Man fatally shot at end of pursuit on 101 Freeway in Calabasas

    Jan 12, 2019 | 3:40 PM

A man wanted on a warrant was shot and killed Saturday by authorities on the 101 Freeway in Calabasas following a reported domestic violence incident and high-speed pursuit, Ventura County sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies encountered the man after responding to a reported domestic violence incident in Camarillo about 10:30 a.m., said Sgt. Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. While they were investigating the report, they learned that the suspect was wanted for an out-of-state warrant and considered armed and dangerous, Buschow said.

The man’s identity and what he was wanted for were not immediately available.

Deputies planned to arrest the man when he fled in a stolen vehicle, authorities said, and the chase began.

After leading officers to Point Mugu, the man reversed course and got onto the southbound 101 and headed toward Los Angeles, Buschow said. When the man drove onto the highway, the California Highway Patrol got involved.

About 11:20 a.m., the man crashed the vehicle into a guardrail at the southbound Las Virgenes exit in Los Angeles County. CHP officers ordered the man to surrender and kept communicating with him while Ventura County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene.

Sometime between noon and 12:30 p.m., CHP officers and Ventura County sheriff’s deputies opened fire on the man while he was outside the crashed car. He died at the scene, and authorities did not immediately say whether the man had been carrying a weapon.

The incident shut down U.S. 101 in both directions for hours.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will investigate the fatal shooting because it occurred in L.A. County.

Sounds like it, and according to this he was armed. From yesterday:

CALABASAS (CBSLA) — A domestic violence suspect was shot and killed by police at the end of a vehicle pursuit Saturday on the Ventura (101) Freeway in Calabasas, authorities said.

Paramedics were dispatched to the scene on the southbound freeway, north of Las Virgenes Street, at 11:20 a.m. for a “possible DOA,” said Capt. Ron Singleton of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Both sides of the 101 Freeway at Las Virgenes Road in Calabasas were closed Saturday following termination of the pursuit. Traffic was stalled for hours. Southbound lanes were expected to reopen at 2 a.m. Sunday.

The police chase ended in the armed standoff.

The California Highway Patrol announced the shutdown shortly after 11:30 a.m. in a tweet.

The pursuit started, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies say, after they got called to a home in Camarillo Saturday morning.

While they were there, they say the suspect took off.

CHP and Ventura County deputies faced off against the domestic violence suspect.

“It was really scary,” said witness Angel Tamayo.

Hundreds of halted drivers on the 101 watched the drama play out in the middle of the freeway.

“We were afraid because we knew he was armed,” said witness Lacey Butler.

Deputies and then CHP had followed the suspect from Camarillo to the 101 where he crashed just past the Las Virgenes exit.

Witnesses described the suspect as pacing back and forth.

Witnesses said they heard law enforcement trying to reason with him for a half-an-hour.

Deputies have not said yet what led to the shooting. Whether the suspect fired first or at all. They did say that no officers were hurt.

They also added that the suspect was wanted in another state and was considered armed and dangerous at the time of the shooting.

Not only domestic violence suspect, not only wanted for some other thing, Also a car thief and resisting arrest to just start with the potential charges, and if anyone had died in the car chase then murder could have been added.

Contempt for the law, the authorities, the rights and property of other people, contempt for human life and law and order must be squashed in any society that hopes to survive.
Apart from the God of the Bible, who made everything and everyone, there is utterly NOTHING that can be made “SUSTAINABLE” by the efforts of godless men. It is God who sustains.
