Patrick Swayze 'says goodbye as cancer spreads'
ACTOR Patrick Swayze has reportedly started saying goodbye to family and friends after learning his cancer has spread to his liver.

The Dirty Dancing and Ghost star, who in January was told he had pancreatic cancer, has started preparing himself for death, reports say
"Patrick recently got word that the cancer had spread to his liver and that is what his doctors said would begin the countdown to the end," a source told National Enquirer magazine.

"Patrick knew it was coming because he was suffering increased weakness.

"At times, he was so weak that he could barely walk without feeling faint. Sometimes he feels out of breath and has to sit down."

Swayze, 56, told Lisa, his wife of 33 years, and his brother Donny that he doesn't have long to live.

"Lisa phoned Donny in Los Angeles and told him he need to come to Chicago, where Patrick has been filming TV show The Beast. She was crying and scared Donny to death," the source told National Enquirer.
"Donny got the impression his brother was already on his deathbed because Lisa was saying Patrick wanted to say goodbye. She couldn't stop crying."

Swayze has been undergoing pioneering Cyberknife radiotherapy at California's Stamford University Medical Centre, and had been making a steady recovery from the illness.

He has finished filming The Beast in Chicago, where he has been putting in 12-hour days. He went to a party earlier this week to celebrate with Lisa and Donny.

He stayed for one-and-a-quarter hours sitting on a couch the entire time, happily talking to people.

Swayze's wife "mingled a little more than Patrick did, leaving the couch to grab a drink or talk to people, but mostly she remained at his side" a source told the US magazine.

"Patrick let the party-goers come to him, never circulating around the room and rarely even standing up, but when others did come to him, he chatted at length with many of them."

In October, his production team reported Swayze had missed only a day and a half of work.

"I'm still fine to work, I haven't changed - oh, I have changed, what am I saying? It's a battle zone I go through. Chemo, no matter how you cut it, is hell on wheels," he told The New York Times.

You are so right about that. The chance to say goodbye will be a much appreciated gift that will stay forever with his family and friends.

What a shame that he doesn't see Dr Gonzalez in NY.

Gonzalez set out to prove that the natural, non-toxic, cancer therapies of Dr Gerson and Dr Kelly were bogus. He instead became convinced that they work. Very well. Even against advanced aggressive terminal pancreatic cancer.

One of the basic principles was discovered by Beard, a Scottish embryologist from the turn of century before last. (Late 1800s to early 1900s IIRC.) The discovery was IIRC something like this: namely, histologically, tumors and placentas are INDISTIGUISHABLE, AND that across mammalian species thE VERY DAY that the pancreas begins to function, placental growth CEASES. Pancreatin is still available OTC. I use it treat throat cancer. Dr. Gonzales and his collegue (whose name escapes at the moment ) use it as part of their non-toxic regimen to such impressively successful effect among their patients that the NIH has granted him at least two 5 year NIH grants to continue this work.

As a Hospics RN...I had a few pancreatic cancers...mostly up and about with a pump on their belt delivering morphine as needed. They all did fairly well..indeed some felt really strong until the very end...and went downhill overnight and died quickly.

This story is from the National Enquirer, and there's not a single other US publication reporting it that I can find. I'm hoping like hell it's been exaggerated, like the last time it was reported that he was at death's door. Then again, there's not usually a lot of hope from pancreatic cancer.

Ghost is probably one of my favorite movies ever.

Met him for about 5 minutes when he flew onto the set of a movie, Back to the Future III, that I was in as an extra. Hell of a nice guy. Very personable and outgoing..........all, most of all the ladies, were overcome by his grace and class.

Patrick was also filmed in a series called "North and South"

He did a great job.

Sorry he's having such a bad time of it.

One thing that always impressed me about him was his long marriage... a rare thing for Hollywood. We use to laugh and say every woman in America could see herself doing that last dance with him in Dirty Dancing . Prayers being said for Patrick and his family.

in World Without Cancer - the Story of Vitamin B17, author G. Edward Griffin )author of Creature from Jekyl Island, btw..) also discusses the Dr. Beard referred to above. with much more information since discovered that confirms his conclusions.

That's how my neighbor down the street went, about four weeks after diagnosis. As soon as she was diagnosed, she'd chosen hospice. The last we talked was a week before she died. She had a cough that was going around and was still full of her outgoing, life-loving, adventurous, gregarious outlook and sounded a little frustrated that her body was giving out on her. Imagine the frustration when your lawnmower breaks down. What a gal!

Treatment choices are not the same for everyone. Not everyone has the same access. Not everyone has the same starting point. She was 70 and had been frustrated about growing weaker for a couple years. Swayze is young, strong, and has access to the most modern treatments.

I bought all my herbalism books at estate sales a few years back when I was very weak, wobbly and loopy. The widowers gave me pitiful looks. Heroic results are not a strong point of herbalism. The strong point of herbalism is long-term strengthening of our natural disease fighting systems.

It is indeed a grace to know your approximate time and cause of exit. It might be harder to say goodbye for anybody who is relatively secure in this life and has had money, friends, a career, success, hope, and a future.

Death is the Great Leveler, the common fate that comes to all whether good or bad, poor or rich, in the north, south, east west -- the end of the story of this lifetime on this stage.

Except it isn't the end, and all we have ever said, done, felt, imagined, experienced, become, goes with us. The story continues in another place.

Although I don't think he has long anyway. They did get a lot of things wrong in he story. He went to Stanford Medical center, not Stamford. One is in California, one is in Connecticut.

The man is such a good actor and rarely in trouble. He in his wife are a role model for Hollywood couples.

From the looks of his lifestyle, Cascadians, he has shunned the Hollywood lifestyle for a working ranch and country air in which to raise his children, so I don't think he is the material mindset type guy.

He's a hell of a guy. Has worked for years with the Special Olympics.

The world will be a poorer place without him.

Jed T., yes it is. It never ceases to amaze me how nearly universally effective AMA mind control/M.D. worship is - to the point that people only believe AMA oncology myths and utterly dismiss and deny the God-given cures when they are right in front of our faces...

Since I was diagnosed and have sought non-toxic, Godly answers, I have found few like-minded folks like Dr. Lorraine Day ( www.drday.com ) but most folks will argue unto death to follow the M.D. protocols.

Not many in the Hollywood zone are like Patrick Swayze and Paul Newman in that respect. Both are in a league of their own and both gave so much to so many. Its a shame how many good people are taken due to cancer. The last picture I saw of Paul he looked really sick and he died shortly thereafter.I recently saw a photo of Patrick and had the same thoughts.I am glad he is getting a chance to say his goodbyes and have closeness with his wife and family before he goes.He will be missed. We like all his movies that he has done.

I just found out that my Grand Uncle is diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. God help him.

If Swayze can't stop that kind of cancer with all his money buying the finest treatment, doesn't look good for anyone else either.

Patrick learned to skydive at Perris where I jumped and trained a bit. My friends said he was a great guy and they talked very well of him. As a fellow skydiver, I'm very sad for him, but if you know skydivers, we embrace life and know we can go at any time. A lot of us go without getting to say "good-bye," so yes that is a blessing for him.

This type of cancer is so difficult to treat, in part, because by the time the symptoms appear, it almost too late for effective treatment.

My sister's husband died less than a year after diagnosis of pancreatic cancer with mets to the liver. He did great in treatment for 10 months; never lost a single hair off his head and had gone Christmas shopping with my sister a month before he died at home, surrounded by us all who love him still.

HOWEVER, not everyone dies, some DO recover. A small number, I'll admit, but it does happen.

Great Great Grandma!
There are so many possible cures today. I don't understand why he doesn't run down to Mexico and get that cure or like someone else said, go to [FONT=Verdana,Arial]Dr. Gonzales. He could probably afford to do any of them instead of letting the quacks kill him.

I'm glad he is getting to say his final goodbyes, but he shouldn't have to say goodbye with the cures that are available today.

Let's not forget him in Red Dawn! I've played that video over and over over the years. It reminds me of what could happen -- maybe not in exactly the same way -- and keeps me in prepper mode and condition yellow, though I am starting to fade into orange the way things have been going. I think the next attack will be here in the US. (oops..drifting. Sorry)

My oldest was one of the dancers in To Wong Foo..., with Swayze, and reinforced the other stories about what a good guy he is.

You want to see how much acting talent the man has, see Donnie Darko.

There are a good few of them. They just don't get as much publicity.

Jay Leno, Brendan Fraser, Bob Hope, Jimmy Stewart, Mel Gibson, Johnny Depp, Will Smith, Jon Bon Jovi. Goldy Hawn and Kurt Russell, even though they haven't formally married.

Are we sure this is true? Because back at the beginning of the year they were reporting he only had 5 weeks to live!
