But, you know how much it costs to WIN?

I use alternates to express some indignation...……..you can fill in the blanks if you wish...….sometimes outrage is just that......and we do have to be judicious how far it goes......I'd rather not see/read vile profanity...….it sticks in your mind and defiles...….alternates vent but not taint IMO

Yep, I noticed. My thought was...well, if you can't spell those words right, you probably aren't being "sensored".

It only works when you spell the word out.

Here **** spelled out, or f//k not spelled out.

    See the difference.

When I am out in the real world and I hear someone gratuitously tossing f-bombs and using "graphic creativity" to discuss … oh say someone's genetics … I usually wind up thinking that the gratuitous cusser is a low-IQ, low-information individual who cusses to drown out the fact they don't actually use their brain for original thinking. They get tuned out and I keep going. On the other hand if someone is able to convey an idea without the need to resort to cussing like Christmas tree ornaments on a conversational tree, then even if our opinions differ I'll at least give them a chance to express themselves and actually hear what they are saying.

C'mon, TB isn't a vacuum. Sometimes it is up at work. Sometimes it is up where the kids, grandkids can see what is being posted. You want to have the right to throw the stinky brown stuff around then those of us within throwing distance should at least have as much right to tone you down to keep us from being splattered. You want impunity and lack of accountability find a different forum to express yourself on and see how long that lasts and how hard it is to build a good reputation sounding like a ghetto snipe.

Is it really that difficult around here to use common courtesy with people you've known this long? Give the mods and everyone else a break. Not all of us feel the driving need (or desire) to cuss like a merchant seaman, nor do we want to listen to it.

I believe we may be discussing the 'censor sensor'. These sensitive detectors are installed on the newest versions of the Slap-Bot.

With a 7-axis Slap-Bot in the house, language is immediately more civil. Moms no longer have to wash out the kid's mouth with soapy products.

Wear and tear on ths "back 'o me hand' is immediately reduced, as the Slap-Bot handles all the stress of slapping the shit out of them.

The Censor-Sensor can also be installed as an upgrade to all existing lie-detector Slap-Bots, making them dual function units.

Operational demo (appears to be public domain, found on several websites...old joke):

A man bought a lie detector Slap-Bot. Every time the Slap-Bot detects a lie, it slaps the liar. He decided to test it at dinner on his son, who he suspected of often lying to him.

DAD:*Son where were you today during school hours?

SON:*At school (Slap-Bot slaps son) ouch! Okay okay, I went to the movies!

    DAD:*Which one?

SON:*Harry Potter*(Slap-Bot slaps son again). Ow!*Okay, jeez -*I was watching an adult movie, okay?

DAD:*What??*When I was your age I didn’t even know those existed! (Slap-Bot slaps Dad)

MOM:*Hahaha! He is your son after all!*

    The Slap-Bot slaps the mother.
It is recommended that a dual-function Slap-Bot be disabled in the presence of shipyard employees, those suffering from Tourette's Syndrome, and any attorneys. Servo axis overloads, amplifier burnouts, and bearing failures will cripple the unit.

In other words, overuse may 'let all the smoke out' that is packaged into every microprocessor.

But I try and keep it to a mininum so as not to offend.

Interesting how it varies , I just finished reading an article where an appellate court rules flipping a bird to a cop is legal protected by first admendment. But in Canada it's illegal to swear at a police officer.

Personally I think swearing has an important value in expression of outrage. Nothing else says so much in expression of disgust or outrage, and most importantly in often a single word!

Hmm. I did not know we were censored. Nor did I fully understand that we were to speak in our dry professional voices of the business conference. I choose to check that voice at the door, as it is not a tool that well meets any of my objectives in this setting.

Here i like to be the quiet unnoticed wait staff who slips amongst the tables keeping coffee cups filled. Rambunctious children well supplied with crayons and colouring books. Paying attention to who needs the box of kleenex within reach, a reassuring pat or quick hug. I use a deliberately casual voice to do so for many reasons, primarily because i do bring myself to this setting as a supplicant and student.

Mostly though it is because many of the tools i rely upon in communication with real people fall into the non verbal side... Its a tad difficult to look into a posters' eyes, judge their body positions and tensions, the timbre and cadence of their voices etc and vice versa in this setting, so i deviate from that dry formal language.

Anyways, what was the question lol?! Oh yes. Censure of certain words. No problem for me. Didn't realize it happened. I DO choose curse words from time to time, usually when i try to convey how vile, base or banal i find something.

Bottom line is i am a guest, here at the whim of the home owner. I abide by the rules as a sign of respect, and when the rules are such an abomination i cannot abide, then i leave.
Thoughts are things. Thus I'm careful of the thoughts I think, & the company I keep.
I myself am entirely made of flaws, stiched together with good intentions.
