Somewhere tucked nearly out of sight in this thread, was the clarification that snap wouldn't be affected, but other nutritional subsidation might be. I guess that even in today's America, no one will be allowed to starve to death.

If we do go back to 2008 or worse, it definitely won't be just some group of permanent thug oriented underclass using snap. Elderly, disabled, unemployed and of a certain age...

I would love to see commodity based assistance again, based on healthy food pyramid, and including neighborhood gardens, cooking videos etc. Everyone would benefit, except the system itself, I suppose, which must be benefiting from the current state of affairs, or else they'd not be permitted to be.

I have personally executed narcotics search warrants on hundreds of homes of Africans here in FL. Exactly two of them had more than one days worth of food in the house, and only one had more than a weeks worth. They typically have one to six foam take out boxes in the refrigerator with natty ice and a half full bottle of Hennessy Cognac in the freezer. They would commonly have 1 to 2 dozen pairs of Air Jordans in the closet or Nikes, a flat screen TV in every room including he garage with an X Box attached to each one and an extensive collection of porn. Their babbymommas all have four or five EBT cards from their drug customers that they use to buy steak and shrimp for the cook outs.

Without EBT cards many addicts would be cut off. They would have steal even more than they already do to support their habit. The Gibmedats would go shopping anyway and just run out with the food because it is owed to them.

If there is any chance this may actually happen, do all of your shopping for the month several days before the date of the first missed "Payment" . Don't be caught in a Wal Mart or similar, it may no end well.

Conservatives should to borrow a page out of the Marxist playbook, and bus would-be rent-a-rioters directly to the homes of recalcitrant politicians/judicial enablers and decision-makers of all ilks - confront them in the halls of Congress, like the protestors did to Jeff Flake and others, during the Kavanaugh hearings - always bring the conservative "alternative" media along for the ride, since the MSM would likely refuse to cover such, or at best would report fake news.

    Sounds like a plan, Stan.

Who do people think the intended audience of the op is? What is the intent of the op?

I think the target audience is those the oligarchs and deep state would like to have run out and riot.

I think they are intending to turn the underclass against Trump and the deplorables with the story.

Fear is the intent. It's basis in reality is irrelevant.

They want results. The oligarchs and uniparty deep state meat puppets want fear to reign, they want violence, they want to stoke the fires of hate.

Stable, logical, unified, rational people are much harder to control and hold in place as they raped and robbed blind and eliminated than those who are hate filled, enraged, and panicked.

This is about fomenting the same political violence we have been subjected to since '15.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

They want us all dead, and want take all we have.

This social engineering endeavor is about bringing that end.

All I can say is keep that b*tch shut down.

Food stamps are a help; they are not a means to an end. You use them when you need them, then move on when your situation gets better. At least that's how mama did it when we were little.

Playing this as the "Trump card" on the part of the democrats isn't very bright-people will realize at some point that the shutdown wouldn't be happening if the Dems get off their butts and fund the wall. That's the one thing shutting the govt. down. Democrat intransigence.

When people are hungry they will get off their butts and take one of the abundant selection of open jobs in the US currently. The unintended consequence in this instance may be people FINALLY realizing they have to work and make an honest living to get by. Initially there may be violence but honestly I doubt it. People may realize being responsible for themselves and their families, not depending on a govt. handout may be President Trump's end game here.

I for one applaud the decision to keep the whiny govt. b*tches out of work. They can support the "resist Trump" movement all they want to-when the bills come due for the huge houses and fancy cars maybe they will feel a little of the pain Joe Sixpack felt during Osama's dynasty.

If you remember Hurricane Sandy up in New York City a few years ago, you will also remember the scenes of Manhattan Island's dwellers pawing through dipsty dumpsters within 24 hours of storm impact on Lower Battery Park.

Personally, I always use up my SNAP benefits within 3 to 5 days after I get them on the 4th. In fact, I use nearly one half of them on the 4th itself. Further, I can easily last one month without going to the store. Assuming I get them on January 4th, which I do, and I spend them before the 9th, which I will, then I am golden. I am always amazed that people like this have NO Food in their apartments at all. I spend $10, one dollar each, for 10 cans of Refried Beans, or others like Pinto or whatever, plus some Tabasco Sauce, some wheat tortillas, 2 pound of Cheddar Cheese and that alone will feed me for nearly two weeks. The total of all that is around $10, plus $6 for the cheese, on sale, $5 for a large Tabasco jar, $6 for two tortilla packages: The total is roughly $30 without anything to drink. Of course, Nowski I have stood behind a fat ass Sambo "mother," with her two Welfare Brats, buying $100 worth of Soft Drinks, Potato Chips, White bread, and assorted candy, etc etc, with not one item of any nutritional value, and yeah they are going to be starving within 24 hours.

I'm sorry, but there is no reason for anybody who has food stamps to go hungry, given even a minimum of functional brain cells.

By this time in American History, anybody who runs out of food within 24 hours of anything happening, I have ZERO patience for.

I get a little more tha DD, and have enough food for a couple of months.

I was told by a worker at a food bank that the gov figures that an EBT card is good for three weeks worth of food, and that the food bank is good for about three days worth of food. In my experience, that holds true if you buy boxes and and other prepared foods. If you cook from scratch, an EBT card is more than a months worth of food by quite a bit.

I help at a food bank, and the range of people who get food varies from tweakers, to retired folk, to working poor. The food also varies from week to week, but is generally fairly healthy. Because I eat Keto, my main complaint is the lack of healthy fats.

Because I have lived a low income life, I get to see a range of people are on the low income scale. Some are hard working, who never got a break, and others who figure that they are owed a comfortable life. The range of ingenuity also varies a lot. I have learned to be careful about judging because I have been mistaken more than once.

Reduced to its simplest terms, this is an easy equation. Since the '60s riots, the Federal Government has had an unspoken (though hardly secret to those with eyes to see) deal with the inner-city African populations: You don't burn the cities down and we'll give you free monthly goodies. This forms the economic bedrock of the inner-city populations. The governments - both federal and state - will go to almost any length to maintain this status quo. If and when it ever breaks down (and it will at some point), the hammer will truly come down with blinding speed.

    Best regards

What seems to be happening on numerous fronts is the long-time status quo is getting taken to the chopping block abruptly.

Several things, rights or wrongs, have been allowed/permitted for a long time, and now one by one, things are being cut off.

Sounds like there's many crises that better not be allowed to go to waste.

    hmmmmm.

The big mistake here was encouraging them to breed unchecked.
You can’t call it anything else, more kids more money, absent father saves him money, gives babymommy more money. Anybody supported by the .gov should have some kind of responsibility foisted on them.

Does anyone really believe that a government shut down will actually stop SNAP, WIC and EBT payments? I don't, those programs already have their funding and the GAO already has the OMB numbers. It's all bread and circuses.

It was in my local paper that SNAP is funded through January, but if the shutdown continues...well, here is one story on it (like the OP claims):

SNAP funding may lapse if government shutdown is not soon resolved

As a partial government shutdown enters its second week with no clear end in sight, tensions are high for many.

AP funding may lapse if government shutdown is not soon resolved

BOISE, ID — As a partial government shutdown enters its second week with no clear end in sight, tensions are high for many, including the nearly 150,000 Idahoans who depend on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program -- otherwise known as "SNAP" or "food stamps."

"In some cases, they're elderly or disabled-- they're not able to work, and they need that food assistance always," said Karen Vauk, President and CEO, Idaho Foodbank.

A recent statement by the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture said eligible households will still receive monthly SNAP benefits for January. But if the government is still shut down on February 1-- what happens then?

Vauk says the prospect of no SNAP program for Idahoans is dire.

"To have that removed doesn't affect just a few people-- it affects thousands of people and in a significant way."

And while the Foodbank generally provides extra-supplemental assistance for snap participants, she says, "We cannot fill the whole gap. We'd have to increase our program 12x in order to get to the level and volume of support that's provided to SNAP."

And while we're on the topic of food insecurity, Vauk has a message for the nearly 15,000 federal employees in Idaho who may be scrutinizing their budgets.

"On our website-- which is idahofoodbank.org -- you can go to the '"get food" button and you'll find a list of all of the locations-- statewide, by zipcode-- where you can find a food pantry or a source where you'll be able to get the food that you need."

I don't think it's about "funding", but more like administration of the program. You need people to do that, and if they're deemed to be nonessential and stay home, nothing will get done.

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Commodity Supplemental Food Program, WIC - Why don't they just announce that everyone has to reapply due to a break in continual services due to the shutdown? Let's see how many we can cull from the rolls right there - and then start weeding out those who can't afford "food" but can afford a cell phone, big screen TV, or has five children with four fathers (three of which are out of the country and unable to provide DNA)....

Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations - When will we wake up and stop just blindly give our resources to Native Americans? This is one of the biggest fiscal boondoggles Washington has perpetuated...show me one tribe with a casino that still NEEDS federal assistance for ANYTHING - and if they claim they do, then make them open their books and make it a NEEDS-based request, not a RACIALLY-based hand-me-out...
