Corporate America Is Flush With Record $2.4 Trillion in Cash
The mountain of money begs the question of how it will be used
    By Sho Chandra

Corporate America has a mound of money that begs the question: Where will it go? Non-financial companies’ liquid assets, which include hard currency, foreign deposits, money-market and mutual-fund shares, reached a record $2.4 trillion in the third quarter, Federal Reserve data showed Thursday. Flush with cash, businesses now also stand to gain from a reduction in the corporate-tax rate to 20 percent, if a tax-overhaul plan in Congress gets signed into law. They could use the money toward investment, hiring, acquisitions, share buybacks and dividends, or just hoard it.

But if they get a tax cut, then their hearts will be filled with generosity and give the workers a raise out of the goodness of their hearts.

I'm probably going to get accused of being a communist writing this, but I'm not. I'm just trying to point out the irony. And, no, if government gets a hold of it the money would be skimmed and wasted.

The record cash buildup occurred with the high tax in place under obamanation's watch..... all while wages have stagnated. Seems like psychopaths are running the corporations.

I would seem to me some of this money shared with the employees who helped create it would allow them buy more things driving economic growth. Or are the elites afraid the workers would use any wage increases to pay their way out of debt slavery.

Back in the olde days, the advice was to buy stock that paid dividends while investing a little in 'growth' stocks that appreciated in value over the long term.

Now I think it is the other way around because of tax laws. Now investors want stock appreciation because that is capital gains and is taxed lower (or was) Thus instead of investing in machinery, we have stock buy-backs that increase the value of the stock, but not the company.

Only government spends, claiming to be generous with other people money and stuff.
If there are tax cuts, there will be incentive and means to buy more machines, hire more people and become more compeditive in the world, and at home.
Wages(labor) is usually the largest cost and the first to be cut and wages(benefits and conditions) are the last to go up..
which they are slowly, grudgingly doing.
