My contract is over Sept 1st - UPDATE, post 82

I’m kicking my job search into overdrive as of yesterday. If anyone feels motivated to send positive thoughts my way, I’d be grateful. It’s been a good run and they paid well.

Dennis, if you can oversee this motley group of deplorables here I would think you've got skills to spare for potential employers to use. Good luck.

Is it possible the company will need people for training and expanding/overseeing the programming?

Wish you could give the local computer nerds in the Cushing Ok. Area some compitition. Seems they have a lock on most of the work in this oil rich area, they are building and growing bigly....https://m.facebook.com/beasleytech

Seen them grow from a little shop to three buildings, one a whole complex in the last decade.

No. I was responsible for two issues: maintaining the legacy applications until go-live, and data transform and migration to the new system. The UI has had a dedicated team on its development for nearly two years.

Prayers sent for a quick profitable job to head your way. I know how unemployment feels-takes the steam right out of a man. But chin up-that next great job is around the corner.

Take a look at USAjobs.gov and see if there's anything contract or full time with any agency. I'm thinking there has to be some agency in the Austin area that needs an experienced IT guy-or some agency that needs an experienced IT guy that the job allows telecommuting. Or, pick up something permanent up here in ground zero. There's always the threat of nuclear incineration, but the govt. jobs pay very well And I know Hairy and your other dog would love walking around the White House and growling at the protesters there. Hehehe....Take a look at the company SAIC-they are going bonkers here hiring folks.

I'll keep my ear on the ground with some of my local folks-if I hear of anything that might interest you.

Here's what I pulled up on USAjobs.gov for IT and Austin, TX. Oh yeah there's work out there!

That’s pretty funny. You must not know what software developers make (heh). Let’s just say that’s a tad on the low side...

Sending prayers your way Dennis. For an economy that is supposed to be so strong and hearing how technology professionals are so sorely needed, why are so many US technology specialist having a hard time finding permanent work? You are definitely not the only one I know.

i'm noticing a huge uptick in IT requirements lately. all over the country. i think it has to do with the cutback in H1B visas.

We have 269 openings here in my office. Most are IT, most pay $80K to $130K. 10% 401K match. Generally good benefits. Interesting projects. You would likely have to move though in specific instances we do have remote workers. Work from home when you need to is usually not an issue.
