4 Hermione gets some snow for the last time

It’s cold, blustery and snowing here on the outskirts of Austin. Because of how rare this is, I took Hermione out in the back yard so she could feel the snow on her face one last time. I don’t even know if she remembers snow, but she seemed to like it. Aja didn’t know what to do of course. I’m sure it won’t stick, but kinda hope it lasts until daylight tomorrow so she can see to play in it some.

From God to my pup, a gift.

    Thank you....

Cold front is moving in for the eastern states and their calling for snow here for saturday night, but they can't seem to makeup their minds if we're getting it or not as the forecast keeps changing every 12 hours.
So for the next few nights we're looking at below freezing temp and its about time.

National Weather Service is showing most of the deep south states under a freeze warning this is including as far west to Texas.

Like I said, if you live here long enough, you will see it all.

    BTW, my dogs hate it!

Many years ago I had a pure-blood Samoyed and she would buzz around the yard in the snow deliriously like a kid on Christmas morning. It was her natural habitat.

Weather guys kept showing last night that we were getting light snow, but we never saw any. Had a thin layer of ice on the water troughs this morning, nothing the cows couldn't handle but we broke it up anyhow. We're sitting at 31 now, were supposed to get down into the 20s. We'll keep dripping the faucets for a while longer. The sun is trying to break through, that would be nice!

Woke up to about 3 inches up here. Looks like Dec is here. Been pretty sparse so far but since yesterday it's winter now. The dogs both love it. Me not so much, but we are used to it as are the locals. Did have a car flip and go 100 yrds into the ditch/woods last night. OUI they said. Stupid to drive drunk when you have a whiteout going.

Glad your princess got to see snow again. You too. I know you miss it.

Snow in Corpus Christie last night. That’s incredible! Corpus is right on the Gulf, and about as far south as you can get.

Anyway, I have pics of Aja and Hermione in the snow. I’ll post them up later.

It's better to keep most southerners off the road, we don't know much about driving on ice. I'm glad you finally got a taste of winter weather.

South Louisiana got snow but as far as I know we did not up here in the north, but what do I know I'm stuck in a hospital room with dh.

It's true. Even here in Michigan it takes a bit of time to get your snow-legs again and learn how to drive on slick pavement. Imagine what it's like for people who barely know what snow is.

True to an extent. I was in Kansas in '84 shortly after graduating and buying my own car and learned how to drive in really crappy conditions-like driving on a skating rink.

I got back to Texas and the following Winter was on horse farm and it frosted over one day-they shut down the city [[Austin]] and the Interstates. Was nice driving around and having the roads to myself so I could do donuts and such in the middle of I-35 in my CJ.

That said I noticed, living in Florida, the Snowbirds do not seem to know Jack Schitz about driving period. One example-four lane highway with a center turn lane. Some idiot from NY decided they need to take a left into a shopping center-so they made their turn from the far right side of the road, stopped blocking the right, left and turn lane to wait for traffic.

That's just one of many examples.
