Time to once again gauge anxiety levels. Why? It just is. ;)

For those of you who have been around a while, you'll recall that a couple of years ago, we did a series of 13 of these over a period of about 6 months. Then last year in September, we did another poll. (All worded exactly the same.)

The September '05 poll easily established the higest average anxiety reading we've measured (immediately following Katrina). The average on that poll was 2.42.

Poll #13 includes links to all the previous polls and those results.

Here's an explanation of how the poll results are averaged out.

Please remember, that it's very helpful (for future reference) if at least some of you comment in the thread about what is currently going on that is causing prepper stress.

I love these polls! I'm glued to the screen and the shortwave monitoring as much as i can. It's looking grim as the destruction escalates daily over there and seems to be expanding.

Expecting the worst, here, but for the record very little of my anxiety has to do with the Israel/Lebanon situation. Much more concerned about climate change/EQ's, etc.

Watching the whole situation, though.

Thanks for posting this... I was just thinking about the anxiety polls this morning and wondering how TB'ers would weigh in. Have to admit I'm close to the high end of the worry meter! Some recent posts in the Bomb Shelter haven't helped. :sht:

DW and I have zilch in the way of disposable $$$. Nonetheless, we are still doing are best to prep as much as possible. Just got through refilling all prescriptions, topped off the gas tank and will be going out tonight to get some more prepper foods.

Fortunately, we live out in the country so we have our own well. The only other thing I wish with all my heart we had is a generator.

Otherwise, prepping for the worst, hoping for the best.

I Don't Give a Rat's Ass...I'm Outta Here!
Staying glued to the screen(s), except for a couple of runs to the grocery and to fill up both cars.

I haven't felt like this since 1962.

I picked number four because some of my foodstocks had to be 'rotated' out and had not that much money to 'rotate' any replacements in yet..so as far as food have only about a month left, and want a lot more than that.:shkr:

Glued to the screen. Not much money to add to preps, rotated all my water day before yesterday. Was almost in tears last night while reading the board, really wondering if my kids will be alive in six months..... :shk:

When I am home, I am reading tbk2 with my tv on the news in the background. When I am on the road, I have my radio on talk radio and news stations - When I am at work, I try to sneak a peek at tbk2 - I'm expecting something big to happen.

This too shall pass.
I've been too busy to be glued to the screen -- but I think, in times like these, it's better to have something to do. It's not good to just sit at the computer 24/7, waiting for everything to blow up around us. Even if it's just to take a walk, get out and DO something! If you have any yard at all, dig it up and get it ready to be a garden -- maybe you can start planting fall crops soon. That's at least something productive you could be doing. If you can't garden where you are, find a hobby or a craft that might be useful someday, and start learning how to do it. Work on physical fitness. Anything other than sit here glued to your computer screen in a state of constant anxiety!

I voted glued to the news. I really alternate between a bit concerned and wishing I had a bunker to hide in. In the end not much we can do but keep informed so we will know when it is time to lean over and kiss it goodbye.

I'm watchful and expecting the worst but don't feel I'm ready prepwise. I still want some major prep problems solved like: how are we going to stay warm this winter if the grid goes and how are we going to get water out of our well if we run out of fuel for the generator. I have a couple of months of food for a family of 6 but sure would love to have a year. That's what I'm trying to accomplish in the next month. We were able to dump the rest of the years on our timeshare in Mexico so that is a real blessing to have those extra funds to "get 'er done". I woke up this morning and opened my Bible. It just opened to Psalm 71 which was a very fitting way to open the day. Being spiritually prepared for what's coming is still the most important. I know we serve a merciful God. I've been drawn lately to pray for those who have walked away from Him. In Zech 1:3 God says if you return to me, I'll return to you. And I know He means it. God Bless, everyone!

I chose watchful and ready. My preps are in good shape with the exception
of stored gas.

I spent most of the day working in the garden. I did check here more
than I usually do during the day.

No, JGFla, don't stop posting in the BS! It just isn't helping my anxiety level...

BTW, when this poll first went up it was leaning toward the high end or the worry scale. I guess those of us living on TB 24/7 voted early! Now the average is dropping toward the lower end of the scale as the calmer folks weigh in.

My "mainline denomination" discouraged studying much of biblical prophecy, so I while I have read it on my own, I get confused by the various arguing over the exact sequences that get argued about...

when I google, I come up with links like this, but do not feel I know enough to be certain of the validity of the opinons expressed...

WATCHING MEXICO

Personally, I am watching the politics in Mexico more than any other besides the Mid East. The USA wants them in the North American union. However, the evolving mess with the voting fraud is troublesome and disturbing.

Edit---voted #3

Ya just needn't waste your time and energy worrying over this. It will just escalate to the point that Israel and/or Israel and the US have the opportunity and excuse to take out Iran's nuke program sites. Then it will settle down to a long drawn out rerun. Europe will gain stature (and power over Israel) in the peace process. What will be will be. Go read a book.

I voted 2, but i'm between 2 and 3 . . . There's been so much going on here, locally, that i haven't had too much time to think about anything outside of a 50-mile radius, or if i had to think about it, it was some issue specific to me or my family. I want to stock up more, but the guys aren't helping me figure out what more to stock and it's frustrating because 1) money is soooooo tight and 2) there are things we just don't eat any more, and we think we'd have to be pretty darn hungry to change that (but i don't really know and won't know till it might be too late). Not sure this makes any sense even. (really, been a rough week  )

I know how you feel about the babies... I wonder what kind of life my little ones will have, if we will be sitting around the fire one day explaining what tv and refrigerators were.

It's interesting television tonight...

Anderson Cooper live on the border (good coverage for CNN for once)...
The History channel showing shows on armageddon.
CNBC freaking out.
And more and more anxiety and traffic on this board and other boards.

Just wow.....

I voted glued to the screen although I'm not really. Just checking in much more often during the day and night. Usually I'd be in bed now, but we had friends over who stayed late and I couldn't go to bed after they left until I've checked tb2k to see what's going on in the world, lol. I'm definitely a step above the watchful and ready stage.

Hope in chains...
Well, my level went from watchful to glued to the screen when hubby emailed me back when I asked him to get some prep bucks from the bank-10s, 5's and 1's. No 20's. Reminded him of the NEWS stories about people having to pay 20$ for a bag of ice in a hurricaned area last year because no one had any change. His email said "the Market is looking exactly like it did before the crash of 1987(?) ".
He brought home the xtra cash........

Tomorrow I am going to replace some preps I had given away-been on my list till I got paid again and going to go do it tomorrow.

(I could be wrong about that date, it was in my work email so I cant access it to see what the date was for sure)

I voted glued to the screen--------- THis week I went through all my preps, rotated and organized them, bought more dog food LOTS of dog food.

And most importantly, up dated my contact information for the TB Early Alert System. Sure hope that the system works! I have a feeling TSwill HTF at the worst possible time -- like when I am at work and stuck at the hospital!

I get too tired with life to be anxious. I have been watching along with everyone here. Each day is a gift. I don't want to forget that. I just keep plugging away at prepping.
