Suspect Allegedly Hits Elderly Concealed Carry Permit Holder with Stick, Gets Shot Three Times

A 73-year-old concealed carry permit holder shot a 22-year-old suspect three times Thursday morning in Fresno, California, after the suspect allegedly attacked the permit holder with a stick.

Your Central Valley reports that the permit holder was taking his normal, early morning walk along a canal when the suspect approached and a “verbal confrontation” ensued.

Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer said the confrontation escalated when the suspect allegedly “picked up a large stick or wooden object” and struck the 73-year-old. The elderly man pulled a handgun and shot the suspect three times in response.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for gunshot wounds, while the elderly man was taken to be treated for the wounds sustained after being hit with the stick.

Chief Dyer said preliminary investigation results point to the elderly man being justified in shooting the suspect.

he outta bronze the stick and put it out front of his place as a decoration, preferably with the sob's head impaled upon it.

Shouldn't that be "allegedly shoots" the allegedly stick wielding attacker? Always give the attacker the benefit of any doubt because it's probably the victim's fault for being on the alleged attacker's turf. / sarc

Yep. An old man can't fight, can't run away so he'll just shoot you. A lesson the attacker learned the hard way.

A free gift of ammo and range time would be appropriate for the old man.
    He needs more practice.

Still it speaks well of the old man, that after being struck (who knows how many times and injured) he was able to draw his gun and get off several shots without having the gun taken away.

I didn't know 73 was considered 'elderly.' But, Hee-haw....don't mess with old men. Or old women.
