    Dog surgery today

Our boy is not a happy camper tonight! He had half a dozen fatty tumors removed today and teeth cleaned. One incision on his back leg is about 2" and the one on his side is closer to 8"!

Our other "Boston Terrorist" crossed the bridge a couple of months ago and Gus was lonely. The hairball keeping him company is Parker (aka Fuzzbutt") - another rescue that needed a home quick. Not exactly the BT or Boxer we had in mind but he makes up for it with personality.

Oooo! Poor baby! So he's not trying to chew on those stitches? My Collie always needed a cone.

    Hello Bud in Fla.

Praying Gus gets to feeling better soon and all heals up nicely.

Hard to look at the pics - he's got some major patchwork going on there.

    G-d bless the little fella.

This is the 3rd time he's had to go through something like this but this is the longest incision he's had. I figured they'd follow an arc to get to all the fatty tumors but it looks like they just pulled the skin back - which probably makes it hurt even more!
He's around 10 now (rescue so we're not sure) but we're hoping he won't have to go through this again. He had 1 on his back leg that was starting to give problems and ooze some when he sat on it too much or roughed it up. That was the target but we ask the Dr to look at the others and determine if they needed to be removed while he was already sedated. Guess they did. They were growing some so I guess it's best to take care of it.

Buddy and Dobie say "get well quick, Mr. Gus." We have been there and done that with lipomas and teeth.

Owie Owie! Poor baby. It's been my experience that dogs are much more resilient than we humans are so hopefully he's on the mend and will be up and about in no time. Prayers that the recovery is speedy.

He's moving around some when he has to. Much better than this time yesterday but still hurting. We finally got him to take his pain meds in bacon Spam so he and Fuzzbutt both got to enjoy that. This is his 3rd time with something like this but so far he hasn't ever needed the "Cone of Shame". He jumped up on the bed last night before I could help him and he can to say Hi when I got home today. His Mom was here with him all day and his favorite Aunt & Cousin/Dog Petter came t check on him. It'll be a long 2 weeks but he's doing better. If it's like usual, in 6 or 7 days he'll act like nothing happened but it'll still make me hurt to see the scar.

That's good news! (I took Aja's foot bandage off for the first time today. It's raw and red, but just looks like a burn now rather than a huge crater. It's been hell keeping her from licking/chewing these past two weeks, and the Cone of Shame would have done her no good, as she would have been able to stick the leg into the cone.)

So much for not putting him in the Cone of shame. We tried bandaging the places but he was still determined to lick his stitches. We saw the vet again today since we were close to his office and not only is the "Boston Terrorist" wearing a cone for the next week and a half, he's also on sedatives to keep him from being active so he can heal.

It was almost 80° here 2 hours ago. It's 52° here now. We had some nice storms. Gus is terrified of thunderstorms. We got him from a shelter in WV after the police had taken him from someone who had him chained to a tree to see how long it would take him to starve. He was probably out there during some storms, too. We hear about "Rescue Relief" and it seems to help! I thought it was like essential oils but it has no odor. No idea how it works but it seems to calm him down some.

Tried to attach more pics but they failed.
