots of orientals working and playing there, too. Many more than earlier years.

I'm between a bit concerned and watchful. For some reason I just don't feel too stressed about things right now as I usually do. Tomorrows another day......I may be back to glued by then. :)

In between watchful and glued to the screen. The SOTU address could be a turning point if something happens. I'm expecting a new war to break out at any moment that will escalate into WWIII.

There is nothing on the "screen" that's going to tell me anything so it's pointless to use it as a source for predicting anything other than when something actually happens. I don't get my news from the lamestream media, especially the US media. They are treating us like mushrooms because their owners and handlers are telling them to treat us as such.

Even if nothing happens during the SOTU, something WILL happen in the middle east to plunge us into war before the next poser president is in the house and that could result in their not being a new president...economically everything is bleak we are in a recession going into a great depression, only fool can't see that now. My company may change hands in the near future and I could get laid off, nothing tells me that everything is going to be stable this year.

We are heading towards dark times and I have prepped about all I can under my circumstances. Being stressed about it isn't going to help me stay focused.

I voted glued to the screen but like others I'm somewhere between there and watchful. I have stepped up the preps bigtime the last year with a Berkey, rad meter and dosimeters from Shane, lots more cases of Mountain House, canned butter and cheese, lots more canned groceries, etc. I feel alot better about my preps, but it is never ending. I feel like "watchful" is where I always am but certainly spent last week "glued" especially to econamic news. I am calming down a bit now, but will remain watchful.

Voted Watchful, just continuing to prep, a hope for the best prepared for the worst mentality.

Better to have prepped then to have done nothing at all.

I care little about the stock market. Even less about bird flu. Slightly less than that about the TU24 rock that's wizzing by.............nah, I'm pretty laid back right now.

I even tried to gain back my Doomer feelings by watching 4 hours of 2012, 7 ways the Earth can die, doom predictions, etc on the History Channel............still not feeling it though.:popcorn1:

BTW, I voted absolutely no worries.

I am stressed out.
Last week and the economy, this week with have the SOTU address tonight, FDR Open in Scottsdale and Superbowl a few miles from our house in Phoenix...it's ripe for a mass slaughter, despite their stellar security precautions....

On the Plus side, Hillary got demolished in South Carolina on Sauturday, and Rudy's campaign is going to be destroyed in Florida on Tuesday....The whole family is going to be at the ranch from Friday evening until Monday morning...

odd that we still are getting a near perfect bell curve on our poll. i suppose that means nothing different than the last times. although from the comments it is clear that many are more concerned about the economy than before. i voted watching waiting as usual, but like others here, it is not so much that i don't think something big can't happen soon, just that being prepared more than most, i don't lose much sleep over it.

Bit of anxiety state as I am in California living with my sister. She has no preps to speak of and not thinking of getting any. Sooooo, ordered freeze dried and some MRE's to stick in her garage. All my other stuff is in Arizona way far , far away. Kinda makes you feel like there no floor under you. Don't see how people live that way!
