Missing El Paso mom allegedly killed by concert date; police charge him with murder

EL PASO, Texas -- A 29-year-old El Paso mother who vanished back in July after going to a concert was allegedly killed by her concert date, although police said Wednesday her body has not been recovered.

Police arrested 28-year old Ricardo Marquez and charged him with the murder of Erika Andrea Gaytan. He was booked Wednesday into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a million dollars bond.

"Her body has not been found, but based on forensic and other evidence gathered over the course of the investigation, detectives have reason to believe that she is deceased and was the victim of a murder," said Sgt. Enrique Carillo.

He did not elaborate on the evidence investigators had gathered, indicate how or when Gaytan died or provide a motive for the killing.

Family and friends of Gaytan said she was last seen on the evening of July 13 or the early morning hours of July 14 after attending a concert at the El Paso County Coliseum with Marquez. He had claimed they parted ways at the Coliseum, where Gaytan reportedly called for an Uber.

Gaytan had a 7-year-old son and family members at the time said she never would have run off and abandoned the boy.

When she disappeared, police initially took a missing person report but didn't suspect foul play. A few days later though, authorities issued a missing person alert to the media calling Gaytan ďendangered" and released a photo of her wearing a white dress and smiling on the night of the concert.

After she had been missing for about a month, police indicated they were following several leads and put out a renewed call to the public to try and locate her, saying, "Due to the amount of time Gaytan has been missing and the circumstances, her disappearance is considered suspicious."

Any bets on whether or not he's wet?
I don't want to. I'm not going to. You can't make me. I'm retired!

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

When you leave the safety of home looking for love, there are all kinds of monsters out there ready to consume you. It's amazing anyone gets up off the couch at all.

It doesn’t matter why you leave the safety of home...there are all kinds of monsters out there...

That’s why, you own, get trained on, and carry a firearm...all the time! Multiple firearms.

If you do date, do it in groups.

If you do date anyone, do a background check on them first. Seriously.

With today’s tools, there are all kinds of programs and services to properly check someone’s background. Any red flags or lies, avoid them and perhaps get a TRO.

Just like with fishing or hunting, go in a group with a trusted partner AND have a detailed plan that you leave with another trusted person....contacts, times, places, etc.

Most dog owners take better care of their dogs in heat better than American men take care of the ladies in their family!

I know feminists make it difficult, if not impossible, but guys, no other decent culture would ever allow their women to go around unescorted and protected like we do...again, I know, I know, they don’t make it easy!

I'm betting they met online on Tinder ( or similar )...

It's a sad situation but some folks are so situationally unaware I can't wrap my mind around it. We have raised a generation of victims...

We have raised a generation of victims...

And a matching generation of predators.

If you have anyone you care about who is not "switched on" enough, give them a copy of this little book for Christmas.

Facing Violence: Preparing for the Unexpected Paperback – May 16, 2011
by Rory Miller author “Meditations on Violence” (Author), Barry Eisler (Foreword)

All of Miller's stuff I have seen (which is most of it that has hit print) is excellent. Period. And I mean excellent. Miller is a knuckledragging corrections officer and martial artist who has a magic way with words. He is a walking talking treasure, and I say that even though I have never met him in person. I do know at least on a casual basis most of the world class self defense trainers at work in the ZUSA today, but I am gun centric in my training pursuits while Miller is more MA (martial arts) centric, and runs with a different crowd. But even so you should know his work and share it, because it is that good.
