    5 Where's MzKitty?

Maybe I've missed something, but it looks like she last posted on 7/29. Almost two weeks ago.

Has anyone heard from her? I hope she's just taking a break.

    Love ya, MzK!

Well, she was online shortly after midnight. Hopefully shes fine, just busy or recharging for a bit. I don't know how she does it!

I'm OK. But I'm trying to save up to pay for the 20% of my cataract surgery that I have to pay upfront (nobody told me until I had already made the appointments, so I had to cancel them). Can't see very well, right eye especially, so I just look in here but can't post much at the moment. It will be a few months at least.

    Thanks for asking.

Ms Kitty, if it's being done at strong or general you can qualify for either charity care (strong) or community care. I think you're on the same boat as us financially, and we qualified for 100%. Hubby had his cataract done at strong and they did a great job. PM me for more info ok.

Here's some more prayers from me for ample financing and rapid recovery.

You have a little gray tabby kitten named after you. She wandered up on our porch last month and survived outside until we could catch her. We live in the very center of a large platte behind a fence and a locked gate. No neighbors. The only way she could have gotten here and survived that journey as a kitten is she was Placed on that porch. A Gift.

She went from being an outside feral to 'stroke here, Mommy' instantly. She doesn't claw or scratch me. She nibbles lightly in affection. She purrs a lot. Her eyes are an irridescent mix of light peridot green and amber. She just had her first vet visit (loved the cat carrier I put her in) and she is 2.6 pounds. That is double what she was when I dropped a bath towel on her.

I detest cats. And I fell instantly and hard for this little scrap. When I said, Well, hi there, Miss Kitty, she licked me on the nose. So that's her name. I hope you don't mind.

Not to be a complete jackass, but maybe we could help around here. Pass the hat. I haven't priced cataract surgery lately so I wouldn't know how much you were facing.

Mzkitty, I had cataract surgery - which I had to pay for out-of-pocket - and it was worth every penny. I went from having marginal sight (which would not have passed a drivers license test) to having better than 20/20 vision. Good luck to you. I'm sure you will appreciate the results.

Edited to add: As I have no insurance, I was able to negotiate a cash deal with my surgeon. He was very kind and did the work on both eyes for roughly half of the normal cost. Even then, I couldn't afford to have both eyes done at once and had to stagger the procedures over the course of a year. If money is tight (which it seems to be for everyone these days), you might see if your doctor will work with you on the costs like mine did.

    Best regards
    Doc

The hat has been passed before, and I'd be happy to help MzK.

If you haven't PM'd Dennis, let me know and I will.

Don't matter to me who starts it off. Figured maybe MzKitty would want right of refusal on it.

Thanks, everyone. Based on what Redcat says, there are a couple of phone calls I can make today. I'm just really tired of all this financial morass we've been in the past few years since my son got sick and can't work. He finally got a disability hearing but it's not until late October, and of course there's no guarantees there either. I hate to be a beggar, even though a couple of kind people did help me out some when i had my heart surgery a few years ago (due to not having a car to get around). I never thought my life would end up like this. I guess none of us do. There are a lot of people here who have been though the mill, and it's tragic too. It shouldn't be like this but it is, so that's the fact. Anyhow, I'll make the phone calls and see what's happening before I ask you all for anything.

Praying for you also. Around here we have some churches that offer financial help for medical bills, you could check into what services may be near you. Hubby was extremely near sighted all his life but got distance lenses when he had his cataracts done and only needs $1. readers. He is so happy.

Guys -- I'm not sure anybody should do anything for me yet, as I said I don't want to be a beggar. I'm still in reflective mode on everything, and have just been resting a lot. The pressure is hard. I may wait until I see if my son gets his disability in October, because then there shouldn't be a need to ask you all for anything. He saw his lawyer earlier this week, and the lawyer predicts good news on an expedited basis. But again, you never know for sure. Besides, I am on certain programs, and if those programs ever found out you gave me anything it could really screw me up. So, again, don't do anything yet. They get you coming and going. I'm around, but my energy level is just zilch at the moment.
