    Board performance in various browsers

Over the weekend, in a fit of rage over board performance (or lack thereof), I downloaded the Brave browser. This morning I'm using it for the first time. I was on Safari earlier this morning. I have to say that board performance (at least so far today) using Brave is amazing. Page loads in 2-3 seconds every time. Earlier this morning when using Safari on the iPad, it was still dismal, so I know it's not directly related to removing SSL. (It's been dismal in FF and Opera as well.)

Those of you wanting to try something, anything, to boost performance, might try downloading the Brave browser.

I downloaded the Brave browser. It’s much faster, you are correct. TB2K is still not loading properly on Brave either. I’m sure you are already aware.

I see I was able to post a youtube video on the Doris Day thread. I'm using Firefox. I was surprised to see that it worked!

I'm using Chrome, the only time I had issues was yesterday morning-ish into early evening but my DSL was also being a PITA yestday, end of semester here and everyone is on the internet right now.

Just DL’d Brave using IOS and yes, it’s much quicker and renders better than Safari. Assuming their using prefetching but so far so good.

The last month or so, the page loads were horrible and slow, the worst I've experienced in years. I've been on Firefox all that time.

Now that SSL was dumped, page loads are instant. No change in browser....

Have gone from dialup performance to blazing response seemingly in the millisecond range. Using Edge and Bing.

Seems a lot snappier since SSL was deactivated; been using Firefox the whole time. I have Opera and Chromium (linux Chrome clone). So I'll try them at some point. Did back out and used Konqueror, no problems with it either.

That's a good point. Everytime my internet gets this wonky, though, I blame our war footing or military intrigue.

I haven't had any problems at all with Firefox when everyone else said they did. Running smooth here.

My board speed was much snappier after switching to Brave from Safari recently.

I'm wondering if dumping the SSL, helped out/fixed a lot of the problems we've all been having with the forum? I still haven't had even a hint of any trouble so far today after it was turned off.

What I wrote to our Admin a little while ago:

Now that SSL is off, we are experiencing essentially no lag across all browsers. So I can't help but wonder of the "redirect" to 443 was responsible. (I know it's not really a "redirect", but that term will have to do.) When we get the new software up and running, we'll have to monitor performance closely when we turn it back on.

Firefox and Linux Mint has always worked well for me. My only problems are with a few websites set up by idiots.

I had an older version of Fartfox, it worked fine.

When I changed to the latest, everything went in the crapper.

Some of.that could be that my poor little brainless notebook is just not up to thinking about that many things.

It's working fine with FF. I tried Brave a few years ago and hated it. So, I dumped it and went back to FF. I hate IE too. If FF/Mozilla would just leave things alone, it would probably work even better. Every time they do an update they screw something up........sigh.......that's why I have auto update turned off.

I am using Opera browser and every time I come to the boards main forum, it has me not signed in. I click on a post i always open in a new tab, then it will show me as logged in. There is a glitch somewhere on the forum.

I've been using Brave for at least a year - with their new update, I usually have to reload an extra time. The first time I click on the forum, I get an error message. Second click, it loads just fine.

    1) Try flushing/deleting Opera's cache, THEN, 2) manually delete the old TB2K cookie - cache, THEN cookie - in THAT order - THEN, re-log back into the TB2K server, which will create a fresh, new TB2K cookie.

I got caught in that loop others have talked about - call up the website - not logged in; log in - calls up the TB2K logo front page - click to enter - logged out again.

I don't use chrome or firefox.

Just started today. i was fine earlier.

Tried the clearing cookies and cache - on all 3 browers on my computer (just in case) same problem.

Showed me not logged in and then I'm logged in.

    Weird.

    OK - rechecked.

I log in and click remember me, then I get 'thanks for logging in', then I get over to check my log in and it shows my name and password blank. So I called up a thread and hit reply - I can reply to a post, yet it shows me not logged in. And then I go back up to the top and check the sign in box and there is my name.

So, it's showing me not logged in, and then I really am?? hmmmm.

    I think it's magic.

Yep, just checked again - the box for my name and password is empty, yet I am posting this.

Maybe someone else is having this issue??

It's keeping me signed in even when I X out and call the site back out - yet no name/pw.

    OK with me...just looks odd.

I downloaded Brave about 10 days ago on advice from another thread. It has done a good, fast job and I'm pleased.
The only real problem I've had was uploading identity documents. Edge does a better job.
I especially like the username/ password function.

Figured out what's going on, but don't know why.

I log in, it welcomes me, takes me to the logo page, then the forum. Where I'm not logged in. I can't get to the other various places like the bomb shelter.

If I click on a thread, my name magically appears and I'm logged in - then I can get to the bomb shelter.

Maybe someone else is having a similar issue - if they get to this thread, this info might help.

It's a pain to have to keep clicking around and logging in, but it's doable.

I use Chrome mostly at work. I go to the banner page and then click on the TB2000 banner. When the forum opens up all you see is a white back ground with the threads in blue along with who started them and who last posted. Once I open a thread, it looks like a typical thread page. In Edge, it works fine.

That’s because the “s” is still in the link under the graphic. It’s a manually created page. Just edit the address once th “White” page is showing.
