2 Horror show: Sodus, NY father wins the battle but loses the war.

I thought I posted about this double murder last month when it happened, but a search says no. Anyway, what happened was a young couple with a baby in the car (their own) was murdered in their driveway. Sodus is on the lake down the road from me.

Turns out the guy's ex, mother of two of his kids, her current husband, a police chief; and a cop friend killed them both. She had just lost custody of the two kids. Talk about monsters, eh?

    November 8, 2018

Sodus, N.Y. (WHAM) - One of the three people charged in connection to the murders of a Sodus couple last month had her case moved up to a grand jury.

During a hearing in Sodus Town Court Thursday morning, Charlene Childers faced conspiracy and weapons charges.

Before the shootings, Childers had just lost custody of her two children to Joshua Niles, who was their father. Niles and Amber Washburn, Niles' fiancee, were shot and killed in front of their home in Sodus on October 22. Investigators believe Childers' current husband, Timothy Dean, was the one who pulled the trigger in the shootings.

Wayne County Sheriff's investigators say Childers was in Texas at the time of the shootings. However, they allege that Childers conspired with Dean to kill the two. A third person, Bron Bohler, is also accused of conspiring with the couple in the plot.

Dean was the police chief for the town of Sunray, Texas. Bohler was a police officer in the department. Both are currently awaiting extradition from a jail in Texas to Wayne County.

Third person charged in Sodus double murder

    Updated: Nov 07, 2018 03:35 PM EST

SODUS, NY (WROC) - Another person has been arrested in connection to the murder of a young Sodus couple last month.

Thirty-four-year-old Bron Bohlar is charged with conspiracy related to the murders. He is being held in Dumas, Texas awaiting extradition to Wayne County.

Deputies say Bohlar, a police officer, was complicit in the planning of the murder of Joshua Niles and Amber Washburn. His arrest follows the arrest of Niles' ex-wife Charlene Childers and her current husband Timothy Dean.

Dean was was the police chief for the Sunray Police Department. We're told Bohlar served in the same department.

Deputies say a custody dispute was likely at the motive behind the shooting.

Niles and Washburn were killed on October 22 when deputies say Dean opened fire in broad daylight on Carlton Street in Sodus. Witnesses said the suspect fired shots at Niles outside the couples home before shooting Washburn inside her vehicle.

Childers and Dean were arrested in the days following the murder on charges of child abuse. This week, they were charged with murder in the case.

Three very stupid criminals; bet they all 3 get life without parole. And now there's 3 orphaned kids too:

Grand jury to get case of woman charged in Sodus double homicide

    Updated 5:14 p.m. ET Nov. 8, 2018

A Wayne County grand jury will hear the case against Charlene Childers, who is accused of playing a role in the deaths of two Sodus residents last month.

Joshua Niles, 28, and Amber Washburn, 24, were fatally shot outside their home in the village of Sodus on Oct. 22.

On Monday, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office announced the arrests of Childers, 25, and her husband, Timothy Dean, 32. Childers, who is the mother of Niles' two oldest children, has been charged with second-degree conspiracy and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled in Sodus Town Court on Wednesday morning, but a Wayne County grand jury has heard evidence and voted an indictment to refer the case to grand jury, said Christine Callanan, Wayne County second assistant district attorney.

Childers' case will be heard by a county or state Supreme Court judge in Wayne County at a later date that has not yet been decided, Callanan said.

Childers arrived at Town Court dressed in a navy jumpsuit just before 10 a.m., and sat in the courtroom for almost an hour before her attorney, Tyson Blue, arrived. While she waited, she sat still and silently showing little emotion.

Childers' bail remains at $100,000 cash or $200,000 bond, Putnam said in court.

On Wednesday, authorities announced a third arrest in the case and charged Bron Bohlar, 34, with second-degree conspiracy, a felony.

Dean has been charged with one count each of first-degree murder and second-degree conspiracy and two counts each of second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. All are felonies.

He and Bohlar were both arrested in Moore County, Texas. Callanan said they will be transported to Wayne County in the next 90 days.

"It's still an ongoing investigation, as you can tell, with more defendants and charges coming," Callanan said. "What (Childers has) been charged with thus far doesn't mean that those are the only charges she would face."
    9mm weapon

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office alleges in a criminal complaint that Childers was in possession of a 9mm pistol at 215 Walker St. in Palmyra on Oct. 23, a day after the shooting. Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts said a 9mm weapon was used to kill Niles and Washburn.

Bohlar is accused of conspiring \with Dean and Childers to commit murder several days before the shooting happened, according to a criminal complaint from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department.

"Bron C. Bohlar did talk to Timothy P. Dean and Charlene Childers about killing Joshua E. Niles while in the garage at Dean's residence," the complaint alleges. "Bron C. Bohlar helped Timothy Dean rent a vehicle for him to drive to New York to kill Joshua E. Niles."

The complaint also alleges Bohlar put the rental vehicle in his own name, and that when Dean had an accident in the vehicle in Kansas, he rented a new one and continued driving to Sodus.

"Dean rented a car in Kansas and drove that car to Sodus, New York and shot and killed Joshua E. Niles on 10/22/18 at 2:07pm," the complaint alleges.

The information in the complaint comes, in part, from statements taken from both Childers and Bohlar, the complaint says.

"It's our belief that Dean pulled the trigger," Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts said at a press conference in Lyons Monday night.

Dean is the former police chief of a three-person department in the Texas Panhandle city of Sunray, which has less than 2,000 residents, according to 2010 census data.

He was arrested in May on one charge of injury to a child, a third-degree felony, after that state's Child Protective Services contacted Texas Rangers requesting an investigation. Dean resigned a month later. Bohlar is also a Sunray police officer.

Dean was arrested on Oct. 29 in Texas on charges stemming from that initial arrest in May. Childers was also arrested on Oct. 29 in Wayne County on a warrant out of Texas that alleged third-degree felony injury to a child. When the charges were announced Monday night, both were already in police custody in Wayne County and Moore County, Texas, respectively.

Friends and relatives said Niles had recently won custody of his and Childers' 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son, who are students in the Sodus Central School District. Washburn and Niles also have a 4-year-old son who was in the car when the shooting occurred.

Investigators are still trying to learn details of Childers' and Dean's travels before the shooting, but police have said they believe Childers was in Texas when it occurred, despite her attendance at a vigil for the victims held in Sodus two days after the slayings.

"We have no indication that she was in our jurisdiction on the date of the shooting," Wayne County District Attorney Michael Caralco said.

But why won't all these childish white men get married any more??

This might be part of why.

A good find, MzKitty, but a disaster of an event described herein.

The problem being that there's no real way to tell in advance which exes will be psycho monsters and which ones won't.

Those of us who have been taught by world class defensive firearms trainers have had it hammered into us for years that we must be ready to 'flip that switch' on demand. This goes back for decades - https://www.amazon.com/Principles-Pe.../dp/1581604955

    Grandma sez-
Actually, there is more to this story than meets the eye.

    DO THE NUMBERS.
Childers and the slain man’s (28) eldest child, a daughter, is NINE now, momma is 25.

So, The slain man was 19 when he knocked up Childers, in a statutory rape situation, when she may have been as young as 15. She had the baby at 16, and he did it again when he was 21, giving her another child, a son, by the age of 18.

Apparantly, he did not marry her, nor was he prosecuted for statutory rape/child molestation.

So, child custody may not be the only thing coloring the rage here.
