FUNG Inquiry: Satellite Images Reveal China Building War Bunkers Near Indian Border..The Mountain...YOYO

    Mon, 01/21/2019 - 15:45

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has constructed a new, underground facility (UGF) about 31 miles from the India-China border, and 37 miles from the Indian Army’s forward posts at Demchok in Ladakh.

According to The Print, satellite imagery identified a deeply buried hardened target (DBHT) under construction outside the town of Ngari, also known as Shiquanhe in Mandarin.

Construction started in December 2016, about six months before the 2017 China–India border standoff near the India-China-Bhutan tri-junction in the east.

The Print, specified that special personnel are being used instead of locals, to maintain secrecy and security of the project.

The UGF appears to have four large tunnel entrances and three small ones; all have hardened entrances with reinforced concrete. Judging by the images, the openings would soon be covered with other material to withstand a direct military strike.

Some of the construction material can be seen outside the entrances, including cement and metals plants sufficient for construction activity inside the tunnels.

The tunneled facility had a support garrison constructed in 2016 and 2017. Another support garrison has just been started, said The Print.

Both the garrisons are close to the main road. Surrounding roads have been widened to allow large transport vehicles to operate safely and smoothly.

Although it is hard to indicate the exact purpose of this facility, these underground bases generally perform numerous strategic functions, such as command and control of military forces, protection of national leadership, WMD production or storage, and ballistic missile production, storage, or launch.

Both countries border one another in two locations, northern India/western China and eastern India/southern China, with constant territorial disputes in both areas.

A hypothetical war between India and China would be catastrophic for the Indo-Pacific region, cause thousands of casualties on both sides and crash the global economy.

With that in mind, the underground military bases near the Indian border shows us that China is preparing for a fight.

Actually it was closer to four years ago, before even the Doklam incident.

China has built several "interesting" facilities in the border region in recent years. However, despite all their work, that whole region from Kashmir all the way across to Arunachal Pradesh is frighteningly-hostile terrain. Even Afghanistan is easier. Any kinetic actions along that border are likely to be small-scale at best, simply because you can't do more. There's no terrain suitable for armor, dismounted troops are going to be straining after even a couple of days of action, helicopters are all but useless, and any incursions in either direction have hundreds of miles to go before they reach anything useful, and that's while trying to maintain a supply train through the most impassable mountains on the face of the globe.

Any real conflict between China and India is either going to be political, with diplomatic wrangling over who has rights to Arunachal or the nub of utterly-barren terrain in the Kashmir region that China desires, or small-scale border spats, or some kind of missile exchange. That said, I guess it's possible those tunnels (they're almost certainly not all connected underground based on the angles they are cut at) are garages for mobile launchers for MRBMs, but again, other than area denial, China really doesn't gain anything other than to stir up antagonism against themselves by trying to provoke India, and they'd be stupid to think that India doesn't have similar launch facilities with some BrahMos vehicles just waiting.

China is also not likely to be done with whatever that is in the next three months, and that's how long they have before the paper tiger Modi gets replaced by someone who isn't the Hindi Barack Obama. Whoever takes the PM office and Minister of Defense in April is likely to have something to say about China conducting this kind of provocative action.

Friend, you cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. And what one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government can't give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody.

There are many routes that are more direct and pass through far less challenging terrain than trying to march up through the Tibetan plateau and then up into the Himalayas.

    ROFLOLTIPMP!!!!!

Not even Hanibal would be able to go through Demchok in Ladakh, UP the Indus River valley, THROUGH NE Pakistan, the CORE of the Karakorams and Himilayas to get to Israel....They call Afghanistan among the most difficult operational environment in the world. And Afghanistan is part of the FOOTHILLS of the Karakorams/Himilayas. Reference to a global topo map will help you to contextualize the magnitude of your error....

I just posted this on a Brexit thread, but thought it might need to be here...

UK to send aircraft carrier to Pacific in show of strength to China

    https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/u...hina-mr93f5dd9

Britain’s new aircraft carrier will be sent to China’s backyard in a show of strength as President Xi’s government increasingly disputes Pacific waters.

Gavin Williamson, the defence secretary, will say today that Britain must be ready “to use hard power” to protect its interests. He will warn that Russia and China are blurring the boundaries between peace and war and declare that Britain must stand up to those who “flout international law”, a principle that “may lead to us intervene ourselves”.

“To talk but fail to act risks our nation being seen as little more than a paper tiger,” he will say.
Um. This is spectacularly dangerous. May is trying to distract from the Brexit fiasco by blustering against the Chinese MILITARILY?! China knows that the UK is at a weak point, what if they decide it's worth the geopolitical risk to sink that ship? Good Lord, May is losing her frikkin mind...

BTW, bonus doom: I think the pilots and aircraft operating on that carrier are US Marines... I'd love to have that confirmed or denied.
