Woman arrested for arson and animal cruelty

TUCSON, Ariz. - Police arrested a woman last week for intentionally setting a dog on fire.

According to the Tucson Police Department, the incident happened on May 7, 2018, around 12:49 p.m. at a home near Kolb and Stella.

TFD was first on the scene after reports were made that flames were coming from the home. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire and keep it from spreading to the exterior. TFD says that one teenage resident suffered minor injuries and the family dog was transported to Valley Animal Hospital.

Officers arrived on scene and learned that one adult female resident, 39-year-old Dean Sherfield Finley, intentionally set fire to the family dog and the home.

After an investigation, detectives learned Finley purchased two gallons of gasoline earlier that day and returned home. TPD says a family member noticed the dog was "wet" and as they went to pick it up, Finley lit the dog on fire and then lit a corner of the residence on fire.

Finley was arrested for arson of an occupied structure, criminal damage, and animal cruelty.

The dog, whose name is Lovely, has since been transferred to the Pima Animal Care Center. PACC says they are working around-the-clock to help her heal.

Lovely has a whole team of lifesavers behind her, said PACC Director Kristen Auerbach. This little dog has a tragic story and potentially life-threatening injuries, but we’re going to do everything we can to save her and show her she is loved.

PACC says if Lovely reaches stable condition, she will soon need a foster parent who can give her a comfortable place to heal.

For more information on how to help Lovey and other pets like her, visit PACC's non-profit partner, the Friends of Pima Animal Care Center.

One article that I read said that the perp poured 2 gallons of gas on the unfortunate dog. The savage significantly burned her apartment. Unbelievable

One error in the above story...

"PACC says if Lovely reaches stable condition, she will soon need a foster parent who can give her a comfortable place to heal."

Not possible. Children have parents; animals have owners.
Anyone confused on such a basic point of fact really shouldn't be publishing articles on related subjects.

That said, of course the featured jigaboo is surplus, and should be sent back to Africa ASAP, very possibly as smoke. Still, I find the intentional arson of an occupied structure to be infinitely more egregious. While the severe, apparently unwarranted animal cruelty is execrable, what is arguably attempted murder against human beings is a crime that is different in kind, not just degree, and merits every sanction the criminal justice system possesses.

I'm sorry, but we call our dogs, our furkids.

To us they are members of our family.

We’ve had that argument before. The term is entirely subjective, depending on the person. Let it go. You can’t win this.

MS is not a kind hearted man and we have known that for years now. Why bother? While we care about our furkids, he doesn't much care about anyone but himself. And that's a fact.

Genetically descended from which side, Genny?

You are simply in error here.

    From Liberalpedia:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family

"In the context of human society, a family (from Latin: familia) is a group of people related either by consanguinity (by recognized birth), affinity (by marriage or other relationship), or co-residence (as implied by the etymology of the English word "family"from Latin familia 'family servants, domestics collectively, the servants in a household,' thus also 'members of a household, the estate, property; the household, including relatives and servants,' abstract noun formed from famulus 'servant, slave [...]'[1]) or some combination of these.[citation needed] Members of the immediate family may include spouses, parents, brothers, sisters, sons, and daughters[citation needed]. Members of the extended family may include grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and siblings-in-law[citation needed]. Sometimes these are also considered members of the immediate family, depending on an individual's specific relationship with them"

    Definition of "kids":

    From http://www.dictionary.com/browse/kids?s=t

    "noun

    1) Informal. a child or young person.

    2) (used as a familiar form of address.)

    3) a young goat.

    4) leather made from the skin of a kid or goat, used in making shoes and gloves.

    5) a glove made from this leather."

I understand goats have HAIR, not fur.

So, unless you are talking a human with hypertrichosis who is closely connected to you by genetics, marriage, or adoption, you are simply wrong. It is quite simply impossible for any person to have "furkids". Your opinion appears to me to be based in emotion, not in facts. (An honest person normally changes their position when it is unambigously demonstrated to be in error, BTW.)

MS, you are not considering the fact that for many people, emotional attachment + living in their home = family. This can also be applied to a spouse, since they’re only a family member by marriage, not by blood. Your definition is monochromatic and too exclusionary. And you absolutely, positively, CANNOT WIN THE POINT.

My suggestion is to give it up.

Not necessarily true. There are “book facts” (of which you have always had an enviable mastery), and “life facts” (which seem to have consistently escaped your understanding over the years.) “Life facts” are actually more important to people than “book facts.” The former are employed every day, while the latter are employed only in debate or academe. You really need to understand this difference.

We should all pray for that little furkid. Pray that she has a speedy recovery, and that she ends up in a new, loving family.

I pray that the demon that did this, ends up the same way !!!

Small dog dies days after being doused with gasoline, set on fire by owner

    8:48 AM EDT May 21, 2018

    TUCSON, Ariz. —

A small dog that was doused with gasoline and intentionally set on fire almost two weeks ago in Tucson has died.

Pima Animal Care Center officials say the Chihuahua mix named Lovely went into cardiac arrest and died Sunday, despite vets' best effort to save her.

"Our hearts are breaking," a post on the shelter's Facebook page reads. "We are only comforted by the fact that she died knowing she was loved, not just by all of us but by the thousands of people who sent in donations, messages of love and support and who were rooting for our sweet girl. There are no words to describe how we all feel today or how humbled and grateful we are to our community who showed an unbelievable amount of love and care for this little dog."

They said the animal had only about a 50 percent chance of surviving her injuries.

Tucson police arrested 39-year-old Dean Sherfield Finley on May 7 after she allegedly bought two gallons of gasoline and returned home.

A family member noticed the dog was wet and went to pick the animal up when Finley allegedly lit the dog on fire along with a corner of the home.

Finley remains jailed on suspicion of arson of an occupied structure, criminal damage and animal cruelty.

It was unclear Sunday if she has a lawyer.

That maggot will do the same thing if she ever gets out of prison. Obviously, there is at least one witness to her cruelty and arson and attempted murder.
