ALERT! Egg Nog is in the stores.

    It is officially Fall now.

Picked up the first jug of it today.

Enjoying a glass with a splash of whiskey and fresh grated nutmeg, waiting for the storms to blow through.

Makes me want to get out in the woods tomorrow.

Dude we have been drinking it for 2 weeks. You need to go to the store more often..

It’s been in the stores here for over a month now.

Mmm...yummy egg nog! We were at the grocery here yesterday and it wasn't in stock yet. Seems like we get it around the first of November.

One of our larger grocery stores, Kroger's, has their brand of egg nog ice cream that came out last week. Good Lord, it was awesome!

Take a glass, three ice cubes, 1-1/2 ounce whisky, egg nog and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

I noticed that when I went to the store on Wednesday. Felt SO surreal with the temps in the 70s! That's gonna change and fast. The "S" word was in the forecast for this Wednesday.

Somehow, hot cider sounds good right now. Eggnog a bit later.

It was 89° here yesterday. Low only got down to 74. A line of thunderstorms FINALLY moving through to hopefully cool things off. I got up early to feed and potty the dogs so they’d be done before it moved in.

    Egg Nog

This Egg Nog is Easy and Great, even if you don't like egg nog.

1 Can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk
    2 Eggs
    1/4 tsp. Salt
    1 tsp. Vanilla
    1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
    1 quart Milk
    1/2 pint whipping cream

Beat eggs well and then add Eagle Brand milk, salt, vanilla and nutmeg and mix well.

Add one quart of milk & stir gently.

    Fold in whipping cream (Whipped)

    Sprinkle nutmeg on top

This is best made 24 hours ahead so it can get really cold, and of course adding some good old Jack Daniels will enhance the flavor.

At Christmas I make this by the gallon and quadruple the ingredients.

Anybody seen the pre-mixed stuff for sale in the liquor stores yet? I had a heck of a time finding it last year, so when I do, I'm stocking up. It's a staple "convenience food" for any outdoor winter activity here in the Great White North. Drink straight out the bottle - brown paper bag optional.
    Indoor is fine too.

EGG NOG!?!? I haven't even had my first glass of apple cider yet!!! With temps in the 70's and 80's, I'm still stuck on sweet iced tea!!!

Braum's just started getting it in the stores this week.

Found a really nice Oklahoma distilled bourbon to go with it "Scissor Tail", from Moore, OK.

    Fresh grated nutmeg.

What does it say about Scotland that they created golf, haggis and eggnog?

Personally, I like my eggnog with a shot of whiskey in it!

I also love the eggnog latte by the way.

I have trouble finding stuff without the HFCS.Might just make my own later in the season. Although it got down to the upper 30s last night and with wind chill felt like 31.

We just had our first frost.

That denotes coffee and Bailey's being legal in the morning.

I drink this all year long. Two cups milk, straight from the barn and chilled, four egg yolks, a splash of maple syrup, fresh grated nutmeg, and blend. High protein, super nutrition. Whiskey only on rare occasions, late in the day on a cold, blustery Ohio Valley night.

And Baileys and coffee only on a lazy, easy Sunday midwinter. With lots of Hallmark Christmas movies.

Whoa, going to have to get to the store tomorrow for sure. I like my egg nog with brandy or Meyers dark rum. Yum..
