I respectfully disagree. I lived in Coconut Grove (Miami) during those days and remember being afraid to be on the streets at night. We had a LEO friend patrolling my parents' street because of the Black Panther activity at the time. However, I NEVER heard anyone openly say they wanted to kill the president. Had that happened, that sorry person would have been hauled off to jail.

Things were horrible then and we honestly thought the country would break apart but I do not recall the seething, unexplained hatred of one man, the president. Yes they were angry with President Johnson and the Viet Nam war but you would never have heard J6P, let alone activists, casually mention killing the president.

IMHO, things are much worse now.

I believe the same. People seem to have lost their sense of decorum.
